What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just realized this thread has been off topic from the beginning. This thread is asking what new features will "For Sure" expect from Standalone. I will now list everything that is confirmed for Standalone on release. #1: New engine features, including the best components from Arma 2 and the Take On Helicopters. #2: Map overhaul, now named "Chernarus Plus" Will feature graphical optimization, new building interiors for nearly all previously unenterable buildings. Redesigned loot tables for scavenging, including tons of all new items. New locations providing a setting for background and lore. #3: New zombie AI, programmed from the ground up with the intent of making zombies a much greater threat to player survival. #4: This isn't "CONFIRMED" but I think a new inventory UI is mandatory for a release. We have had no details as to what it will be like. It is possible that they are leaving this system for last, as it may be one of the most critical updates. -
What's a good way to make players not shoot?
Erizid replied to Imafighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
#1: Shoot first, they will "not shoot" if they are dead. #2: ????? #3: Profit -
I play solo on a high-vehicle server and I usually end up just collecting car parts and ignoring everything else until I get one running.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is a game built from the ground up based on the Arma2 and Take On Helicopters engine. It will have unique design elements that aren't possible as a mod of the Arma 2 game. -
Dear Rocket & Staff: Thank-You
Erizid replied to Daffy_Duck01's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thank you for your tireless effort to release the game. Thank you for the game itself. Thank you. P.S. Military ammo primarily found from killing Military zombies. -
Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
Erizid replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Collected musing from other threads: Make all military-grade weapons (or maybe just the sniper rifles) require assembly. Scopes, barrels, receivers, stocks and magazines all be seperate items to be found and assembled from non-military item spawns. Or have gun pieces/ammo spawn in wrecked hum-vees and other minor loot locations. Hell you could even get gun parts from military zombies you kill. I also believe killing military zombies should be a primary source of military ammo, rather than scavenging it. You could also have semi-auto versions of military guns found in residential, with the gun part for full auto being available to find elsewhere. This would make military weapons more accessible and harder to complete at the same time. -
What is the current state of tents and vehicles?
Erizid replied to DannyFilming's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Item duping using tents and vehicles is still in the game. There won't be any more game patches. All work is being focused on Standalone. No dogs either. Private Hives have fixed many instances of duping if you want a cleaner experience. -
Haha I was actually going to accuse you of plotting a DDoS but I decided against it. I guess my instincts were dead on.

Your first account was banned because you began your post with "I am a scipter," followed by detailed descriptions of exactly what you script. That means that everyone here automatically hates you and you will not be allowed on these forums. I hope this account gets banned also. Edit: I just realized that your new forum name is "Powerful." Guess what, you might have been powerful with your scripting before, but you are quite powerless now. Enjoy.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was satyrizing and making fun of the internet in general, not you. Also my saying that it sounds like it wouldn't work only highlights my own ignorance to the issue. If it does work, then I am wrong and I admit that. But I shall now ASCII graphically roast you. (You)<------------->(The Mark) -
34 Days Later... Is 6 days after 28 Days Later... 202 days after 34 Days Later, it will be 34 Weeks Later... Which is 6 weeks after 28 Weeks Later. BTW they won't be making a 28 Months Later movie for a long time because the rights are divided between 4 people that now hate each other.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Confirmed changes to Zombies for Standalone are as follows: New AI built from the ground up. This means no more serpentine weaving and walking indoors. Zombies will chase you unless you break line of sight and don't make more noise. If you aggro zombies and then run into an open field, you will probably be forced to kill whatever is chasing you. Zombie model and animation optimization. This means that the skeleton of each zombie will be simplified so that the game isn't processing things like each individual fingerbone for every animation. This will lead to more zombies on the map at the same time along with improved visual animations for their attacks. New diseases that can be inflicted upon you when attacked. There is already one disease you can get randomly when being hit, but they are adding several new ones that you will have to cure. I haven't seen this confirmed, but I am going to list it anyway. Players won't be able to jog forever anymore. This isn't a change to zombies, but will affect how you interact with them. It will mean that if you aggro zombies and then try to run away, you better lose them fast or they will catch you eventually. -
Skiddies were bullied. Because they spend 8 hours a day in front of the computer instead of going to the gym, they can't bully anyone IRL so they do it with their keyboard. This isn't the playground though, if it was, they would've gotten the shit kicked out of them long ago. I'm sorry that your dad beats you or your mom senselessly every night.

why give admins of servers the ultimate power ?
Erizid replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People apparently are confusing private hive and public hive. Public hive admins can't do anything except restart the server, unless they are cheating. Which is a separate issue. -
What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Crouch walking already does that... It is slower and registers less on the Eye/Ear meter. I have heard rumblings that players wont be able to jog forever either. We will have to wait and see. -
What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That does not sound like it would work. Why cant they just log off, turn the gamma up and then log back in? Also, your beans are denied since you can't prove you didn't google it. Don't you just love the internet? -
Thinking of coming back to dayz, anything changed?
Erizid replied to tom_gr7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Certain server hosters are creating hive groups, but most private hives are only for that one server, correct. Any yes, to make a private hive, you still have to rent a server. -
No, Military Offroad is a slightly different UAZ with better speed. The only real spawn location I know of is Green Mountain.
-
I play on a server where the admins do exactly that. It is quite infuriating. I would love to find a better server, but it is actually the best administrated server I can find. The admins themselves are just way too empowered in terms of vehicle control.

No one will find this campsite since it lies on a direct line between two-high traffic areas. Edit: The WarZ was my original joke but I found it had since been done.

