  1. If you're really that scared of the dark, even when it's not real, then of course you should be allowed to cheat. People are so inconsiderate to the plight of these poor children. Shame.
  2. I honestly think they should add a massive potential variety in weapons, even if it's mostly just for looks. People like to make their characters have character. If there was more of a range of weapons of the same calibre, ammo spawns wouldn't have to be of that many differing types. And we could still mix things up a bit. Even a slight bit of difference makes your gun feel more like YOUR gun. That's that kind of feeling I would find important in this sort of scenario.
  3. I always try my best to help people out but if everyone had just one life, it would make us all paranoid as fuck. No more "Friendly?!" QEQEQE It would just be "BANG". No questions asked.
  4. There's a few more years of experience under the proverbial belt. I hold out hope that the guys will have managed to make it slightly less processor intensive. I could swear my video card does next to nothing in DayZ mod. She could do with the exercise. My new battlecry is going to be "OPTIMIIIIIIIIZED!" EDIT: I don't know why I clicked EDIT.
  5. Is that ArmA 2 normal as in "CPU tries to do everything" normal? ^_^Not so subtle nudge nudge towards performance info.
  6. Ma ha!I see what you did there. It can hardly be considered "gamey". I'm pretty sure any games which use money must've copied the idea from somewhere else... You have to remember, any unit is only worth the value people place on it.It's not a safe bet, unless a well established trade post formally adopts it. The inventory requirement should be limited to reasonable stacks. Bear in mind, common occurrence also lowers value. Taking the money could come at a cost. It would always be a gamble. It's basically junk. (didn't stop me from filling my Megaton house with it in Fallout 3): EDIT: Formatting hell. :|
  7. I have a Light-gun in the cupboard.Nobody should be able to use firearms unless they have one.
  8. Precisely my point.Rocket has stated he wouldn't introduce or enforce any economy. He never literally said "Money will never appear in any form." If DayZ is supposed to feel authentic and believable, money as items, the physical objects, coins and notes SHOULD be present, collectible and stackable. I'm not even saying they would be used for currency by players, just that it would be entirely plausible. Even hypothetically, if you have a bundle of notes in your hand, what's it worth? You can't know, because I may value it differently. How many zombie teeth would you get for 500 rubles? What's that worth in STANAG rounds?
  9. I'm up for the extra crowbar functions, but I don't think many car parts you jimmy out will be in any fit state after it. particularly glass. Crates and containers should be able to be broken into, for basic loot (nothing fancy, but extra spawns). It would stop the crowbar from sucking ass.
  10. If you don't want it, you're in no position to surmise what "most people" want. It's a method of obtaining commodities through trade, without having to produce or, in the case of DayZ, scavenge items of equal perceived value. It's got bugger all to do with travelling light. Doing what it takes to get items necessary to your survival "IS part of what makes DayZ." I'm not saying add a shop. That would be retarded. What I'm saying is, don't be so short sighted as to deny the opportunity for the existence of a player-created economy. It only works if people agree on the value of items, junk or otherwise. (money has no practical application in a survival sense, hence its "junk" classification) There will be trade taking place either way. Players will decide what value is held by particular items on a per-instance basis. People here are talking as if, in this "authentic" scenario, all the banknotes and coinage suddenly chose to evacuate the planet, without a trace. EDIT: formatting
  11. Don't let anyone just assume it will win. We should be going door to door with pamphlets!Who's making up the pamphlets? Do your part for the good of DayZ. This isn't like an election, this is actually important!
  12. For the sake of argument, let's say the first thing all the infected got the urge to do was eat all the money in the country. Now there's no more need to discuss it.
  13. I'm sure now that "functional" clothing options are confirmed for SA there would be some varieties of camo included. Personally, I wouldn't mind some snow camo trousers, DC high-tops and a denim jacket. Blends right in. ;)
  14. Consider your post disregarded. :lol:EDIT: Damn, I missed like half a page of banter.
  15. I don't mean I re-installed the game. Just restored an older backup, but I have to fiddle with all my settings again. BTW, can anyone link me to a decent written guide for FPS tweaking? The ArmA 2 config doesn't quite work the way I remember. Everything feels a wee bit jumpy for some reason.
  16. I'm guessing the "whiners" to whom you refer, are all the people who aren't crying about losing their toys.
  17. Those hosting rules only apply to public hive servers. Since private hives took off, the admins there have been allowed to do what they like. They're afforded that luxury since the private hive hosts basically bailed the DayZ community out of a bad script kiddy situation. I've been considering getting on a respectable whitelisted server, just so I can definitely avoid these "boys with toys". I've not been playing as much recently since a lot of the servers I frequented aren't all that reliable anymore. (and @hive is full of restriction #45s etc. <_<)

    Suggestion Pack

Nice suggestions dude. I always wondered whether zeds were actually trying to eat you or just kill you. I suppose that's a matter for the SA story tellers. One thing though. I don't think a week is a particularly reasonable time-frame to keep bodies. Wouldn't that just kill servers? There will be a LOT of unhidden and uneaten corpses lying about. Maybe a couple of hours is more managable, but it would still have to be limited to one player body per player. (if you die again, only your newest body remains) Otherwise :beans:
  19. Everyone should be supporting options.I am of the opinion that options are good. Even if it's the option to do something that's perceived as "bad". If people don't want to take advantage of the options, there's always the option to choose another option. I would like to have players given the option to opt out of choosing an option. But that's not an option, unfortunately.
  20. I sincerely hope we don't have these kind of problems in the standalone. I just accidentally changed something graphics related in my .ini and I can't tell what it was, so I'm going to have to start from scratch (what a dumbass)
  21. Hopefully that "gamma exploit" can also be locked down in the same way.The gamma / brightness would still have to be set up at least once. But in-game, LOCKDOWN. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ EDIT: Don't forget to vote. See link in my sig.
  22. Just looking at the size of the community should tell us what's mod of the year. Definitely deserves the nominations. I'm off to evangelize a wee bit. As should you all.
