M14 is a great all around weapon, especially playing PvP. You want something that hits hard and will break their legs at the very least.

Combined Ops is 40% off on steam right now. $17.99... currently $6 more than OA alone. If you're gonna buy OA, you should pony up for the full monty. From what I understand, using the free version of Arma will leave you with some pretty bad looking textures. Sorry, but i don't know the answers to the rest of your questions.

I'm hoping that BIS can throw some money into the forum server situation, because the Standalone/Foundation/whatever will be under their umbrella. Don't forget that 99.9% of us have not given one cent to maintaining this forum in the form of a game purchase. It would behoove BIS to do this sooner rather than later, even for the mod... as its obviously the same community being built here that will carry over to their future products.

I took one look at Windows8 at a local store and felt like my parents. Maybe I'm getting old. Is there anyway to make it look more like a regular install of windows without all that tile nonsense?

I have no idea why the M14 has a CCO on it in the first place. It would seem to me to be best placed as the only semi-auto battle rifle in the game. You've got the Lee Enfield as your bolt action battle rifle, then you have various semi/burst/full auto assault rifles, whats missing in between is an iron sight semi auto rifle. M14 is perfect for this, but they stuck some modern scope on a Korean War era classic for whatever reason.

Thats why I don't bother with private servers. Every one has their own special rules, loot tables or ideas on what the game should be like, and I can't be arsed to go through 20 of them till I find one that just runs the regular DayZ mod. -
I have never heard of Take That, and in just looking it up on youtube, I'll sing the G'n'R one with the other old folks here while I wait. ;)

Until that happens, I am really digging the look of these new icons. The temperature one especially, since it always seems to be a shade of white for me and never gives me particularly useful information. Having bright red food and or water always looked out of place too. Until they're removed, I can get behind these all green ones.

In case you were unaware, the 1.7.4.4 patch has removed the L85 from the spawn list. They will no longer be created by the game, but they haven't been auto-removed from tents and inventories. Therefore, with much of the gun duping gone, I would expect this gun's trade value to increase. If you have one, keep your eyes on it!

I was thinking awhile ago that it would be cool to be able to repair the power station where all 3 major town's powerlines connect to; it's on the map already, SW of Zelenogorsk. Some kind of industrial loot pieces used to repair transformers or somesuch. You could even have it where you can restore power to the cities individually; maybe power lasts for some amount of time, and perhaps the transformer is damageable (bandit activity).
