I rekon Noob hit the nail on the head. Black-label blackout is a perfectly reasonable assumption. ;) In all seriousness, you're not necessarily getting hacked. Servers and character data seem to have a habit of doing some stupid shit over the last couple of updates.

I bought Combined Ops from BI store, but it's the Steam version. Launching games through PlaywithSix and launching PlaywithSix through Steam, never had a single problem (apart from playing Namalsk before it was PW6 supported) Try a fresh install with fresh eyes.There's always the chance that you fucked up without realising. It happens to the best of us. -
Framerate Issue, not sure why

It might not be your computer. I've had what seemed like some low FPS occasionally, but it's only on certain servers so I just attributed it to lag. Re-logging usually sorts it. Maze has it right. General rule of thumb, re-install the game and see if that sorts it. -

I get where you're coming from ,Q. But turning the game in to faction wars kinda defeats the "survivor vs. situation" theme of DayZ. I'm fairly certain that if a faction managed to monopolise the "clock" in a server, then that server would become immensely unpopular to anyone other than that group. (or those who don't realise what's going on)(or another willing group trying to wrangle it from them) A Victory Condition also seems to be outwith the style the dev-team looks to be heading towards. Just my two hundredths of a Euro EDIT: If the clock can ONLY count down, then the best you could hope for, is to hold out until the end. Which I think would be more fitting, since it's already how things work. -

The "banking" is already taken care of with tents, and Paddy pointed out, the underground structures (eventually) will do this too. You can still get robbed. That's the point. Instanced combat arenas with prizes? Hell no. Slap yourself in the face for me. :thumbsup: Rank that with the "entirely unsuitable, and you should be sorry for ever suggesting it" ideas, like "fast-travel", and pay-to-win "God Guns" Zipper, while you're right about players being gear-focused, even the best kitted players don't pose an insurmountable problem. I've killed an AS-50 pot-shotter with a hatchet. But the gear fetish is what drives the simple-minded. ^_^ Most of the PvP in this game is just dick-swinging out of boredom. "I really don't think you could possibly be more wrong" is a total exaggeration. -
Character sleeping when logged off

The game would. When you are logged off and sleeping you would be part of the environment. If someone tries to loot you the game would check if you woke up and if you did, BAM, if not you wake up with no stuff.Even if the "game" shoots someone who's trying to rob you. They know EXACTLY where you're unconscious body is sitting, so they can try again.trexeth, use the search bar. There's already a discussion about this sort of stuff. It got quite heated if I remember right. I don't think it's a good idea, personally. -
I like this idea. IMO it wouldn't even have to remain separated from the main hive, because neither hive spawn will give you any discernible advantage in the other. (unless your clan fully gears you up, then sends you off on your own :wacko:) Not sure about the random name thing. I think for smooth gameplay you still need to be in control of how you identify yourself, even if it's just for immersion purposes.

I'm a gamer, but not a particularly software-savvy guy, so forgive me if I'm speaking shit. RE: PC options menu, Whether for optimisation or not, an online game of this nature needs to have some standardisation, to negate exploitable settings, such as; gamma, grass detail and draw-distance. RE: RAMDisk The target to optimise DayZ is confirmed to be a MAJOR part of the standalone. PC games tend not to be optimised, because there's always a new video-card, or faster processor to be had. Having seen what's still possible on xbox360 hardware with titles, such as, Hitman Absolution and Halo 4, I have a lot of faith in the abilities of rocket and the team. -
What will happen to Dayz Mod?

Whether the mod can be seen as a "competing product" or not, DayZ isn't being made to suck money out of everyone, it's being made to be the best game it can. There might still be people who consider themselves fans of DayZ, but don't want to shell out £15 or so for the standalone. They probably just recently bought ArmA so they can play Dayz, but they will only hurt themselves if they take this approach. Bohemia Interactive aren't some glaring of corrupt fat-cats who only equate money with success. (we should all know some of those money-grabbers by now) They are known for creating quality products, because they take pride in their work. Supporting the modding community is clearly something to be proud of, so we can only assume it will continue. -

The way jerry cans work doesn't make sense anyway. I'm fairly certain the final polish will, at the very least, add an animation. It's like filling a canteen from a tap - improbably fast. I'd like to see a pump and / or siphoning introduced. If only for the potential to steal the fuel out of other vehicles, or share fuel between them. OR, just park the vehicle you want to put fuel IN to, down hill a little bit. Let gravity do the work.

Whats so entertaining about this mod?

It's a sandbox, the entertainment comes from using the game-world as you see fit. I get that big clans, hostiles and bandits are intimidating, but some of the best DayZ times can be had when you're immensely underpowered/outnumbered and running around like an idiot. If you know a clan has a base somewhere, there's nothing stopping you from stalking them and stealing all their crap. I'm a hero, not a hostile player, but I'll nick stuff from weapon hoarders. Seeing as how their guns are just sitting in a tent getting old. ;) You set yourself a target, or just wander around. It's not everyones cup of tea. -
Are you running more than one program at a time? Does it happen on every server you play on? (Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, blah blah blah) You've got a better rig than me. I've never had problems running DayZ. Even on "ultra sexy" mode. If all else fails, the general rule of thumb is to try a fresh install where practicable.

Awww, I thought the thread title was "10 arrows in one knee" On topic - I use a crossbow when I get bored of shotgun antics. With a scope it will be silent and reasonably accurate. I would prefer to have 3-5 bolts, but any more than 1 is a bonus. Don't look a gift-horse in the mouth. -

I personally think that the concept is sound. Especially considering the disease mechanics which are confirmed. Concentration of waste will make your surroundings unclean. FACT. It's better to give players some control over the situation, likely necessitating an animation/action, because I don't want my camp to become disease-ridden due to everyone auto-shitting. -
The FIRST time maybe, but I like to think even the script kiddies would have the mental capacity to get bored. or there might have been a lot of "bad" touching going on at some point.Some unresolved issues regarding a half-remembered "uncle"..... .....Welcome to Thunderdome....

Maybe for brand-new ideas, or an experimental feature. But I thought the systems of ArmA 2 and DayZ would be structured totally differently, so wouldn't testing standalone features in the mod be pretty much a waste of time?We know there will still be players on the mod, because of the MASSIVE playerbase. I don't think anyone needs to worry about it disappearing. There will always be something worth coming back for, even if it's just a break.
