Tellin' ya, Branston beans are the boy like. Heinz sauce is too thin. (It works best if you imagine "thin sauce" is some kind of terribly hurtful insult)

Thing is.. it's not a PvP game. But neither should it become a pure PvE game. It's the combination of the two, and the freedom that comes with it that made DayZ so popular in the first place. While I understand that some might not wish to engage in conflict, (I don't go looking for shootouts) everyone MUST be able to defend themselves! It's kinda the entire point. Most players turned to KoS because they got shot early in their DayZ career. I enjoy the thrill of a firefight, but in my book, KoS players are taking the easy option, and ignoring the greater possibilities. It's much more of a challenge to give medical aid to other players, and jump in to save a stranger from bandits if they're outgunned. It's the way I choose to play, same as everyone plays the way they choose. Say, for example, I met a survivor with a broken leg, told him to hide, and went to find morphine and blood bags to help him. Some PvP nut jumps me in town.... Now this could go two ways, neither option will end with both of us alive. If I get killed, what kind of win did the KoS bandit earn? One more guy sneaked in Cherno. wow. Big deal. Nothing to write home about. But if I take this guy out and get back to fix the survivors leg? Mission accomplished, and that guy will be thankful. At least until he gets eaten by zombies or another player gets the better of him. But we'll both remember it, and it will have been an adventure! Either way, with PvP disabled the whole thing becomes a pointless set of "fetch" missions, with zombies. The biggest threat to your life is stairs and doors, and I don't see the point. Private hives can do what they like, and I'm fine with it, as long as they keep it to private hives. If people want to buy standalone so they can sit up a hill with a rifle waiting for someone to walk into scope, it's their choice. If someone wants to bandage up complete strangers, then vanish into the shadows, it's their choice. If you want to run around and stock up on gear peacefully for endless hours, it's your choice. But EVERYONE will be playing their own way, and you should learn to deal with it like everyone else has. tl:dr - DayZ : It's your story.

Would have to set the game in a timeline where no matter how "modern" a product is, it's always enough in the future that the billboards look old. I would still like localization of the food and drink labels. Give me "Irn Bru" (Made fae girders) over "Mountain Dew" any day. I've never had a mountain dew IRL, not keen on trying it either since every time I drink one in game, I'm dead 10 minutes later. And I can't remember ever dying after drinking Irn Bru. In fact I'm sure I haven't died yet.

Do away with the Military. Make top loot "Police".
[email protected] replied to nsix's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If higher powered and automatic weapons had WAY rarer ammo, they might be saved for use when deemed necessary. As it stands you can find STANAG 5.56 rounds in garden sheds, and AK mags everywhere, so you'll NEVER struggle for bullets. Ammunition should be like hens teeth! It's the apocalypse, and nobody can find a pen and paper, but everyone has an assault rifle?! Bollocks. If you found an AS50 with 5 rounds, and you knew for a FACT there was fuckall chance of finding more, your first thought probably wouldn't be to go and camp Elektro. I'm hoping there's more emphasis on melee weapons as primary weapons for standalone, for the simple fact that if everyone is Rambo, then nobody is Rambo. Police loot would probably have a few different 9mm pistols and SMGs and would be a good source of shotguns and ammo. I would far prefer this to the current "Everybody grab an LMG w00t!!" I'm not saying anything should be removed, but it's just plain stupid and unbalanced as it is. If you find a M16 with underslung M203 and enough ammo to last a wee while, you should be like, "HALLELUJAH, HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS!!" not "Meh, s'pose it'll do for now." -
Most dangerous vehicle route ever. DONT EVER DRIVE THERE
[email protected] replied to Friendly1337's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Think I flip my ATV atleast twice a day. Getting the bitch back on her feet is an artform (reversing in circles while steering toward the sky usually does it after a couple of minutes) Live and learn though ALSO. If you find a scrambler (motorbike) DON'T run over Zeds whatever you do, 2-3 hits of anything (hedges, fences etc.) and your wheels will be gone! -
And so it slowly dawns on me... Dayz sucks.
[email protected] replied to xdarc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The basic rule is don't stay still long enough to get picked off by a camper, you know they're only camping because they can't shoot for shit. Sad to see another player go, but since you're already looking toward Black Ops I won't miss ya too much ^_^ Hope you didn't just buy ArmA 2 for DayZ! That would suck balls! I can't peel myself away from it. Bugs and all, It's all gravy in my book. -
Shiting in the woods, pissing and diarrhoea.

