less loot means more difficult survival. Dig it!

God, I really hope this is in the standalone.

Need Medical Assistance in the Mod? Find a medic here!
klesh replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you medics in need of Antibiotics? I have a few spares and am willing to donate them to you for rescuing me a few weeks ago. Let me know. -
81% of the 72 people that voted think it is going in the right direction, including me. The game has changed, adapt your playstyle to it. Can't find amo for that M240 MG anymore? time to lose it. Get a Winchester, get something else. Most importantly, get the hell out of Cherno.

Hi. Not sure how to remove the Steam version of the mod (unsubscribe to it if it is like the Steam Workshop mods for other games), but you should. Use a tool called DayZCommander (www.dayzcommander.com), which allows you to easily install the mod itself, the arma2 betas (required to play DayZ), and various different maps that people play DayZ on. You can favorite servers, filter them, see who is on them before you join, the whole shebang. Good luck! You're in for the ride of your life... there is nothing like the first few hours of playing DayZ where everything is new and confusing!

Hi, I have a question about humanity and the journal that was added recently. There are different levels of hero/bandit, with corresponding changes to the pages of the journal. There is also a playing card with your character on it. I presume the higher the humanity, the higher your playing card and the higher level of journal entry (with the pictures and drawings) you get. My hero character currently has a deuce of hearts as my playing card and level 1 hero entry in the journal. My stats are as follows: 182 days alive 333 zombies killed 297 headshots 0 murders 2 bandit kills 50,897 humanity I found the above stats when I stumbled on a public hive server with the debug menu enabled (7.6.1) I feel these stats are probably higher than most, so how come my card is so low and my journal entry is that of a level 1 hero. Alternatively, what stats do you have to achieve to get the higher entries? Thanks!

Right on. Thanks for the heads up!

I played on private hive at Balota Buddies for a few months, yes. Additionally, I run from zombies more than shoot them, it's more quiet that way. ;) The thread is more about the Journal though, and why it shows me as a level 1 hero. Can anyone with a level 2 hero status or above comment on what they have for a card and maybe a humanity # if they have a rough idea of where they're at?

I hit the journal button (custom action #20 I think) on some random server I was playing on.

Now if only this came in 1900x1200:

Yeah, I certainly did have most of that humanity before the update. Maybe that is the issue. I wonder if it will read properly when I die. Yup, 182 and counting. Its a great rush helping people who need anti-biotics and bloodbags now. I really feel like I've got a lot to lose, so each and every interaction is an exciting one. So much more fun (to me) than just shooting on site and dying 5 times per play session where your life and those of other players is meaningless. What do other people have for playing cards?

Straight From the Campfire (Updated Frequently)
klesh replied to Deception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Best thread ever! I'm looking forward to the frequent updates too! -
There are 2 kinds of servers, private hive and main hive. Main hive servers are for your vanilla game. They are all connected together and will have the same loot tables, and the same spawning gear. When you log out of one server on the main hive, you can join another and you'll be in the same spot. Private hive servers are really just by themselves. You can have different new spawn gear, different loot tables, extra vehicles and additional buildings on the map. Log out on a private hive server and join a different one and they're not connected, so you'll be spawning again as a new character. When you ask if the guy stil has the bat and revolver on the other server, yes he still does, but he will only have access to it on that specific server because it was a private hive. Edit: Ninja'd by the above.

I find it more interesting to try and interact with people than to just shoot them. Shooting them can happen in any game, but this is a game about surviving the zombie apocalypse. As I see it, irl you wouldn't want to survive the zombie apocalypse by yourself, killing every zombie and healthy human you see before you. I suppose I can understand those that just shoot everyone they see, but imho they're missing out on a type of enjoyment that comes from interacting with an unknown player.

Elaborate?

They look too visible to me. Dirt too dark on the big one and dirt too light on the small one. I like them in theory, though.

So I just tried it for a couple of hours. It wasnt terribly laggy for me and I didnt find any guns loot that was rediculous yet. I spawned on the Western island and made my way through a few small towns an over to a larger one. I still have a Winchester with a few mags, and a full Alice pack with food and some supplies. I found a ton of building materials, but only recently the blueprints for a Hero L1 house, so I might try to build that, I don't know. I need to try to find and fix a vehicle, but thats alot of solo running around. It seems it should best be played with a small group. I've talked a friend about DayZ alot, and his questions are always about the endgame. "What do you do, just keep running around to the same towns, killing the entire zombie population and they just come back? Isn't there any way to make like a safe haven community or something?" I mean, the humans that survive a zombo apocalypse would have to rebuild a society again, like Woodbridge (Woodbury?) in the Walking Dead. Just being a transient zombie killer going from here to there ad infinitum doesn't give you an overall sense of accomplishment. Even something like Skyrim, you can loot and sell and loot and sell, but eventually you want a home to store your goodies in. In real life, you're telling me you wouldn't store surplus guns and ammo and food etc were you to find it? It seems like the natural evolution of a survivor that can survive. That all being said, I only ran into two other guys running together. One said they were friendly and the other tried to hold me up and told me to drop my axe. I did and pulled out my pistol. "Your choice pal, I'm not gonna just tag along unarmed with you both, hoping you'll keep the zombies off me". There were plenty of death messages, and it was clear people were out there just plain killing. Not too different that private hives that spawn too many weapons. I think a mix of Origins and the original DayZ would be pretty cool.

The bases Rocket is talking about in SA will be enterable and lootable by others though, so think of them as like the current tents, but ones you can walk into. Well, that's what I heard!

How does the origins guys make money?

Most fun.

"Loot" your own home for an initial outfit and supplies for the zombie apocalypse
klesh replied to YukonCornelius's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Sears Robogrip pliers in case you meet Bob Vila, you can ask him to autograph them. Visine, because you don't want to let the Zombies know you're stoned. No gun spawn eh? Do you live in Kemenka or something?