Since I am at work and cannot view your video, I will just assume it contains murder and mayhem. I have my own "Doing 'em Dirty... Oh so Dirty" story from just last night. I was on a 14km walk looking for vehicles when I was about to give up. I left the Northeast Airfield on a straight line to Guba Bay to check for the PBX. If it wasn't there, I was just going to log out. Exactly on my straight line (I didn't have to turn my head at all, in was right in front of me), I found a campsite with two tents and a police car (It was an "extra vehicles" private hive, it looked like a french police car). I had finished rooting through one tent when I looked under the tree and noticed a weapon barrel sticking out. I approached slowly and realized there was someone prone under the tree just laying there completely still. So I immediately double-tapped him in the face with my G17. "Dunon was Killed." I then load what I wanted into the police car and drove off. About five minutes later, side chat pops up with "WTF WHO KILLED ME." I gleefully replied that it was infact, me, and that I had stolen his police car and weapons. He rages at me that him and his friend will hunt me down and kill me while I taunt him mercilessly. I later asked him how long he had been afk and his response was pure gold. "Like 10 minutes, I was taking a dump." Now THAT, is doing someone dirty. What is really hilarious, is about 30 minutes before, I myself had left my character AFK to go take a dump. If I had just held it, Dunon probably would not have been AFK when I arrived at his camp. This reminds me of the graphic novel/movie "Surrogates." Where people have to disconnect from their avatars to go use the bathroom and the result is the robot staring into space, not moving.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The following will be a collection of Standalone facts alongside my own thoughts and opinions. New and variable diseases with different symptoms and cures are already confirmed. (Rocket said they have already done the motion capture for the vomiting animation) Complete inventory UI overhaul is already confirmed. This was necessary because they are changing inventory items to actually be items instead of just game data that says "this person has an M16 and two cans of beans." This is also mandatory because they are implementing individual item customization which requires each item be its own separate entity. Item and weapon damage, decay and customization are already confirmed. Because they are adding more clothing and making clothes have real purpose, I would assume they would also fix all character models and skins to work with all clothing items. They are also taking the best bits of code from private hives, many of which include a vast array of new player skins. Playing with the gamma settings so you can see at night would be very hard to fix. Live with it. Or get a basement prison doctor to do a surgical shine job on your eyes in exchange for a pack of cigarettes. (+20 cans of beans if you knew this reference without googling it) I am truly curious to see how they handle vehicles in standalone. I play regularly on a very high vehicle server, however it is balanced by them all spawning with no wheels and random engine/hull/fuel damage. It is very difficult for one person to fix a vehicle on their own, but it is still possible (I use an Alice Pack with 3 tires, plus a Jerry can and another tire in my inventory. Guns are less important than fixing your first car IMO). I think that system, combined with fuel being much rarer, should provide the balance they are seeking. The difficulty in using vehicles shouldn't be finding one when there are wrecked cars everywhere. The difficulty should be getting it running and then keeping it running. Again another example of item decay being an important core mechanic to periphery mechanics. They are also adding an industrial interior that resembled a machine shop to me. Perhaps these locations could be used for car part and weapon repair? Variable temperature and environmental effects are also confirmed. This makes securing warm clothing critically important. This, combined with new diseases, will ensure the environment becoming a real threat again. I do not know if they are adjusting hunger against food spawns. I do know that they have rebalanced the locations of water pumps and ponds. I also believe thirst is about where it should be in terms of decay. What I think they should do however is remove soda's curing thirst and have them provide some other benefit. Force thirst to be cured by water alone. Then you could add some kind of purification element to pond water (campfire + boiling?). All you would need is to add a findable cookpot to the toolbelt. Personally I would have no problems with sandbags and barbed wire *IF* they actually stay removed when you dismantle them. Currently they are used for trolling too much because of their permenance. Smaller and harder to see items stashes that hold less would be greatly appreciated. Also tents that get run over should be destroyed for good and the items inside, destroyed. The Airfields should have the generators functioning with the lights still on. They are, and should continue to be, main sources of player encounters. Perhaps also, the only unlimited fuel sources. In addition to the large number of new loot locations, any additional item sets will vastly increase the RNG in what you find. If in order to get night vision, you needed a broken set, a new battery and optics, it would make the pieces easier to find, but finishing such a valuable item actually harder. Certain new maps I've heard about do something similar to this, but it would probably take the Standalone item overhaul to fully realize such a loot system. Really great military guns will be more difficult to perfect when you could enter the barracks and find scopes, receivers and barrels for every gun except the one you have. Make the high-powered rifles require boku assembly and you've instantly made them harder to get, yet more accessible if you could find parts for them in crashed hum-vees randomly around the map. -
Thinking of coming back to dayz, anything changed?
Erizid replied to tom_gr7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Find a hevily moderated private hive. The really good ones fix duping and can stop hacking outright or rollback the server if something does happen. -
Old DayZ player here, are KOS and hacking low these days ?
Erizid replied to the_xxi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The main requirement for a good private hive is it must be actively moderated every day during peak playtime. If it isn't, hackers learn the admins are gone and run rampant. KoS... What can I say... I don't think standalone is going to change this. It only takes one time where you are in Cherno with no gear and get shot in the face by someone with an AKM to sour your view on all people. BTW the bandit skin is completely useless. I am KoS shot in the face way more often by the regular skin than bandits. Then... I get the bandit skin after shooting one person after he had already fired at me.
