  1. Nice. You could potentially use a combo of this and sneekys' idea to use any item to kill a zed. I want to see someone break a guys leg by throwing morphine injectors at him.
  2. Even if they only included more cargo containers / storage crates and pickups / trucks across the actual airfield, it would fill up the massive blank space. It's not like the runway will be needed in DayZ, it just turns into a killing field if you're not careful. More cover would be a welcome addition. If, like others have mentioned, random spawning objects could be introduced, to keep things interesting the cover could be made unpredictable.
  3. If the "Zombie life-cycle" works the way I picture it, the zeds offshore would be old and starved so there's a good chance they won't be the quickest off the mark.Could be a good stealth, stealth, stealth mission. Provided you have a decent backup plan.
  4. The first time I heard one of the "tense moment" coda sections, I put the volume straight to 0% If the music doesn't change dynamically it will only distract me when I have it on. I have Battery ready to roll in the event of a fight breaking out. Now I'm thinking I should change it to "I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your Motorcycle"
  5. The clip (in this persons' right hand) holds rounds, which are fed into the fixed magazine within the rifle EDIT: This is an M1 Garand + En bloc clip.
  6. Every instance of a squabble over semantics owes to the fact that every single word you can think of is derived from some colloquialism back-in-the-day. If people have been misinformed, they shouldn't hold all the blame. It's the fault of the action films of the '80s US, where Gas is a liquid.
  7. If memory serves, I'm sure I've seen/read comments in interviews with rocket where he's mentioned making crashed vehicles lootable. Most likely for low-value supplies and whatever vehicle parts you can salvage. This along with making more (most) of the vehicles you come across more than simply fixed, decorative, burnt-out wrecks. would seriously improve the apocalyptic, "where the fuck is everyone?" tones and provide possible links to DayZs, as of yet, untold backstory.
  8. I would like to see the whole country get a more "lived in" look. Beans
  9. Get a good view of them, throw smokes, watch them run around like idiots

    Foods! Plz coment

Then you'll have to water and care for your bus until it's ripened.
  11. I think I've found a way to keep everybody happy. You can spawn wherever you like, but you spawn bleeding, with a broken leg, and no gear. EDIT: Sorry, I meant NO.

    Fix Land Navigation

You are mistaken. Since you've made this post, I've looked this up. You should try it. No organization reads maps the way you're describing, Map coordinates are ALWAYS read right, then upwards, from the bottom left corner. There may be no hope for me, but that's because I'm trying to explain something to you. EDIT: This is a screenshot from DayZDB Chernarus Map. Surprisingly, being RIGHT!!! :o "WTF?!" This is from the in game map. Note, the same coordinates point to the same place, both reading maps correctly. Explain your problem clearly, because if you read maps differently than this, everybody on the planet must be wrong except you. EDIT AGAIN: In my second quote, you incorrectly used the word "respectively". I'm not a grammar Nazi, by any stretch of the imagination but "You and I have been correct 0 and 1 times respectively." would be an example of the right way to use it. ^_^
  13. I think if it was simplified, so players each have a .jpg of their "tag" and spray paint allowed them to paste it onto stuff, it would be less demanding on the devs. I know, different colours, blah blah. But it would be WAY simpler. Or if different colours of paint allow you to paint vehicles based on what "skin" the vehicles are using, it wouldn't be entirely customisable, but you could at least change it up a bit. Players could still use their tag to draw dicks, but if anybody wants their name synonymous with "wall cock", that's our sandbox freedom in action.
  14. I think the chance to spawn a crash site should be reduced by a massive amount. If you know there will definitely be crash sites on the map, on every server, then IMO they are too common.
  15. Namalsks' ambient sounds are creepy when you initially hear them, then instantly become pointless. IMO They don't add any atmosphere for more than the first 5 minutes. What should be used as background noise is authentic sounds caused by the actions of the characters in the world (players/zeds/animals). I would be more likely to be startled by a noise that I knew wasn't just a looped "ambient track". eg. Any gunshots/screams must have been due to another player. Any rustling leaves could just be a foraging pig, but what if its zombies? :o The wind would still have to be made up of looped recordings, but that's forgiveable. All sounds should be made from a traceable and locatable source, (where practicable for the developers) That would be more scary than "Woooooo! The ghost of the sound effects studiooooooo!"
  16. With fixes for zombies clipping through walls and fences, and making zombies spawn a minimum of 50 metres from the nearest player, there comes the potential to clear out a small area for a limited time. The moving of old vehicles (along with salvaging parts from the wrecks) has been brought up before. If memory serves, I believe Rocket said he'd already though about something along those lines. As for jumping, there's a big difference between jumping onto a car bonnet, and jumping clear over someones head. Dreygar managed to jump (to conclusions), it's only fair the zombies get a turn
  17. You need a couple more willing participants but... Destruction Derby FTW.
  18. The advantage is debatable for anyone other than solo players, considering everyone else who's part of a group or clan is doing the very same thing. I just think it's breeding missed opportunities. (example above) If there was a call to block skype/teamspeak there would be furore, but I think it would benefit the setting and immersion.
  19. I like any form of variety, but I think there should be a WAY smaller chance to find these kind of loot-spots. They should be as rare as having your heart impaled by a short-tail stingray. Also : Supermarket delivery trucks!
  20. I think the toolbelt would be better implemented as a backpack-like storage item, necessary to carry more than a couple of the smaller items eg. compass or map (which would fit in your pocket) I can't really picture myself running around with a torch/matches/hatchet/knife/trench tool just stuffed in my socks or down a leg. Players carrying capacity should be less forgiving.
  21. This, along with enforced use of VoIP (which will unfortunately be unlikely to ever happen) would help create a further air of tension. I'd like to see 3rd party chatware discouraged for this kind of thing to be possible (this and eavesdropping), but what are the chances of that happening, eh?
  22. The chance of being eaten alive by silence is a lot lower though ^_^If you keep food in a tent, bears should be attracted to it.
  23. I didn't notice the server menu is powered by gamespy  (stupid me) it seems like your DayZ commander is launching the game, but not the server. Very strange. It could be something misspelled in the command line, or any number of things. To keep things simple, I would recommend a fresh install of ArmA2 Combined Ops. Don't manually install the mod, but let DayZ commander/Play withSIX apply any updates it asks for. You might also find answers at the DayZ Commander Troubleshooting Forum. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  24. I had this happen a couple of times. If you hit "Abort" then "Disconnect", and instead of hitting "Disconnect" again, hit "OK" to jump back into the same server. You can log out normally, and your character will be saved properly. I have no idea why it doesn't work the first time, but this sorts the problem for me. It's just a pain in the hoop. I've been on the public hive since 1.7.3 dropped (my home sever went down) and the only time this still catches me out is when I get "No Message Received" because of server restarts.
  25. Hunting should be a night time activity. Not saying that you wouldn't see beasties wandering at day time, but there needs to be more reason to play at night
