I play on the public hive nowadays, on a server with good antihack scripts. No hackers seen in a long time.

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
klesh replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Your reading comprehension is abhorrent. Additionally, you're completely off base thinking I am "brainwashed by the media", pal. Where exactly did you read that I wanted him to fake screenshots like the WarZ? Lol, you've got to be joking. I spoke about typical "PR" that rocket dislikes, and I in fact dislike, and explained that you can have relations with the public that are not the typical snazzy lies. You can hire PR, so you can focus on developing, and tell them exactly how you want it handled; that it isn't a big used car sales gig. You can approve of what they put out, so your fans are informed of the progress, get satiated with the news they want, and not have it look like amateur hour, which frankly the info about the SA has so far appeared. I value honesty too... my entire post was about hiring a professional to honestly talk about the game progress and future, rather than having your fans search some random site like reddit for news. What did that video demo with Matt at whatever gaming convention recently show... him running around doing things and talking about what changes they would make. "What the game is not"... yet, but then plan it to be. Except he forgot to mention that the zombies glitching through walls and attacking him before they visually attacked him was because a synching feature had not been implemented yet. What happened? People shit their pants claiming the SA looked terrible etc. and all manner of misinformation was slung around about how bad the SA looks. -

Why not hire one and tell him not to do the usual PR-style PR? Revolutionize gaming PR, and make it about what you want it to be. You don't have to "deal" with his strategy, you have to dictate it. IMHO, having Matt demo videos and forget to mention that animations were out of sync with zombies does way more harm than good, especially when its some of the first info we'd seen in awhile and people were foaming at the mouth for any tid bits. It leads to more misinformation and bad impressions. A well-done demo type of video could display the things you want displayed and properly while informing interested parties about the things that were still in development and not working well yet. Keeping your fans properly informed isn't a bad thing. -
OMG THE GAME IZ TO HARD NOW, ITS RUINED!
-
This is a great thread. Good to see some people know how to handle the changes and aren't freaking out now that "the game is hard". Would you prefer sickness goes up -> anti-b's go up? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose and result in no change to the challenge?

Using DayZ commander gives you much more flexibility in managing the mod, what versions you're running etc.

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
klesh replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Right, so chance of lots of antibiotics, chance of none, and chance of some. I fail to see where there is a problem with this? Not every survival story is going to be the same. -

And you insist there are problems when there are none. -

You're not looking hard enough, I have 6 antib's in my backpack. -

If watching a youtube interview where he grins and says he wants the game to be difficult and inaccessible is being "in the know" then you got me. I think you misunderstand the game if you think its unfair now. Its really not that hard, you just have to adapt how you play it to the changes made. You don't think it's balanced anymore... I'll call the zombies and tell them to ease back on the world-ending apocalypse for you, so it'll be more "balanced". -

Rocket wants the game to be "inaccessible". The rewards are all the more sweet this way. -
Wait a minute, the OP didn't create this, just added the text? :o :emptycan:

ROCKET. Playing with friends question (Standalone)
klesh replied to djshauny1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You and 3 friends spawn in DayZ. You're on TS with them, so you tell each other where you've spawned. You pick a location to meet and each head off on your own pre-adventure adventure to get there. It's like a prologue to the story of your eventual survival with your group. You talk to each other and relate the goings on of your particular experiences as you go. Perhaps one guy has a worse time of it, and the meeting location needs to be shifted closer to him because he's in trouble and needs your help. You rescue him. You're all now at Mogilevka; let the real adventure begin. Maybe the first night you play, the entire time is spent trying to meet up. What's wrong with that? It makes your next play session all the more enticing. -
Hey, these are very well done! I constructive critique would be to perhaps add some dead zombies scattered about the heli crash. Alive, roaming somebies would be agro'ing on that survivor, and as he is walking away from the crash like he is it would seem suitable to make it look as if he has just killed all the zombies at the heli crash and is walking away with a look of satisfaction and moving on towards the NWAF. Great job though, well done. I would love to see one with a wounded survivor sitting propped against a tree, looking disheveled and obviously having just fought his way though some town in the background. Kneeling next to him is a hero, applying medical aid to him, perhaps a bloodbag hanging from a nail thats been hammered into the tree trunk. Maybe the hero is wrapping a bandage around the survivor's leg or arm. Maybe the survivor has a water bottle in his hand. His hat is off, hair is messed up, he maybe has scratches on his face, or tattered clothes. Hero's backpack could be off, and open next to him, with a look inside to see medical supplies or somesuch. I can see this whole scene in my mind's eye, but I'm lousy at drawing.

Its a day-to-day account of what is being tweaked in the build-versions of the mod. You can see what the developers are trying, what they find works well, and what they try and eventually remove for whatever reason. It gives you an idea of what will be in the next update of the mod.

Vanilla means DayZ as the developers of the mod produce it. Many private hive servers add and tweak things like having extra loot, extra buildings, removing nighttime, adding extra vehicles, adding AI, adding special scripts such as self-bloodbagging and the like. In my opinion, these often spoil DayZ and turn it into something it is not "supposed" to be. When someone says they are playing vanilla or looking for a vanilla server, they want only the DayZ mod as it is released from the developers, with no additions or removals.

Curious, how did you make out?
-
Nice cans. :beans: :beans:
-
Perhaps they even have some survival gear on them like a lootable backpack, bandages, or somesuch? Nothing too op of course.
-
Is that a new inventory UI I see? :D
-
Lol, okay, so then the player model zombies have not been previously killed but rather have been infected; splitting hairs, that. Yeah, definitely. I want them to wear like space gloves and have tubes coming out of their helmets and fire guns like you'd see in an Aliens movie, because in the future, zombies have guns too. B) sarcasm

You do if you don't want to wait for your friends to paste IP addresses for you in TS. :P

lol, I posted to the wrong thread, had a few tabs open.
