  1. You didn't insult me you silly bugger.Fuckin' hell. How is anybody supposed to have faith in your judgement of their suggestions if you can't even remember who you're talking to? I was pointing out the laziness of your insult by the way, since that clearly went way over your head.
  2. Survival means doing what is necessary, to keep yourself from dying.DayZ isn't about fun, it's about overcoming challenges and dealing with stressful and dangerous situations. @OP - If you're going for deadly creatures, add ticks. Lyme disease will fuck you up if there are no doctors around.
  3. And you wouldn't need to try and insult people with references to CoD if you remembered the terms "simulation" and "authentic".
  4. I'm a hero mostly because I enjoy the challenge, but partly because the number of times I've been shot at for no reason made me want to prove to myself (and others) that you don't need to be an asshole to get ahead. That and in a game where "winning" is only measured in survival, I want to help more folks "win".
  5. Ever tried to throw a grenade while running? It's not all that great an experience. You'd think you'd learn from it too, but nope. Used to end up feeding the zeds quite often.
  6. That would be a good addition, especially if there was also a chance that all the running and rolling and diving that players do came with a chance of accidental misfire. Nobody de-cocks their semi-autos. I'm surprised more people don't shoot themselves in the foot. It IS a simulator of sorts, and the majority of folks don't have much of a clue about guns. (not that I do, I just know a little) This should lead to accidents if it's going to be properly authentic. I'm imagining someone at some point is going to forget to take their safety off, and not enjoy the consequences. ;)
  7. AFAIK Rocket still wants to add dogs to SA, but he's obviously not going to want to make the addition if they don't work properly, AI for animals will require a lot of work, because it's not going to take much of a quirk in behaviour for it to ruin the game experience. If your dog is a fucktard that doesn't act like a dog, it's going to break immersion. If the dog's behaviour is such that you can't play the game properly, whether it's giving away your position, or getting in the way, or even just not responding to commands as intended, it's going to have to be put on the back burner until it can be properly implemented. I've not heard anything regarding different breeds or anything, but the german sheperd was at least in development at some point.
  8. With that, the decision to enter a darkened area or not would carry more weight, adding to the "do I REALLY need to go in there?" moments. Added tension and uncertainty are always welcome IMO. EDIT: Folk can complain all they want. It'd only mean the addition created an uncomfortable situation, thus serving its purpose.
  9. It'd be a welcome addition. The specialist equipment could potentially be handled by particular members of groups. This would allow teams to prepare for any given situation, while still giving lonewolves the same chances, but with the need to specialise. (you can't just carry ALL the tools ALL the time) It could lead to more varied flanking manoeuvres, more emphasis on teamwork, more thorough looting and a greater sense of exploration. Nice suggestion.
  10. I'd like your reasoning behind that bit explained.@Enforcer - I don't think anybody's asking for a rotating location icon (or they shouldn't be anyway), that would be stupid. I was talking about this in this topic the other day. The character physically holding the map to look at it would add a lot to immersion in the game world, It's one thing that I didn't like about FarCry 3. They had an awesome system for the previous game, and they went back to menus for the 3rd one! Stupid move if you ask me. If DayZ is going the way of "authenticity" and "immersion" this is definitely heading in the right direction.
  11. The earliest "life" on the planet were simple bacteria. They obviously DID change the surface of the Earth. :P
  12. I have to agree with Enforcer's sentiment. The primary reason to be taking out zeds should be necessity in protecting yourself. That's not to say that attacking mobs of infected aren't a suitable idea, just that they shouldn't be seen as a reason to PvE or an attraction for players. Sort of a "kicked a hornet's nest" situation. It'd be an obstacle of sorts, or a threat to your safety that HAS to be dealt with. Not a bit of fun for you to throw some bullets at, if you get what I'm saying. There shouldn't be any indication of it, other than the fact that it's happening. And it should be a spontaneous thing. Not predictable, and not planned.
