  1. You're obviously new here.EDIT: I just noticed, you actually are new here. Anyhoo, logic won't get you anywhere in this discussion. Best to learn that one right quick.
  2. But the one "problem" you believe you can solve is not seen as a problem by the majority of the community, it's just the way the game has been presented, adopted and played.Private hive options aren't exactly relevant to this topic either, when you consider 3dp:ON has ALWAYS been the prominent setting for DayZ servers.
  3. Does that mean Smasht, Fraggle, orlok and the rest of the fellas will be running faster than all us proles?(I crack myself up sometimes) Seriously though, it'll be nice to have zeds attacking like the wild monsters you expect, instead of trying to flank us with their recycled AI and speed-boosted animations. This thread is very handy. (I refuse to join twitter. I don't like the idea of being followed) Ta very much, fellas.

    heavy weaponry

The only heavy weapon we need is a brick on a rope.
  5. The majority of players aren't on the forums.KoSers are clearly the less sociable players, so it makes sense that there'd be less of them here. As for reputation. You gain that yourself in-game. If I interact with someone, whether it was good or bad, I tend to remember them (at least for a little while). That's the only system we need.
  6. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk

    Grouping up.

*cough*Zombies*cough* *cough**cough*infinitesprint*cough* Sorry. Tickly throat today.
  7. So you'll defend you own cheats, and that's cool? If you can't get a decent FPV server, it#s because nobody wants them.
  8. If we're getting beards, I NEED MY CLIPPERS!!! I'll take the batteries out of everyone's NVGs if it means I can be neat and well groomed. I mean, what if I'm going for a night out? Can't be picking up chicks with the survivalist scruff hanging off my face. #Beardpride
  9. Why do these threads keep coming back from the dead? Nothing new is being added to the discuission. If the game was FPV only, most of the community wouldn't have a problem with it (I imagine) but there are people out there, who the FPV elitists just enjoy discriminating against, who cannot (or will not) play in first person. The mistaken belief that playing in first person somehow makes you superior to the next guy, is only making you look like idiots. And that goes for all of you. The mantra "everybody is cheating" is REALLY starting to get old. Unless NONE OF YOU use a 3rd party chat (skype/teamspeak etc.) you don't have a leg to stand on. Let "freedom of choice" mean exactly that, and keep your trap shut.
  10. Yummy. As if the Zeds aren't bad enough. The survivors are going to be eating people too.
  11. Just because there's no economy doesn't mean all the money disappears.Even in the Fallout series (hundreds of years in the future) there's still the odd stash of cash. I hope DayZ will fill the world with lots of useless objects. It makes the world feel more "lived-in". EDIT: @ Sinkatze - If there's going to be a player made economy, it's going to have to be based on what people want/need. Unless everyone can agree on a unit of currency. I doubt it though. Most people can't even talk to other players. The only exchange we have is bullets across streets.
  12. I seem to remember this being brought up a while back. It'd be a reasonable use of a "sleep" mechanic as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Thought so. Ah, the things you can achieve with a bit of normal mapping.Lovely stuff. Very tempted to go try some 3ds max now.
  14. Wouldn't an incendiary round just punch right through a person though?
  15. Och, ye wee beauty!. That'll serve to stove a couple heads in eh? FORE! EDIT: How's your little medical kit coming along? The scalpel in the blown up pic looks ace. Are the ridges on the handle part of the model or the texture?
  16. Just a thought, It'd be good to cap the regen, so you can't get more than +/- 75% of your health back without assistance.I know someone's going to tell me "it's not fair on lonewolves". but it's a multiplayer game. We can't bypass all player interaction. Communication has to be rewarded (with life) to discourage pure KoS mentality.
  17. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk

    Radio

    I couldn't resist.
  18. I always thought it was strange that so few people see skype/TS/mumble as the kind of advantage that should be frowned upon. I mean, it's a piece of 3rd party software, used to coordinate squads, potentially spanning MASSIVE distances, outside of the possibilities afforded to us in game. Is that not a bit cheaty? If telecoms were introduced to DayZ, in the form of radios etc. It would give more reason for players to stick to in-game VoIP. Get's my vote, definitely.
  19. I play solo most of the time. And no, it's not a big deal. If you let yourself get into that state, it's your own doing. You have to deal with the situations as they're handed to you. Granted, it's not a comfortable view to have. And passing out all the time complicates things. But that's the way your poor condition is represented in game, and I don't see the problem. The medical/health system is supposedly entirely overhauled for standalone. Hopefully some mechanic can be introduced to allow players to slowly regenerate a portion of their blood (similar to reality) but as Target Practice mentioned - EDIT: This fella's good with words. I'm not so good at expressing what I mean, but I hope you get a rough idea.
  20. I don't understand where you're getting this "poor graphics" idea from. All that happens is desaturation of colour from the screen. It's really not a big deal. I find it a good way to represent the idea that blood-loss has left you a little fuzzy. The game will NEVER be balanced for solo play. Even that term "balanced" should leave a horrible taste in the mouth of a DayZ player. It's brutal. It's supposed to be that way! Some of the best times you can have are when you're hopelessly outmatched and struggling. I love it. Yeah it's frustrating. But it's all part of the package. Vehicles, if they're in use, will not respawn. Folks hide them away, or lose them. It makes it all the better when you've got a little car of your own. I'm not going to comment on night vs. day. I let peoples attitudes about it annoy me too much most of the time.
  21. In my experience it's a LOT easier to get geared up when you're by yourself anyway. If, by the time you meet your buddies, you've already got food/backpack/meds/weapons you're going to have less trouble than if you all spawn together. Imagine there's, say, 4 of you. You need to find 4 times as much food and drink, 4 backpacks, 4 times as much morphine/blood/painkillers/bandages etc. etc. You're going to struggle, and it's going to get you killed. Also, more people together are more likely to draw attention. From zeds AND other players. That's not even the reason I disagree with your suggestion. I just want to point out that it's not going to benefit you like you think it will. IIRC aren't we getting stuff like gang tattoos? :huh:I look forward to seeing how that turns out.
