  1. Every country on the planet fits that description. EDIT: Forests, lakes, mountains and snow would all be badass for wilderness survival. And bears and wolves.EDIT: AGAIN: That would be fairly Chernarussian too :P
  2. Fucking hell dude. By the time you've finished cutting a steak out of some poor souls ass you should have grown horns. You should also get the option to catch diseases on purpose, join the league of plague bearers, and run across the map licking all the spoons and sleeping in other peoples beds.
  3. Even the map we do know has had an overhaul, so it'll be like moving back to your old hometown after 20 years. "Ummm. When did they build the casino?" It'd be ace to have a border/loading screen, and jump between servers on the fly, maybe even take a vehicle with you! @Taiphoz - The Cyrillic alphabet makes navigation interesting. Most of the towns on the Chernarus map have made up names within my group. Crapoe? Mogli? Dalgarnos? "I'll be there in 5!"
  4. I think eventually, the best thing they could do with DayZ is create another fictional landscape, but have it as a canonical extension to the landmass that holds Chernarus. That way they can have urban areas, snow covered mountainous regions, maybe even go so far as to add fjords, lochs and island enclaves, but still without giving me the ability to read a road sign. Nothing beats being completely and entirely lost, and trying to read cyrillic town names. USA has been done to death. Eurasia and Europe are HUGE! And there's a lot of potential in them thar hills.
  5. For standalone this would be handy, so people you VoIP with (or teamspeak or skype or mumble) can recognise you. I'm pretty sure all clothing being random to other players is just an oversight, and the limited choice is purely due to technical limitations (DayZ being a Mod) I'm sure there will be some form of selection at spawn, even if it's just to make players feel more involved in their characters. I want to burn that plain survivor baseball cap every time I see it. + Heroes caps should be on backwards (streamlined for running faster)
  6. RE: Mental state. Chances are you're spot on, in which case it's not me who should be watching out ;) (I wasn't just trying to offend you personally by saying that, it's still my objective opinion of all n00b hunters) I'm not trying to change the game, I'm trying to change PvPers attitude towards the setting we've been given. Simply put - Just because you can kill everything, doesn't mean you should. We've had a MASSIVE opportunity to craft a unique online experience, and KoS has managed to completely retard the effort and make it just another FPS with zombies. As far as I can see, if you've been hunting bambis for sport, you never wanted to play DayZ "as intended". You'd have to ask Rocket what his intention REALLY was, but I'm guessing playing Predator vs. Nooblets isn't it. I hope he has stuck to his own vision when the standalone finally sees the light of day, because members of the community don't know what's good for them. PvP is just one aspect of the game, I take part in Chernarus gunfights myself. But how much variety does your DayZ experience have if your sole purpose is to kill people?
  7. If Rocket comes round to my house and writes his name on the wall in shit then takes a photo of it and uses it as promotional art just to piss me off, I'll still buy the standalone. RE: mouse acceleration - just don't move the mouse so quickly. It's never been a gamebreaking flaw in my book, every person I know manages just fine the way it is. EDIT: If you remap the "zoom out" button to something near your WASD keys, you can use it to quickly aim across a larger area with only small mouse movements.
  8. More than half of the Elektro sniper hill AS-50 wookies I've taken out had GPS, Rangefinder and NVGs! I've been playing for a fair while, and I've found a legit rangefinder in the barracks one time. All the other "rare" tools, just get them off a "sniper" if you need them. Either I'm just the least lucky player on the face of the earth, or they're using scripted in and duped gear. Thank fuck most of them couldn't hit a cow in the arse with a banjo.
  9. sostronk has it right, OP should add a secondary poll, "What skin does your character have?" You'll get a LOT more bandits than heroes, that's for damn sure. Smart money says most of those "neutral" players would try and kill you if they got the drop on you.
  10. Sorry for being pissed at you guys in particular, I'm just pissed off with the situation in general. KoSers and PvPers have hunted n00bs for so long, it prevents any chance of a friendly exchange or a chance to help somebody out (like in the good old dayZ) because literally nobody will trust anyone, except on VERY rare occasions. Playing as a hero is getting much more difficult than it used to be, because now, not only are bandits (and everyone else) trying to kill me (and everyone else), but not a soul will hang around long enough to trade or VoIP. I've driven a bus across the entire map and not even seen a single person, because they're all playing king of the hill in Elektro. It's even got people suggesting non-PvP servers! (WTF?!) The human opposition is what makes DayZ brilliant and challenging. But for those that finally got the unique, persistent world, massively online, free-for-all, zombie-apocalypse survival simulation they've always looked for, people who just want another cut and paste deathmatch game are wrecking the experience.
  11. Gamma goggles is fairly low in the cheating spectrum but I still just use lights and flares and stuff, if I get shot, meh. Rocket has mentioned giving us something resembling the natural way our vision adapts to the dark for standalone, so it'll still be playable in night servers. Here's hoping it doesn't turn out like (just an example) Fallout 3. I love that game, but it's weird that no matter how dark it gets, you can always see just fine.
  12. >:( If there was ever a wrong answer, this is it. EDIT: For future reference, If a guy in ghillie with an AS-50 is holding you up, ALWAYS check his backpack for guns! ;)

