And though I don't put much stock in it myself, it might explain my need to see every side of every argument. Individual circumstances, accounting for all eventualities will end with us bogged down and getting nowhere. (case in point :D) For the sake of furthering DayZ development; general rules, player-tendencies and estimation are the name of the game. On opinions being relevant to specifics, you make a good point and I don't disagree, but as a rule (hair-splitting and VERY specific specifics aside) we treat everyone as equal. Sadly this is ignored by most. From all sides. If you choose to play FPV in 3dp servers for the sake of friends, as I do, you have to resign to the fact that you're not on your own ground. It's, again, this perception that EVERYONE holds, that their way is the RIGHT way. The nature of the FPV/3dp argument is hard-coded in the nature of folk. The fact still stands. You misread my case and serendipitously brought the topic full-circle. If I know I'm right. And you know you're right. Where does arguing get us? Shake on it and call it quits, if you're keen.

What I'd like to know is, when we get the different builds (regular update and "stable"), how viable are the "fog of war" and "line of sight" fixes that used to be the in-thing? It was a regular mention in the suggestions thread. I'd like to see if it works at all like its theory.

Hold up. Have to stop you there. :P You have to realise that in those demo videos, he's showing off features. That doesn't mean anything in terms of his overall preference. Not saying that your conclusion's either right or wrong specifically, just that that the way you reached it isn't founded in reality. I'm not sure if youre serious or not, but best snub this before it snowballs into RAGE-MODE. Demonstrating animation, clothing and player-models is easier in 3dp. To extend your logic assumes Rocket plays on crosshair-enabled, "spawn with weapons and lootz" servers. OK. Carry on.

You really shouldn't be trying to suggest you are more intelligent than anyone else. You had to be told that there's an entire section of the forums specifically for finding players/servers, after you've been a member here for over a year. You literally asked the question "Who looks for players on message boards?" as if everyone else was an idiot.

Minecraft, maybe? When the admins have made their choices, player's choice is the easiest to make. "Play or Not?"

Do you think you're more likely to find the components to craft your own? I seriously doubt it. I'm all for the Mad Max style, one shot-shell for "an emergency". And that's all you've got apart from a bluff and a poker-face. But that's probably even more unrealistic. Ammo might be a rare commodity, but where there are guns, there are going to be boxes of ammunition somewhere. Nowhere is it written that survivors have been scouring Chernarus for the whole time since Z-Day. For all we know, we might be the first to set foot there in years.

@ tommes I don't think anyone has to "give in". The phrase sounds a wee bit too "woe is me" for the circumstances. I've always felt reasonably well catered for when I'm looking for merc, blacklist servers. (I'm not into whitelisting. I tend to hop around when I'm lonewolfing) There ARE a few exceptions. Maybe a particular mod I fancied the look of has only 3dp servers, for example. Since I usually play 3dp servers when I'm with buddies (that part's right. If a friend won't play FPV, I'll play 3dp), if I'm in the mood, it's "when in Rome". If I'm not feeling it, I'll find another game. The thing is. SA will be pure vanilla. There's no likelyhood that we're going to see all the variation in game-settings short of 3dp on or off. Choosing a server is literally as easy as it sounds. I don't see all the fuss. Same as where others see "exploits", "cheats" and "crutches", I just see another, entirely optional side of the game (and entirely avoidable, should you wish it) If anything, 3dp players should be the ones complaining about "corner-peeking" etc. Because if you play on a merc/expert server it will NEVER happen to you.

My DayZ experience leads me to think of shooting as more of a "measure twice, cut once" sort of thing. Not exactly likely to leave breadcrumb trails. On one hand, it would be cool as fuck. On the other hand, it's pointless server-load.
