Ask yourself, what would a vehicle do for you? Drive around aimlessly, always afraid of getting killed? Sure, you can get to places faster, but that vehicle you might find is a potential liability. You might stash it, and find it stolen the next day. You might get lit up as you drive it along the road, because it makes quite a bit of noise. On the flip side, you might wander upon someone else's stashed vehicle as well and go for an awesome joyride. Vehicles are endgame like equipment, so don't feel, as someone just learning the game, that you need to have one right off the bat. Most of the time if you find one, you'll need to do a bit of work repairing it before its operational. What other games do you play?

Ahhh, I'll have to try that. I got my hero skin on my 4th life, and he's still going about 7 or 8 days in, so when he dies I'll have to remember to spawn as a chick and then off myself. I hear jumping off the lighthouse is a popular method. ;)

Heh, I placed my first 2 tents too close to pine trees. You'll learn the proper distance with trial and hopefully not too much error. :)

Ha! I wish! I'm from the chilly coast of Massachusetts. :( A couple of my howlie friends moved to Hawaii about 15 years ago when we graduated high school. They stayed for a few years and when came back they would launch into this awesome dialect, talking 'bout loco moco's and howsit; all kinds of stuff. It was awesome. I smile fondly whenever I hear a person speaking with that rad Hawaiian accent. Shaka!

Launching with DayZCommander | No Steam Overlay

I added DayZ commander as a non-steam game and get the steam overlay just fine when I launch it from my library. Keep in mind your friends will only see you playing the non-steam game DayZ commander, but they'll know what that means. -

Hi, Yes, completely free. Are you using DayZ Commander to launch the game? I find this gives better server results, based on the fact I play with some dudes that were using the 6launcher and they weren't able to find many of the servers that I could see. Can you describe your problems with more detail?

Have you checked out any grocery stores or office buildings? Both will have watches, maps and compasses, but I don't recall too many backpacks in offices. It might be worth a bit of a trek up north to some smaller towns that have one or both. Vybor comes to mind... Approach it from the SE for the least amount of agro zombies. :)

Hi, I made almost the same thread a couple weeks ago: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/95594-how-bad-is-the-hacking-in-this-game/ I went all in and got the games and DLC's, and had an absolute blast. I haven't even played on private severs, just low-pop public ones and I haven't had one incident of hacking to date (knock on wood). I'm not looking for a PvP experience, rater a survivalist type experience, so I stay out of the 30-40 person servers which are more prone to be hacked (more bang for their buck so to speak). The standalone is coming before the end of the year, and should have much more hacker protection, but as I say, they haven't been a problem for me at all. The game is really an awesome, unique experience and even after the standalone comes out, you can either stick with the free mod, or move to the standalone. That said, the Arma games themselves are a pretty cool military sim, so if that is your bag, then I suggest you pull the trigger as you'll be able to play them sans DayZ if you move on to the standalone. -

That would be the cool, community-oriented thing to do. Shame on the folks that are talking about not using the tool anymore even after the creator has come here to explain things. Issue was raised, dude came here the same day, and apologized for the situation freely admitting he was unaware of the situation. Yet some are still pissed off? I quite enjoy DayZ Commander and am glad to see Josh here to make things right. -