  14. I'm sure it's on the list of additions, would be stupid not to have the option. But the glock's fine for headshotting Zeds, and flicking the light on and off seems to tip gunfights in the dark in your favour when you're fighting Sam Fisher and his NVG buddies.
  15. Get a g17, kickass pistol anyway, the light is just a little bonus.
  16. The only time I'll open fire first is if I find someone uncomfortably close to my camp. Or if I spot an AS-50 wookie bandit on a hill facing Cherno or Elektro. Otherwise, I make it my mission to try and change the general opinion that nobody can be trusted. While keeping an eye out for the ones that really can't.
  17. That's not the point. It's still a trip to the loading screen for absolutely no reason, and provided no benefit to anyone. And you just proved my point mr internet tough guy. Can act hard as nails in a forum easy enough. And in a game, shooting unarmed new beachlanders like a true warrior. Your mother must be very proud. EDIT: I'm not pointing it out for my benefit, I don't need any help dealing with Cherno bandit bitches. Wind your fucking neck in and stop defending your cowardly behaviour.
  18. If at least one of your friends is a chick, it'll all work out fine. She can do the cooking and cleaning.
  19. 1. Run in to wipe out the Zeds, bandage the guy up if need be. ask if he's heading anywhere specific. Go some of the way and help gear him up. Leave before he gets too big for his boots. 2. Find out if he has a bloodbag on him, if not, help him with one of mine. Tell him the morphine is in the back of the shop, wait till he crawls over (while dropping a morphine at the front door) then tell him the morphine is at the front door, then run away. 3. Ask where he's going, then politely tell him I'm going the other way.
  20. Grow up dude, If you paid the slightest bit of attention you would know that immersion is the intention of DayZ. But maybe you just can't understand that. Yes, it's a game. But it's a game people invest a lot of time in, and then get griefed by people like you. I believe the way you choose to play, is a waste of time. The problem is, it's not just your time you're wasting. Causing any player to have to sit through more loading screens and start from scratch, simply because you can, is a dick move. And your CoD kiddy attitude IS a major sign of sociopathy. And I'm not just saying that, it's a simple fact. EDIT: Whether in an internet forum, or in an online game, being "internet anonymous" allows you to behave and act however you like. But have you ever wondered why you like to act that way?
  21. Maybe you just can't have AIDS and be a zombie at the same time :| Epic twist to the tale.
  22. Make it possible to have no weapon drawn. (Necessary for climbing, less aggressive for player interaction) Make all ammo and firearms rarer, with more realistic magazine reloading (find boxes of bullets to refill mags instead of discarding empty ones and finding new ones already loaded) Fire propagation + more harnessing of fire as a light source (torches, trails of petrol etc.) Drinking + Eating from cans should give you an empty can (to be optionally discarded or used as a distraction/crafting item) Remove GPS (or make it only show your coordinates, it's way too easy to navigate) Include different quality maps (basic quality tourist map , uncommon / good quality ordinance survey map , rare / terrible quality picture from a postcard , common) EDIT: [snip]

    Non-pvp Servers

What makes you think a script kiddy couldn't kill you on a non PvP server if they wanted to? EDIT: @OP - It may seem like everyone is against your idea, that's most likely because they are, and they should be. If you don't like the way the game is set up, you have two options. Neither of them has anything to do with changing the game. (I'll give you a clue, one of them is "Stop complaining, play the game, learn to deal with it.")