  13. Zombie apocalypse lore can place its "origin" anywhere. Mutated virus, alien micro-organism, biological weapon, anything goes! Personally, I like to have everything remain shrouded in mystery. Though long-running franchises always cave-in and "explain" things. Of course, the devs will have their plan in mind, and Rocket's brother is a virologist, so they'll likely have a logical (if not entirely realistic) explanation for the outbreak. But anything describing the story behind it should only every appear as hidden snippets of info. Never a fully-fledged backstory. We all know newspapers get it wrong IRL, and everyone likes to guess, so it'd be cool to have articles/letters/recordings of people's theories without ever giving a "this is fact" answer. I think keeping a sense of mystery about the whole scenario whilst allowing the community to speculate would add to the overall experience, Of course this is just my opinion, and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm alone on this one.
  14. EDIT: I think instant ramen is more like supernoodles. Proper ramen (not the student-food, just add water crap) is actually good. Tokyo style chicken ramen is anyway, I don't like fish.

    Zombie AI

This sort of idea (contact, causing zeds to fall over/stumble) would benefit the melee comabt system too. I'd like to be able to knock the legs out from under a zed so I can smash the skulls of the ones who fall over him. Like whoknowswho said, there was something like this in Dead Island (which was an ace game, but for some reason folk didn't like it) Unfortunately, it'll probably be AGES before DayZ gets ragdoll (it's obviously not high priority, if it's even planned), and without ragdoll, anything in this area is going to be a clunky mess of scripted animations and clipping issues. It would be awesome though. :D Fingers crossed.
  16. That's exactly how it works already. We've got quickslots and functional storage, for things like ammo, maps, compasses, watches, NVGs etc. etc. and every slot in your pack is a plain old storage slot. We've not seen the new inventory, but it sounds like pockets and webbing will work like the bandage/pistol ammo slots (for easy access) and the backpack will be for things you don't need to keep handy. Since it would seem the SA inventory system is already up and running, our best bet would be to just wait and see how it functions. Pretty much guaranteed to be an improvement.
  17. Well hold on just a second, have you actually tried playing in FPV? If you had, you'd realise that 3dp DOES lessen the tension, by giving you more awareness. Sad but true. I think the point being made here is pretty clear. The entire DayZ experience would be preferable if the community could be happy using the same options for all servers. I'm obviously not the only person who wants that. I've defended the use of 3dp for a long time, and been in many a shouting match over the issue, but it makes ME look like an idiot when most of the people I'm trying to defend are doing exactly what the pro-FPV rally has said all along. They're using 3dp to make the game easier for themselves. And that's BAD for gameplay. I'll still stand by everyone's right to use 3dp, but you have to think why, when and in what situations you find 3dp to be the better option. Giving yourself any advantage in combat, or against zeds, is a big no no. Bear in mind DayZ SA has no crosshair and no HUD. Immersion is key. EDIT: I had 1337 posts, then I made this one. What a pisser. ^_^
  18. Virtual Battlespace is the proper military simulator "cousin" of Real Virtuality programs
  19. ^^ What Lok said. That's why you'll occasionally get discrepancies too. It would allow you to get a proper view of the action though. Far better than fraps/bandicam (which you could record with after if you wanted) since the files aren't going to be 20GB of one person's perspective.
  20. Oh fuck aye! Would fit in your sittingroom easier than this anyhoo. EDIT: won't embed, must be to do with the "start at - 0:00" thing.
  21. The best you can do is encourage folks to experience the night-life. Trying to force players to stick to a server in the dark if they REALLY don't want to, is a no-go. There's always going to be servers set for different time-zones. There has to be, because of, well, time-zones.
  22. To be fair, the devs (mod and SA) can do what they like. It just might not go down too well, depending on the changes.
  23. Every time I'm in a vehicle I wish we had some sort of "drive-by" feature. It doesn't matter that you couldn't hit the side of a barn. Anything is better than 2 fully-loaded vehicles battling side by side up the road, with everyone just glaring at one another unable to do anything about it. :P It'd be fine even if it was restricted to sidearms. I can't imagine it being very easy to take aim with an AK out the passenger side window of a Skoda.
  24. I was just a boy when the infidels batteries came to my village in their Blackhawk helicopters.....
  25. So expect one inventory slot to hold 64 cubic metres of stone,
