Private, whitelisted, properly administrated. My public character is fully geared, just in case, but I only die to hacks there. Its such a drag.

Useing A Chopper As Storage And Other Stuff

Some will park it on a building, inaccessible from anywhere but the rooftop, which you can't climb onto. Of course, some folks will see that, be turned off, and shoot up the heli on the rooftop. You log in, destroyed heli next to you, and no way down. The only semi guaranteed thing in this game is logging off and on with the gear on your body. 2 primaries and a sidearm if you've got a decent backpack, + ammo for both. That will always (save from glitches) be there when you log back in. I rarely see the need for hoarding 7 other weapons that you'll never use. -
As a matter of fact, the custom faces don't even display unless you're within like 30m of the person.

The problem with a chopper or any vehicle as storage occurs when you're not logged in. They are far more visible than tents (especially with peripheral dots active) and when someone takes your vehicle/chooper, there goes all your gear + your ride. Not unless its on a private hive with custom vehicles, no. -

Q: How do you feel about the last blog update, the progress made and the comparison to the mod? A: It's good, it was a really good update and it was a lot of fun to do. It really felt at the end of December we didn't have anything to show for our hard work and that was really frustrating particularly because it had been such a tense time. So now it's great we can show stuff and finally getting to design stuff. That's why I wanted to do this, before it was a lot of business stuff, project setup stuff, data stuff etc. I definitely wouldn't say we are coming to the end, we are kind of at the end of the second beginning. So originally we planned to just turn the mod into a standalone game which is really just a modified version of the mod that worked on it's own, but what we really happened was we actually made a new engine. So we are at the point where we have just finished that and got the engine to a point where it does the basic stuff we need to do and now we are putting the meat on it. We are being very particular with anything we pull across or are instead redesigning it and implementing it how it should be done - which is exactly what's happening now with zombie path finding for example. I think if there has been one lesson in making a good MP game, that's you keep doing something until you get it right. As development goes on we are going to be able to talk about more and more stuff. There are obviously some lighting problems, like our CEO was just telling me the sky is probably a bit bright at the moment and we will need to do some changes to it, like it's probably a bit blue but we are well on the way. For a start we were just intending on tidying up the mod and push it out and making the decision to decide to do it properly was pretty nerve racking and I'm glad we made it now but up until December and particularly December it was looking like that was a bad decision. It wasn't until today when I did a comparison screenshot to look at the new lighting/clouds etc and I realised there was a lot of stuff that ArmA doesn't do that has been added into the engine, shadows at a distance etc. I like to have the view distance set lower and the object distance higher for example and in ArmA you can't change the object view distance so it's those small details that come together to have a large impact. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/120064-dayzgame-shannonzkiller-jan-2013-interviewlivestream-with-rocket/ -

Looks like Balota has been upgraded from an airstrip to a full fledged airfield! See the tarmac in this pic on the left (the town is Balota proper). Also the tarmac in the background here.

I got a reply from Heinz at least, even if it wasn't successful. Nice job, it's a pity they have no clue how to market themselves. I got a 3rd reply, this time from Coca Cola. My previous replies from Pepsi and Heinz can be found in this thread. Funny how we in the forums get replies, but Matt says they wouldn't answer emails or calls to them? :huh: -
