No Pepsi, Coca-Cola or Heinz in standalone
klesh replied to SmashT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'll pass this on to Matt, but presumably he's already contacted this person. Response today from Heinz: -
Come do it on Balota Buddies server(s), they won't.

I made seven trades with people on the public hive, all while being alone. It can be done. Check the list on this thread and see if the person you're setting up a trade with is trustworthy. Trade with folks that hive high green numbers and no red. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/61113-traders-and-traitors-the-unofficial-traders-list/ Skat3rat, man that's a harsh move you pulled.

Nighttime without NVGs is fun, it's a challenge, and it'll put hair on your chest.

What is Your First Instinctive Reaction When Spotting a Player?
klesh replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My first reaction is to determine if I've been spotted. That dictates my choices and options for the encounter greatly. -
Trustable.

Worlds longest gaming session - DayZ

WWII Online is even better. 1/2 scale map of Europe. Run from Kiel to the Alps if you like! They have an auto-run button; I think it was "G". -
See this chart for the various storage capacities of the different vehicles ingame: http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Vehicles#Vehicles Yes, they can, but upon server restart they'll go empty. Same goes for putting them in tents.

FYI, because I didn't know what the term meant, whitelisting or whitelisted servers is where you apply to join and play on them, and they check your game ID number against several known cheater or hacker lists prior to allowing you to play. This ensures that the players you encounter in the game are not hacking or cheating. Generally whitelisted servers have more active admins whereby if you do encounter a hacker or cheater, they are caught and banned from the server immediately. As mentioned above, use DayZ Commander (stickied thread in the Gen Discussion forum), it shows you official/unofficial servers, shows time of day of server (somewhat buggy) and helps you stay up to date with the game files. Welcome to DayZ!

No Pepsi, Coca-Cola or Heinz in standalone

Funny, Pepsi wrote back to me presuming my suggesting they work with the developers of DayZ, was a business proposal being submitted to them. Their response: I'll pass this on to Matt, but presumably he's already contacted this person. -

Isn't Halo a violent game? -
Dean, I thought hacking, ESP'ing and all the rest were the #1 concern here (from watching the eurogamer presentation you gave). In that regard, I'm all for removing the crosshairs at launch to combat this and taking time afterward to work out a different system, or see if people are using such cheats on the standalone regardless. Locking it down and trying to provide a refreshing cheater-free experience for players should be #1 priority. If surveys and feedback post-launch are saying its too difficult to aim or tents and access points are too hard to find, then consider a way to add them back in while attempting to keep their functionality out of the hands of cheaters. From a difficulty standpoint, the anti-game shouldn't have crosshairs. From a gameplay standpoint, crosshairs allow me to shoot like a pro in 3rd person, probably to a fault. On the flip side of that argument, if 3rd person is just another way of looking at my character through a camera, my aiming skill should be the same as if I were in 1st person... my character should have the same shooting skill no matter which way my camera is looking at him/her.

One thread isn't enough? (Edit: threads have been merged) And :emptycan: for using a WarZ thumbnail for the video. Sheesh.

Ask the DayZ Commander guy dotjosh in his stickied thread. He's very responsive. -
I thought it was great. We've been playing it alot. Another advantage of the tank is the optics. You can spot from a looong way away, which, if you're rolling in a group it makes for a great scout vehicle, though obviously they'll see hear you rollin'. Of course there are alot of tin cans... the idea is that this is years into the apocalypse, so much of the good stuff is taken. We have however found cans of food, cans of dogfood, the standard medical supplies, etc. You need to loot cycle to make it work, and that requires locking down a location and defending against the hoards of zombies you'll generate doing so. Ghostbusters have had a hellofa good time playing this mod!

Interested in buying Arma II (and hence DayZ)

They are rife with hackers. Private, whitelisted servers with active admins are the way to go. I avoided them for a long time, but I have seen the light, and it's beautiful. -

I never played the Halo games, but these 2 companies don't seem to mind the association. I think DayZ will be a bigger game than Halo 4, yes/no?
