  1. Cricket bat + Baseball bat Hockey stick (grass hockey has a more club like stick) + Shinty stick golf club (9 iron = ouch) potato peeler big stick sharp stick stick with a rock duct taped onto the end Table leg / Chair leg / Zombie leg and for the love of fuck fix the crowbar!!!

I don't think the GPS fits with the DayZ gameplay (takes out survival aspect a bit) but I like this idea. might work better with a radio beacon (closer = stronger signal) Considering the satellites are probably just kicking about waiting to burn up, an Aliens style beeping locator would probably be more reliable too.

They're currently being abused because of an abundance of ammo, and the fact that everybody (or their little brother if you believe that shit) is script spawning or duping them. I think there should be a cap of 1 bullet per vehicle on the map for 12.7 ammo. that would stop everyone wasting them on noobs. They can K.O. a truck in 1 shot, that's what they are for.
  4. The point wasn't about wear and tear, or deterioration of components, (I honestly think there should be WAY more to fixing up vehicles than there is currently anyway. Ignition lights and horn always work fine, and that's just the tip of the iceberg) The point is; bullets should not cause a car to explode, or randomly burst into flames, or become entirely unsalvagable in any way shape or form! Especially in an apocalypse survival game striving for authenticity. If a car has sat for up to 5 years, is already riddled with bullets, has no fuel, smells like rat piss and for some inexplicable reason has had its wheels removed (they didn't just fall off), and can be made to run, (in game, hypothetically) as is the case with DayZ, then why, with all the oxidization and evaporated fuel, would a bullet or two make it burn up? You can literally throw a lit cigarette into a bucket of petrol and nothing will be set on fire, (but yer tab will git put oot) You can shoot a full petrol tank all day, and you'll just end up with a petrol tank full of holes. We should at the very least be left with a "Car Corpse" to store gear, and salvage parts from.
  5. I like the convoy idea, but you should have to find radios same as every other tool. Even then there should be a range limit of maybe 3Km radius from the spawn point where you can hear the message on the radio, and you should have to be on the emergency channel. (if you play as a squad only one person would need to hear it to tell everyone) Make everything more random and rarer. No point rockin' a crossbow or double barrel shotgun on a 10 player server if the other 9 guys have AS50s.

    If it truly has everything, cover it in its stock of IEDs and Satchel Charges and blow it to bits. It really shouldn't be there. And explosions are FUN!!
  7. Just read through the posts here, and decided to throw in a quick thought. If your avatar is handled server side because of disconnection, is that going to be solely for the benefit of people shooting at you? Because I see people using re-logging to lose hordes of zombies more often than to avoid PvP. (probably because I like to let survivors survive, they still logout sometimes, but I pretty much never shoot at them) This should be considered as much of a cheat as any other alt+f4 move, but I'm fairly certain zombies that are aggroed on a player are calculated client side to ease load on the server. Would that be handled similarly to suppressing fire/shock? Food for thought. Also : There are times when players can become legitimately disconnected from the internet. I've had the No response for xx seconds. like when a server restarts. But for no obvious reason. Players do get D/C, whether for powercuts, router failure, high ping, even admin kicks (and the last one WILL be abused if a logout timer is added, call it a premonition) without a way to differentiate, any crackdown on alt+f4 will no doubt bring a flood of bitching. It's not an easy one to sort.
  8. If the camera has moved back, the horizontal FOV is larger, you can see more to the sides of yourself, that's what Field of View means. It's just angled so that you can see yourself. Which also sort of makes sense, because in first person mode you can't be aware of what your own body is doing like you can in real life. 3rd person camera wasn't just left in to piss you off, it serves a purpose. And if anybody gets scooped by someone who is using 3rd person camera angle it's their own fault, or maybe just bad luck. If I killed you on a "Hardcore" 1st person server would I be "cheating" if I could see you before you saw me? No. ^^ This would be a good compromise if it could be implemented properly. :beans: Sneaking towards a corner in 3dp might lull people into a false sense of security though. (pop out and realise there's 5 dudes standing in an apparently empty street? OH SHI.. *BANG*) EDIT: My ignorance recorded for posterity.
  9. Sorry t burst your bubble fellas. the Canned goods fairy and the bullet fairy were both killed in the initial outbreak, I've being trying my best to cover up the truth but now I'm rumbled. Guess I should just throw the costumes away now... Never suited me anyway.
  10. Your engine might be fucked, but you can still replace it. The car wouldn't just suddenly explode because there's a few holes in it. EDIT: RE:Canned food. It seems to be only the good stuff that's left too! Did someone go on a rampage and collect all the string beans, rice pudding and condensed milk?!

If fuel was a more valuable commodity it would add to the player interaction (trade or otherwise) And you can't pull the "Where do you find gas?" line in a world where ammo and food respawns regularly. Or did you think that was the work of the "Bullet Fairy"? @ Welch . Halfords is the name of the shop
  12. I think you misunderstood what he meant by not punishing banditry. If it's an ability for anybody with a trained dog to track anybody who looted a corpse then it would not be considered an anti bandit measure. If every dog hunted you down and chewed your face off because you're wearing a shemagh... that's a different story.

