One wolf does not a pack make.

I must say I'm impressed. For the most part, the survivor is strong and wants to be tested! I'm awaiting a MASSIVE ramp-up in difficulty for standalone, Rocket seems like a clever guy. He must know it's the thrill of having to avoid death at every turn that will bring this undead apocalypse to life. Bring on the NINTENDO HARDNESS Zombie spawning will be fixed in standalone - Using Zed spawns to tell when a player is near? It's basically cheating, in my book. Zombies should always run after you when aggroed - If the *walking indoors* thing was ever intentional, I would be very disappointed. There are a few good topics about this over at the suggestions section, regeneration of blood over time would be my preference. Make your life and health more difficult to maintain, less "false" feeling. If you know what I mean, Survival should be an absolute nightmare. It's the end of the world. -
It's phenomenal

water from the sea

To be fair, performing any action, in any location, at any time, in DayZ, is a potential recipe for disaster. The more choice the better, Maximum options, Minimum restrictions -
Yeah, I always thought there should be an "under attack/under fire" detector, to prevent people who are defending themselves from turning into bandits. When you mouse over someone, the game can give you nametags for vehicles (if enabled) They could've used that mechanism to tell if someone was lining up a shot trying to shoot you first, or you attacked them. Atleast you don't lose humanity for a pre-emptive bandit clipping.

I like to play as a survivor doing what he can to survive, I play the way I like to think I would react given the same circumstances. I'm not a roleplayer, but neither am I a murderdeathkiller. Giving people the benefit of the doubt will get me killed, but that's what you get for being nice. That sounds like it would be awesome! I like the DayZ runny zeds myself, but if they'll still spawn and attack when you're in a car, your walkers sound like a MASSIVE improvement.

He's super orphaned EDIT: I am a hero on @hive servers

Why aren't tents and vehicle slots temporarily disabled yet?

It's not about punishment, it's just about baiting the hook. If it was all square, who's losing out? -

While sKiddies can spawn shit, nothing can be sorted. As it stands, even a single TWS is bullshit, but it's the millions of tent-duped AS-50s and L85s that piss me off EDIT: would BE catch more scripters if the Hive got wiped and we all started from scratch? -

water from the sea
[email protected] replied to ghillie gang johansen's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is a good point. While desalination is achievable through fairly simple means, it wouldn't be worth it only to collect one canteen of drinkable water, unless you were on a desert island and had fuckall else to do. I can picture a filtration system being added as a VERY rare loot spawn, but to perform the task by other means would be an action reserved for those who maintain a coastal camp or have something totally preventing their access to any fresh water. EDIT: Of course I agree it should always be an option. -
If you want a more challenging game, just don't wear a backpack, so you have to keep more of an eye on what your carrying and what you need. I wouldn't want to be running round carrying a massive pile of stuff on my back IRL, so it makes sense. Would be nice if carrying less let you run a bit quicker, but DayZ can't do everything, it's only a mod after all. Or just never carry food, only eat when you're hungry and happen to find food in loot, or after you hunt and cook a piggy. I used to do a similar thing with the Bethesda versions of Fallout (FO:3, FO:NewVegas), just carry a rifle, a knife/pistol and minimal food/drink/medical items at a time. Massive inventory space is very gameish and makes surviving way too easy.

