  1. Hopefully, with standalone, having more suitable animations will make it so the zombies' cone of view can turn with their heads again. I know it was tested before and didn't work well, but where there's a will there's a way. :thumbsup: If they don't fidget like the Flash on crack they won't have a 360o detection area. I just don't like it how they can be looking at you, but their body is turned away, so they won't see you. The noise on roads is a bit excessive, but without it I think you would be very unlikely to ever get detected. What really sucks is pulling a stealthy roadie run through a field and hitting a bit of "hard dirt" which instantly gets you aggro'd. <_<

Seriously, go find out who this Dean Hall fella is. You've probably never heard of him, he doesn't work for Activision or EA.

    Maps are read X, Y (Left and Right, Up and Down) That's normal, I don't understand how you're finding a difference where it doesn't exist. EDIT : Just to be clear, that's the way I've always read maps, and I've never been a member of any armed forces.

Then read back and find out who did it, because I've only made the point (repeatedly) that the DayZ debug menu doesn't belong in the final product.The guy who created the game will have the final say. You don't have to like it. Rocket is building the game he wants to build, not the mainstream crud people are used to. Bohemia Interactive have built themselves on finding niches in the market.

    I just looked up both of my camps on DB map. The coordinates are right. Maybe I'm just not understanding you properly, but I don't see any difference.
  6. Any and all necessary answers to every potential "bring back the debug menu" response, are already in this thread. OP, JoyceY, Seddrik and any other people who just can't accept the way DayZ is going : You'll either play it or you won't. When it boils down to it, it's not about realism, it's not even about intrusive menus. It's about Rocket building his game how he wants to. The people you're getting so wound up about are the sensible ones who support the guy who's getting this shit done. It doesn't matter if you think everyone is just conspiring to piss you off. The simple fact is - We're just stating the obvious. Deal with it. (or don't. I couldn't give two fucks)

    I hope the food/health system in SA is going to be totally different from the mod, but I like the idea of prepared meals having a purpose. And they could be split into portions to keep for later, or feed the troops. :thumbsup: I'd rather have an occasional stew, fry-up or tattie soup than same old beans every night.
  8. When you're using Play withSIX, type "@hive" (without parenthesis) into the "Mod" filter. Now the ServerBrowser will only show servers on the public hive (beware of script kiddies) If you type "!@hive" it will show any server NOT on the hive. (exclamation mark inverts the filter) Any server on the hive will allow you to keep your gear between play sessions on any @hive server. If you use Play withSIX or DayZ Commander, gamespy shouldn't be getting activated. It never has been for me. Try closing gamespy when it pops up after you pick a server through another program. EDIT: Actually I deleted everything to do with gamespy from my computer, so that might be what stops it from opening :wacko:

    I think there should be apples and stuff kicking around. I'd prefer "random chance" food sources that could do their own thing after civilization collapses instead of farming. Maybe they would be from pre-apocalypse farms, but I think scavenging is more appropriate to the tone of the game than maintaining a farm. If we get instanced subterranean bases, there could probably be a hydroponic farm somewhere, but that's extremely advanced compared to the everyday survival we're supposed to be dealing with.

I remember reading your post in "Crumbling Metagame Needs Fixing" but I wasn't entirely sure I understood what you meant (and that topic was a mess, until it got derailed ^_^) If this can (conceivably) encourage people to value the life of an in-game character and take responsibility for their own wellbeing (instead of jumping off a lighthouse), it would definitely suit DayZs depiction of an apocalypse.

    I decided to google it. I found an army study guide for Land Navigation HERE So, military maps are read the same as normal maps.

Dean Hall defines how it should be, 'nuff said.EDIT: Stop ignoring the very obvious fact that this game is being created from the idea of ONE MAN with a very clear picture of what he wants to accomplish. EDIT2: Go and look at some interviews with Rocket, or read through his topics on here, then think about what has been made clear, time and time again. DayZ is not going to be for everyone.
  15. I would like to take part in something like this, it sounds interesting. It sounds like a lot of work, and there are obviously going to be issues with deciding how many ticks there are per server etc. (Players suiciding to get better spawns would be shunned) If the countdown progression had tangible effects on survival, through spawns and atmosphere, it would be awesome. This idea could do with a trial server (wish I knew how to set this up)
  16. @Thaatu - If you play solely on low-pop severs, surely you lack the perspective to make a judgement on PvP gameplay, no? I'm not having a go, nor denying the reality of psychological trauma, just making that point. EDIT: To be clear, I think hallucination would be an atmospheric gem for DayZ, but in any multiplayer situation, if it puts particular people at a disadvantage, I have to say I'm against it. I don't think players should pick a team. I'm also against the idea of different skins being associated with humanity. It shouldn't be that simple. I have a hero skin on the hive, but I wouldn't have dressed like that if I had the choice. Don't judge a man by his skin.

  18. I don't think aircraft would be totally out of place, but they would make high-priority targets of anyone who finds them, and I don't think they would last very long under fire. That, and there are only limited landing/take-off spots on the map so their usefulness is debatable. Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to the addition of civilian light aeroplanes for transport. Just steer clear of military jets. They're clearly grief-tools waiting to happen.

    Standalone controls

    I would guess no matter what the default controls are, I'll custom map them anyway. I like the mouse wheel menu, but it doesn't seem to work very well : Opening the wrong door, switching weapons instead of climbing ladders etc. I'll be happy as long as the keyboard is no longer filled with functions which serve no purpose (can't remap the number keys? WTF?) EDIT: My pal has everything working through xpadder and it works pretty well. (I can't work it, but he's got it down to a T) I like keyboard and mouse, but do you rekon anyone has considered gamepad support?
  21. Somewhere North of Zelenogorsk... Is it just my imagination, or is something not right here? Pics are pre -1.7.3 That's clearly not what I was expecting to find in the forest... The International Hotel seems to have branched out. Needless to say, I didn't hang around very long. EDIT: I never even tried to get in the chopper. Hindsight is a bitch.
  22. Stop trying to disguise the fact that you are complaining because you want it to be easier for you.You're only making yourself look like an idiot. Anyone who has accepted the lack of debug menu isn't getting what they want, they're accepting the premise of DayZ as Rocket intended it. You won't get what you want, so learn to take what you get. EDIT: We can all extend other peoples arguments ad absurdum, it doesn't make you right. If you want to look at statistics, go back to school.
