It will all come down to how the servers govern data. we don't even know if instanced, underground bases will even be technologically possible.

That has far too many examples of good spelling and grammar to be real.

Poll: Which DayZ map is your favorite?
Erizid replied to Mr-Zer0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Everyone will be playing Chernarus within 2 months. Maybe eventually more maps will be ported to Standalone, but not right away, and certainly not some of the poll answers (i.e. they're bad). -
I have a summer home in Valyria I'd like to sell you.

Make items on ground actually look like what they really are
Erizid replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is being done for standalone. It is highly doubtful it will be done for the DayZ Mod. -
Pending Update: Build 1.7.3 (community edition)
Erizid replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The patchnotes at the beginning need to be amended to reflect the fact that the "kill you" portion of the combat logging system isn't implemented. Everyone is just reading it and then complaining. The invitation (from my own, outsider perspective), was a loose association of hive-coders talking to each other. I can't remember any announcement mentioning the fact that the code would be used to generate the next DayZ patch. -

Venthos, the code was submitted to them anonymously. While I grant you that this collaboration was not advertised to the extent it should have been, your only recourse at this point is to PM or email RAZ0R directly. You now have two full-bodied posts attested to your code being included. Just contact the project lead directly instead of soap-boxing. It is starting to feel more like you want some kind of public recognition for your contribution (in addition to having your concerns over the combat code addressed). -

The "kill you" portion of the combat system is not implemented. You will not die to this. Edit: DirtyCry had a legitimate concern, regardless of the manner in which he presented it. This also happens to be a concern of many others. Flaming him is beneath you. If you want to make fun of something, lambaste his grammar and spelling, not his concerns. -

Thinking back, I remember some kind of rumblings where they asked private hive coders to band together somewhere. I guess this is the result, but I'm not sure many of us knew that collaboration would directly become the next DayZ patch. -

Correct, many a time have I put lead into the dome of a walker, only to have it sprint at me and thwack me before falling over. Also, Venthos, I absolutely agree that some amount of contact should have been made, even if it had just been "Hey Redux dude, were taking yer codez for teh DayZ." Edit: Rocket beat me to it. I guess they were just doing a code 'drop-box' and someone submitted Redux. -
There are notable examples of spawns missing from DayZ DB map. One being the inclusion of the Black SUV which I believe was confirmed to spawn on public servers at Novy Lug where the motorcycle is listed as spawning.

Before the end of November was the last expected release date I heard. However since this was unconfirmed, I can only tell you the official party line which is any day between tomorrow and December 31st.

Have a question about a military loot place.
Erizid replied to Imafighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since you used the Green Mountain one as an example, In the little cut out side, there is a dumpster, the loot spawns there for all examples of these buildings. There is a catch however. Almost ever time, the loot will be either partially, or completely buried by the ground. You need to sweep your mouse over the ground along the walls. -
How much will Dayz cost if/when it becomes a standalone title??
Erizid replied to JDogg1329's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is wrong wrong wrong. It is a game built from a combination of features from the ARMA 2 and Take On Helicopters engines. Your quoted price is probably pretty close though. If I was a betting man, I'd bet on 25$, but it could be anywhere from 15$ to 30$ Edit: No monthly fee. -
New death messages for who killed you and what weapon, good or bad (poll)
Erizid replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah someone made a good suggestion for the death message to only show if the person uses a non-legit gun. /support -
First of all, M16A2 M203 is a legit weapon. The M16A2GL has a different underslung grenade launcher attachment and is completely different from the M203. Second, they don't autoban you on public servers for picking up a hacked weapon anymore. On most private servers, they can outright prevent hacked guns completely (on good private servers anyway), or auto delete them as soon as they are picked up, so there is no danger there. Third, the weapon list on DayZWiki is 100% accurate, so compare the name of the gun to the guns on that list. Fourth, and this is important... There is NO WAY to tell outright if a weapon is legit unless you memorize the list of the legit weapons (unless the weapon actually does have a missing or wrong icon). Unless you alt-tab to check the list, you can't tell just from the gun's description. So in summary, if you see something questionable, you can pick it up and then check it later at your leisure.

New death messages for who killed you and what weapon, good or bad (poll)
Erizid replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, as I think about it more and more, I've changed my mind. Too much of the immersion is lost with death messages. It is a complete break from the emotions when you look down at the chat box. -
You also get 200 humanity back every 20 minutes of play. So in 2900 minutes, or 48.3333 (repeating of course) hours, you will be back at zero humanity.

That is not what OP means by auto-repair. He means that a damaged vehicle is instantly returned to full green simply by exiting and then re-entering into the driver's seat. I have experienced this with numerous vehicles on public and private hives. Usually on Bikes, Motorcycles, Pick-up trucks and the Black SUV. I think certain private hives have code that fixes this, which may account for the discrepencies between which servers do this and which do not.

New death messages for who killed you and what weapon, good or bad (poll)
Erizid replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I can see how this gameplay element is lost when death messages are present. Without death messages, Zombieland rule number 2 must be followed in all cases. -
New death messages for who killed you and what weapon, good or bad (poll)
Erizid replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Standalone should include this, it is an absolute necessity. The only drawback I can see is it removes the question marks that come when you wound someone. Are they dead or just unconscious? It is more authentic if you can't tell just by looking if they are dead. However, in this case I believe the Pros outweigh the Cons. -
There is a big difference between having a bandit skin and playing as a bandit. Of my last five encounters with bandit skinned people, only one ended in bullets. I don't have anywhere near this kind of luck with normal skinned people, most of them shoot me on sight.
-
I've been KoSed way more by normal skinned players than by bandits. Of the last five encounters with bandit skinned people, only one has shot me on sight. The rest all shouted friendly and we chatted for a bit or gave each other blood transfusions. Very rarely have I ever had an encounter with a normal skinned person go beyond shoot first.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
Erizid replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just curious as to why? Do you play Fallujah and Tajikistan and the like so you can fly around in Ospreys and machine gun people from the air? Or drive around in humm-vees with mounted machine guns? Do you just want a Battlefield 3 with zombies? What is it about the DayZ maps that aren't Chernarus that interests you? Like I said, I'm just curious. Please don't take this as criticism or condemnation.