An, as of now, unimplemented "possible" feature, is the least of my worries when it comes to real world inaccuracies. For example, I could get power on in any one of those abandoned houses in the map if there was a car nearby. But that's not the point Drawing form personal knowledge is great. But if you had read the opening post, you would realise this is NOT the thread for the serious discussion of woodland etiquette or the logistics of dropping a log. td:dr - ha ha, turds EDIT: There's a LOT of chatter Rocketside about disease and medical care, I would be VERY surprised if that didn't include a set of in depth mechanics regarding cleanliness. -

You are well versed in shitting outside, I applaud you. *clap clap clap* Guessing your high horse shits in the woods too. Don't get so serious. It's called banter ffs. Ever heard of the saying, "Party Pooper"? -

I believe it's being introduced specifically to reduce the likelyhood of everyone crowding in one area for long. Disease spreads more vigorously in highly populated area. EDIT: New level of authenticity, the future of gaming. "Oh fuck, we all just drank out of sumbodys shit pit." "TO THE HOSPITAL!" - The adventure begins. -
Just more light sources in general would be good. Flaming torches (read TorShezz) Tit lamps (vest mounted clip on) All the flashy crap cyclists have would be ace. Strobes could totally mess with the eyes of an attacker, NVG or not! EDIT: Only useful in the dark mind you. It's an important thing to note. + Flare guns

I was thinking more along the lines of - Find clan camp, find their closest water source, make that the new shit pot. Then see how long it takes for anyone to notice. -
Make all players start with more gear until Standalone
[email protected] replied to Truth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just make everyone spawn dead until standalone, cut out the middleman -
Rocket should add a silenced shoe...
[email protected] replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, a squad getting chased through Cherno sounds like a horse race. But you must remember if silent footwear was added to the mod, it would be abused (script spawned all over) like NVGs quickly defeating the advantage. For standalone I can see it working well. probably a less warm, less durable shoe, but stealthy and lighter (if weight is part of inventory). -
Make zombies headhot = dead, but 2 makarov mags to the chest might do it too. Keep them just as fast as they are now, with the ability to hit players while running. (slow down a bit to swing a punch maybe) Make random bleeding less likely from punches. Add grabbing and biting. Being tackled and bitten = insta bleed And if you bitch about it being too hard, zombies will start to run faster and grab you first time every time, then EXPLODE!! And proceed to eat all your loot. EDIT: Even then, they could do with beefing up a bit. EDIT AGAIN: Lonewolf players should be trying not to aggro a big pile of Zeds. Stealthy manoeuvres are a LOT easier alone.

Won't make a difference after standalone hits. Humanity will most likely be getting overhauled or discarded, and the clothing system Rocket mentioned at EurogamerExpo would mean dressing out of necessity rather than for style. Function > Fashion

False. Expansion in metals occurs for any increase in temperature. Besides, both the screw (male) and thread (female) of any pairing, are precicely measured, and in most scopes, rail mounting bolts are less than 4mm, actual "clicks" on the scope are smaller still. And assuming Chernarus, being fictional, but in the area of southern Russia (where urban winter temperatures regularly dip below -10oC) is pretty cold outside - It's not beyond the realms of possibility that moving from inside, to up a mountain, to swimming through a lake to warming yourself beside a campfire, (while being hunted or running for your life) would cause the few micrometres of movement required to reduce the accuracy of your sight quite significantly. Added to the fact that the majority of firearms being brought to standalone will not (or should not) be hi-spec U.S. military weapons, the required maintenance of scopes is entirely plausible.

^ Made me LoL ^ I don't care what it's called, as long as it doesn't get diluted further and further from Zombie-Apocalypse Survival Must say I'm surprised nobody suggested "DayZ : Modern Warfare 4" I'm obviously not down with the kids of today.

Wiping all tents/players/vehicles.
[email protected] replied to zeroxiz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Everyone has had to adapt to deal with hacks, the entire world of DayZ has become a twisted perverted mess, because some kids are too shit to play legit, and bought and used scripts. Getting rid of everything is not strictly a bad idea, it will have to be done eventually, the Mod will be fucked beyond repair otherwise. But it's entirely pointless while talentless fuckwits can spawn all they need. Private hives aren't necessarily immune to scripting, but they're probably the nearest thing to a solution at the moment. -
Dean Hall, you will need massive Balls!
[email protected] replied to ziogualty's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm truly excited about the standalone. Mostly because once Rocket already has everyones money, he can do whatever the fuck he wants. BI just need to rig up some sexy little small print, along the lines of "like it or lump it" and stick it on the EULA. Sorted. @ziogualty - all the beans :beans: :beans: :beans: @James Ashwood - This topic IS a suggestion, the best suggestion! I imagine you're quite stressed with all the "Search bar!" and "Wrong section!" posts. Have some nice relaxing beans :beans: -
Wheelbarrow would need a car tire to repair it or it squeaks like a bitch. And if (when) you run it into a wall it will break both your legs. Shopping carts are more for quickly getting from the hospital in Berezino to the shop down the hill.

As stated above, Zero is Zero, but you should still have to set the sights on any weapon before it's definitely accurate. Grub screws and all metal threads expand/contract with change in temperature IRL, so after even a couple of hours your sights could be off, and you wouldn't know unless you checked. Not just zeroed up and down, but left and right. Alan keys or screwdrivers (toolbox in game) would be required. The same goes for rail mounted scopes, but worse. Rails, threaded rods and the scope itself are all liable to add to loss of accuracy over time and would be accelerated with all the running and rolling around players do in DayZ It wouldn't be much of a problem at close range, but at a dozen yards or more, a wee bit to either side could mean a missed headshot! The fact that the weapons in use are all abandoned should add to the likelyhood that they wouldn't be entirely accurate.

I hate to quote myself, especially from the POST RIGHT BEFORE YOURS! If everyone had your attitude, the DayZ standalone would never happen. You are a "useless feature". Learn to read, then read up on software development stages, particularly in the videogames industry.