The only way to not lose all your shit should be DON'T GET KILLED, Everybody knows getting hacked and being unable to do anything about it sucks balls, so do what I started doing - If you get hacked, pretend your character just suffered a stroke/cardiac arrest/spontaneous combustion and died. The promise of a Hack Free standalone has everyone getting impatient, like it's always 2 days until Xmas >:( I'm now hoping spontaneous combustion will be a feature, the animations will be badass.
  15. I feel your pain. I thought crossing railways was bad, until.... *50ft triple somersault to faceplant.* luckily managed to salvage her with a car (but she blew up shortly after from stuckonafenceitis) Quads are mental.
  16. Anyone remember the massive shitstorm concerning Mass Effect, the "HARDCORE ALIEN PORN SIMULATOR". which turned out to be like a 5 second clip of an inferred sexual encounter? What do you think happens to DayZ "PRE-TEEN MUTILATION SIMULATION" ? I just worry , if killing zombified youngsters in a game is totally off the cards, there may be a few dodgers looking to get their fix elswhere..... :o

I don't think taking anything out would improve DayZ, but If the anti materiel rifles are ever going to be used as intended 12.7 ammo will have to be made rare as fuck, and vehicles shouldn't explode/burn up when you burst the engine block (that only happens in Lethal Weapon films anyway. AFAIK) That and make the kickback more jarring so a miss is more costly. It would probably be easier to hit a 2M wide truck first time than a 0.5M wide person. I think that would encourage snipers to use anti personnel weapons against um... personnel.

Pretty sure I read (Probably on here somewhere) Rocket is definitely implementing a quiver, and another style of crossbow, Whether it's going to be added to the mod or kept until standalone I don't know, but It'll be in there. I quite like the crossbow,works really well against Zeds from stealth, but you kinda need a PDW as a sidearm for when shit hits the fan because the crossbow is useless against players, especially anyone who knows you're there.
  19. Random spawns? All the YES! :thumbsup: Not with a compass though, that's cheating. Unless everyone starts with just one random tool and nothing else. Not even bandages. Lucky buggers might get Hatchet/Compass/GPS. I'll end up with an entrenching tool no doubt. Not keen on the tactical insertion banter, not knowing where the fuck you are is the fun bit! could do with a little "Now leaving Chernarus" when you're wandering into no mans land mind you.
  20. Every spawn point has it's good and bad points, take Cherno for example - 2 Hospitals, Medical + Military Tents, 5 Apartment buildings, Fire station and a Supermarket. plus more. BUT! (and it's a big butt) As everyone knows the good loot is coveted by all, these places get mighty busy and if your timing is unlucky, there may not be much worth grabbing. Besides that you should be accepting the challenge whatever spawn you get. Perhaps a couple of the bigger rural towns could have a Police station for the sake of authenticity, but there are already Deerstands throughout the map. Simply throwing potential for military loot all over the place would be like making a pizza entirely out of cheese. Just because you like cheese doesn't mean it's a good idea. I think the map and spawns work well as is, it doesn't need to be made easier to find guns, quite the opposite in my opinion.

    IRN BRU gets my vote (It's made fae girders), Would be cool if we could localize the labels on cans client side, just a cosmetic thing but I would love it. @Rocket (If you're out there) - take the piss out of EA and make it release day DLC, lol

If anything the ghillie suited players should have to make a choice, whether to be fully camouflaged or have a big backpack. because not being visible is enough of an advantage in itself, the backpacks not being shown on player models must be a glitch and should be fixed IMO. (yes I've went ghillied up a few times, it really feels like cheating) As for the Hero speed boost, that's a player choice more than anything. I'm a Hero on @Hive servers because of my play style, not because anything was forced upon me. Everybody who only kills in self defence and helps out others has earned that little reward I think. Normal survivors would be moving at normal speed, not slower. The added weight restrictions really would make vehicles a lot more desirable, even more than they are already. The whole vehicle spawn mechanic as it stands in the mod is a bit crap though. Having set spawn points takes the adventure out of finding cars/bikes. Running from one known spawn location to another looking for a car doesn't feel natural, if the spawns were truly random and ANYWHERE on the roads, hillsides, forests and dirt tracks of Chernarus everyone would have the same chances instead of the first come first served way it is now. (I get the distinct feeling sometimes the admins and their buddies have repaired and hidden the chopper on pretty much every server)

This could work, but only if the way weapons handle now is the absolute MAXIMUM proficiency possible. no way just anybody on the street could hit anything with a 50 cal. from 1Km, let alone fire 10+ rounds down field with less than 2 metres of spread. Your supposed to be a random survivor, not Action Movie Hero Boy.
