There are public hive servers (all connected together) and private ones. The private ones are by not connected to any other servers and the character you make on it is for that server only. Public hive servers are the ones that let you despawn somewhere and spawn on another server in the same location with all your gear. Keep in mind, the look (clothing) of your survivor will change, but the gear will tell you it is the same guy. If you're using DayZ commander, you can filter the search results to only show you public hive servers. Seraphim Ninja! :ph34r:

Wow, had another great interaction with the boys from ]CIA[ just now. Hopped on the channel and RayRay and I discussed a trade of antibiotics for bear traps. I wanted to give them something because I know how rare these things can be. My friends and I end up with the sickness alot from using our boat at night, so being able to heal up onsite with antibiotics is key. On our way to meeting up (they got in their custom skinned off-road truck), I found a Heli Crash site and marked it for them in case they needed to grab anything from it. RayRay met me, hooked me up with the aforementioned items, I threw in a little extra and then he offered me a lift 5km away in the truck (my first time being in one)! Another great encounter, I highly recommend these dudes!

These guys were great. I couldn't make it to the medical centre, because of sickness induced bloodloss. They came out to me and rescued my ass with swiftness and efficiency. I think I might visit the centre soon to see what it looks like and get a couple of antibiotics for my group. My crew is always getting the sickness as we use a PBX to do night ops on our fav server. And were always out of heatpacks. Anway, ]CIA[ medics are good guys!

Fellas, I am in dire straights. I have the sickness from a zombie bite, and while I have some items, I need to have antibiotics administered. I am a hero with zero murders and +1 in the trading thread, I will not shoot you. I am in Gorka, and would prefer not to risk long distance travel with the perpetual bloodloss. Please PM me if you would like to help. Edit: I was rescued by the boys from ]CIA[! These dudes were some professionals: I got on their TS server (74.91.30.42) and moved myself into the request assistance room. No joke, less than a minute goes by and some very busy sounding guys asks "Where are you at". He is all business, informs me they (the medic's bodyguard and medic) have anything I need, and that they're on their way (6km away) in a truck they've just fueled up. I offer 3 full jerry cams that I just looted, but the offer is declined. Within minutes they're in the barn I'm hiding in, giving me a blood transfusion and supplying me with antibiotics for my sickness. Out of courtesy, I offered to drop my gun, but they declined, and instead I chose to aim it at the ground and not move while they were on the scene. This was my first rescue-by-stranger in DayZ, and it was awesome! ]CIA[ guys were great.

Hi, So on my 4th life, I've managed to stay alive for a few days now and I just received a hero skin! :thumbsup: We were checking it out, had a buddy shoot me in the chest (no bloodloss) and all was well. Strangely my humanity was back to zero, so I decided to respawn to it would be at its proper number. I logged out and back in to find that I had lost my hero skin, and my humanity was back at 4940 (where it was before I gave a blood transfusion to get the hero). My buddies said that my tag had changed too, some saw "rifleman" and other saw "man"... this is the thing that should read "survivor" Whats the deal with this? How do I keep it? Thanks!

Unfortunately, I've given a few more transfusions, and my humanity is at ~1600, looks like my zombie kills got reset to zero too. :(

Hello, I'm new to the game (I am a survivor) and I have a question regarding clothing that I need some clarification on. For ease of discussion, let's refer to the 3 civilian outfits based on their vest/shirt colors: black/black black/grey beige/grey As I understand it, you can spawn in with any of the 3 survivor outfits, but anyone looking at you may see you differently. I might spawn in with the black/grey look, but someone else could see me as black/black and another person sees me as beige/grey. This also changes any time you spawn in. This wiki article states: I presume this means the black/black outfit, with the greenish pants, seen here. Is this permanent (for that character's life)? Will it last across various spawn ins on different servers? Lastly, can you put civilian clothing on as a hero and revert to the look of a survivor? Thanks!

I dunno, I'm just going by what I read on the wiki.

As a real-life smoker, I know for a fact I would be raiding the local shop for a couple of cartons worth before heading out into the woods to survive the zedpocalypse.

The plot thickens! It made me lose 2500 humanity, but that came back upon respawn. When I respawned, it was no longer the black/black combo for me or those around me; it was now black/grey. I tried putting the civies on again (they were still in my inventory) and it changed me to beige/blue. Strange. :huh:

Well I gave it a shot, and indeed, putting on a 2nd civilian clothing while wearing civilian clothing does change you to black/black and apparently forces those around you to see it as well.

I would like to reach hero status someday, I'm +3,000 or so, so I'm well on my way. I'm apprehensive though, as having a while shirt does not seem appealing from a concealment point of view. I've also read that what you see your character as (for instance wearing a black shirt, black vest, and green pants) isn't necessarily what another person sees. They might see you as the tan vested, blue shirt guy, or the black vested grey shirt guy. Why is this? I would prefer to select my look upon spawn in and stay that way. I imagine the ghille suit, while very effective at concealing you, makes you more of a shoot-on-site candidate as someone will presume you're badass and out to kill them? Quick question: Do you lose humanity for shooting and killing a bandit? Even if you shoot first?

I have been soloing myself for a couple days now. I am completely new to the game and I find this to be an incredible way to play. Scouting, taking the path less traveled.... I haven't gone to snoop on people yet, though that does sound appealing. I might have to give it a go if decide to head back south again.
