  1. Glad I'm not the only one who's unimpressed with "1337 Xx_snipez_xX" and his pals. Ballistics should at least be replicated to the extent that people will notice the difference. If you want to range and measure properly, power to ya. For zeroing, I'd just count the clicks and have a look-see. I don't do "minutes of arc". I measure in "wee bit up/wee bit down" ^_^
  2. We all know LoK's supposed to be a Salami. Or any meat product that could leave you with a bruise.
  3. I thought of a high-tech solution to your problem. If you want to keep a tally of the kills you've racked up, get a piece of paper, and a pen or pencil, and do it yourself. DayZ isn't about a scoreboard you can fap to.
  4. Your definition must be different to mine.I'm not likely to stand my ground in the hopes of taking out a gunner. That's a surefire way to get yourself squished. You don't have to use the gun to cause havoc with an armoured vehicle. The LMG is just the icing on the cake. EDIT: PvP and clan battles will occur whether or not there are tanks and APCs rolling around. Adding them just turns any normal survivors into bugs on the windshield. Moving targets at best.
  5. Managed to get rape, religion, politics AND birth-defects in there. What a guy. ;) I think we all want DayZ to be a success, that's one of the only thoughts most people have in common round here. It seems to me (judging by the backlash) the latest patch might be a case of running before you can walk for DayZmod. On paper, increasing the difficulty is EXACTLY what needs to be done. It just doesn't mesh well with the mod's, currently very buggy, system. To note: I've been playing DayZ since August, and AFAIK zeds have always done the insta-spawn thing. Anyhoo, does it feel better getting that off your chest?

    Grouping up.

I'm guessing long-range comms etc. would have to be done by radio in SA. It's the only realistic way to allow talking to someone who's miles away from you. In that case you'd have to meet someone face to face to share frequencies and stuff. (or just browse the airwaves)

    Add Bears?

Depending on how long it's been since most of the people were wiped out, bears (and other wildlife) might be a more common sight. It'd be nice to know they're out there somewhere. Just imagine, you're satified that your camp is secure from zeds and hidden from bandits. One bear could make the whole party go tits-up. Wolves would also be cool, but I don't think wolf-packs would stalk people. Unless you're already nearly dead. They're clever like that. As for MoCapping. I reckon we take a laptop, external Harddrive, some sellotape, ping pong balls and a Kinect unit up into bear country for a couple of days. Who's game?
  8. Pure class. BTW, are you sure it's beef in Derpy's stew?
  9. It's such a good idea, people must've stolen it, went back in time, and posted it before you. The utter bastards.
  10. An APC with mounted gun would dominate compared to anything else in DayZ. It doesn't fill any unique transport role, or really add anything to the game, All it would be is a solid little bastard of a thing which gives the decision "Run or Die" There's no "need" for it at all. @Dark_soul. Antimateriel is supposed to kill armour. That's its main purpose.
  11. Not really foolish if you consider the basic equation that goes on in folks heads when they see another player. Bandits are VERY likely to shoot you, Heroes are (supposedly) the LEAST likely to shoot you. Normal survivors are bang in the middle. it might not be sensible, but it can't be considered foolish, because on a basic level, it makes perfect sense.
  12. I'm not entirely certain of everyone's attitudes, but for myself, the fact that, for your effort, you can see better during the night, is motivation enough. In a Zeds apocalypse, being aware of what's going on around you could be a life-saver. Lighting up the streets/certain buildings would make spotting any infected/bandit attackers MUCH easier, in turn making your hidey-hole easier to defend. It WILL make you stick out like a sore thumb, but fortune favours the bold, eh?

    Crossbow needs a scope

Here's hoping ALL attachments are customisable and swappable, depending on rail size, obviously. Attachments are confirmed, but we don't yet know to what extent we'll be allowed to play with optional extras. I don't think the crossbow necessarily NEEDS a scope, but the option to add one would be appreciated. What it REALLY needs is a bolt-holding mount on the stock.
  14. A greater variety of etremes in weather would be welcome, but not to the extent that it could be referred to as a "Natural Disaster". That would be taking it a bit too far. Not that IRL it wouldn't be a problem, but to represent an authentic situation, it would be too rare to be worth the effort of implementation. I'd personally like to see, for example, cold, frosty weather which makes paved surfaces slippery. Or days where the wind and rain will chill you to the bone. In my mind it gives a reason to have choices in footwear and clothing.
  15. Technically speaking (from an electrical engineering POV) there's probably nothing wrong with any of the wiring. Just the power plant is out of action. You would need a LOT of fuel to get it going again, and folks (not bandits, just idiots) will do anything they can to spoil your day. If you want to rebuild society, PEOPLE are what's important. Once you've got a skeleton crew, it'd make sense to try and create some semblance of a community. Because, as radrussian said, it's what we're drawn towards as a species.
  16. I can't remember if it was Mount and Blade that he referenced, but Rocket has brought up melee mechanics a couple of times, and I like the sound of it. We have to get used to the idea of simple "click to hit" mechanics for the mean time, because any sort of advanced implementation wil take a LOOOOOOOOONG time. I'd support any kind of advanced control (by that I mean, you have a LOT of control over the action) because of the importance of player's abilities rather than 50% insta-kill chance. Putting someone down quickly shouldn't be out of the question, but it should be a case of either a VERY good aim, or a complete fluke. Also, if we ever get a "throw whatever you're holding" action, bringing a knife to a gunfight might not be entirely stupid. In any case, it's probably better than nothing.
  17. In SA the humanity-skins will be a distant memory. We can't have full clothing customisation AND hero/bandit skins. I hope, if humanity DOES play a part, it'll be something obvious, but subtle. Like an angry expression for baddies and a calm expression for goodies. That way, unless your literally face to face with someone, you can't insta-judge their appearance.
  18. ATVs dislike for bridges is a well know fact, but it's something that everyone has to find out for themselves. Luckily, the quad is pretty decent offroad, and there aren't any rivers under those bridges.
  19. Fuck it. I'll just meet you in Crapoe
  20. A decent snowboard and bindings will set you back $1000 or more, and I don't think THAT would run ArmA 2.There's a bit more to it than the price-range. We currently don't have enough information to say for sure.
  21. Sorry to say, most of the time, bandits just get popped without question. I think I got my hero skin mostly by killing zeds that were aggroing on other players, then patching them up. I any case, most people don't like you shooting past their head, even if you're saving their asses. So any survivor kills are in self defence. I've had heroes shoot at me on sight too. I let my guard down 'cause, y'know, hero skin, right? Clearly these guys are idiots, because even a clear advantage didn't do them any good. EDIT: Shoddy spelling today.
  22. If you mean "tedious" as in, "not run and gun KoS", good. That's the kind of tedium we need. :D I think adding a requirement for players to take care of their character's bodies would benefit the survival scenario.
  23. Whether it ships with Linux or a new Valve OS, it's in everyones best interests to allow the steambox to play games in their primary format. GabeN isn't a n00b of the industry. I'm sure it'll be taken care of. As for hardware and compatibility. That remains to be seen. I'd be very surprised if their new machine doesn't run DayZ SA. EDIT: I'd suggest putting a suggestion in your suggestion topic.