Or you could just talk to your dog (when/if they get added) Just don't listen to his plans, dogs are not renowned tacticians. -
Confirmation needed before spawning your character
[email protected] replied to okami (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Different strokes for different servers, boss. The only time I got a fully geared up character spawning on the n00b coast was while logging into an "@hive" server running an older mod version. (before I learned version updates are applied voluntarily by server admins) So it does happen, just the number of servers + players makes the cause hard to nail down. Aborting before "setup completed" has never caused it for me. I'm backing the confirmation screen suggestion, it's a really good idea. :beans: The only problem might be people taking up slots in the server when loading is complete, but they're away doing something else. -
Player/Survivor screams/yell when injured
[email protected] replied to liquidcactus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If you ever play as a group where one of your buddies (*Dave) likes to play with the female skin, when they're getting munched I REALLY notice the screams. That's some fucking terrifying shit. :| Would be awesome to implement this with localisation for different accents. Just now every character, even the chernarussian zeds sound like pissed off (or scared shitless, depending on the situation) americans. To have a voice selection in character creation for standalone (like on Worms) would be cool. And quite possibly could be a "totally not pay-2-win" DLC, because it could make Rocket and the team some extra pennies, and is entirely optional.(read- pointless) Just my thoughts on the subject. -
Making Humanity Points Useful
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You're right, people are social creatures by nature and prolonged isolation can indeed lead to the onset of mental illness. Hallucination sounds like a really good way to express a characters mental state to the player. It would be a little distracting without being actually harmful, but it shouldn't be used to the extent that seeing every other player as a zombie puts low humanity (mental) players at a disadvantage, unless killing for self defence could also drive you a bit crazy. (It would if you were really a good guy) If you were a proper lone wolf, you would just most likely just learn to put up with it. ^_^ :beans: I like this idea, but I expect CoDkiddies will rage at you for it, without any constructive criticism. -
You're playing a game. You have to assume responsibility for feeding and maintaining your character while playing, because that's when you've got the opportunity to improve your loot / do what you like. Even food requirements while offline were removed, because some genius realised, DayZ can't be the sole focus of the lives of every person who plays it. Since I've been playing on private hives, to follow your initial suggestion would mean there's a server where my @hive hero would have been sleeping in a shed in Stary for 3 weeks. I don't want to log back in to see a partially decomposed guy holding a shotgun... I agree with making sleep a necessary part of your characters health, but I think it could be better implemented via a requirement to choose to perform a "comfortable log out" (sleep) at a tent/campfire before you hit the 10hrs playtime mark, or suffer blurry vision/slowed movement/random passing out, any time over 10hrs, until the 10hr timer is reset with a "comfortable log out" and a passage of 10-15 minutes logged out. The fact it's a game should be taken into account, with hints towards realistic actions without it becoming unnecessarily convoluted at player's expense. No body/sleeping bag should remain there for more than 15 minutes. If anyone has been stalking without you noticing, they should have the chance to take the advantage of your sleeping state for a short time. But 8-24 hours as you suggested is taking the piss, as any person could stumble upon you by chance during this time. EDIT: Highlighted constructive feedback

@ Kenny29 - George A. Romero, creator of "Night of the Living Dead" and most of the "...of the Dead" series (the good ones at least) The guy is a LEGEND! Pretty much brought flesh eating Zombies to western media back in the '60s. Before that, all anybody knew of "zombies" was voodoo slaves and stuff. He sort of invented Zombies as we know them. You must have seen his stuff, they're classics!!! ("The Crazies" was his too, the original one anyway)

Suggestion - USE THE SEARCH BAR NEWBIES!

Couldn't resist. ^_^ (This is not a bump, simply a contribution for the good of the community) Shouldn't this be stickied or something? -
Things that can be measured tend to be easier to read than people. I couldn't possibly presume to tell you why students are fidgety bastards, they just are. By the sounds of things, some of them want to go for a smoke, and some of them just want to go and watch ;) Pulses and beans ARE healthy, but they don't have much Vitamin C, and anything pasteurised, preserved and canned loses the goodness. Especially after it's sat for a while. Read post #43 Balanced effects and optional use is all I propose, if it's simply made cosmetic, it's entirely pointless. We need more temporary status changing items in game, the loot and everything else in the mod is geared solely for PvP, and that's really not a good thing! We need to get the "sandbox survival" and "body vs. situation" gameplay back on track. Giving more options and freedom is a must. If you've ever played Fallout 2 (and to a lesser extent Fallout 3 / New Vegas) you'll remember addiction to many substances and their effects playing a big part, while always being entirely avoidable. I want these kinds of options to be available in DayZ like they are in the real world. EDIT: [sNIP]

Directional Threat indicators. ?

After building a computer, nobody wants to have to buy ANOTHER sound card just because the developer of one game was satisfied to ship it with bugged audio integration. -
LoL @ your made up knowledge. Don't base your facts on what "experts" have told the world, every single negative factor of tobacco is hyped by propaganda. Don't think they do it out of the kindness of their hearts either, do you have any idea how much money anti-smoking campaigners make per year?! Eating nothing but old canned food and meat all the time, without any fresh fruit and veg would give you scurvy before smoking would affect your stamina. Give your logic a shake. EDIT: To clarify - I'm not trying to say smoking isn't unhealthy, far from it, but you aren't personally familiar with the physical conditioning of the hundreds of millions of smokers in the world, neither could anyone be. Only bad news makes the news and tobacco companies are rich pickings for ambulance chasers. Many non-smokers couldn't run 10K. Many smokers do regularly. Many non-smokers have died from cancer. Many smokers have not. Making sweeping generalisations that anyone who smokes is less fit than anyone who doesn't is simply flawed logic. The very same can be said for alcohol, chocolate and caffeine.

Soooooo, how many months has your character in DayZ been on the go? Hmmm? I hate to quote my own posts, but you obviously can't read (even though you quoted it yourself!)
