  1. Sorry to change the subject slightly. This is relevant to what I was on about earlier, From the last blog Looking forward to seeing how our characters will indicate needs.I take that to mean the crosshair is already gone too. So it would appear the decision has been made. Maybe I've misinterpreted, but I consider crosshairs part of the HUD.
  2. From the latest devblog.I'm not entirely certain of what that's going to mean for us in-game. But I'd guess it'd lead to less predictable spawns, and less ability to loot-farm. My spidey-sense tells me "Go to Balota, get an AR" isn't going to be quite so straightforward in SA. At the very least it's going to mean more exploration/scavenging will be required. Extending our adventure by quite a bit, I'd imagine.
  3. I'd rather be empty handed at spawn, It encourages you to go scavenging, and removes the safety net that everyone has gotten used to. If people spawned with random stuff, folk would cruise up and down the coast killing n00bs just to see what they've got. Fuckers already kill beachlanders unprovoked, I'd rather not give them a reason to do it.
  4. Not this shit again, Harry. If you're going to carry on crying that everything is too hard, go play Farmville or something. It's supposed to be an unrelenting pain in the arse for new players. It always has been and always will. It encourages you to learn how things work and adapt your methods so you can be successful. Everybody has had to go through that, it's a MAJOR part of the experience.
  5. Got to agree with Joe on this ^. If suicide came with a 10-15 minute respawn cooldown, it would still be possible to use it if you felt it was necessary (I can't imagine when that would be) but it would come with a restriction which discourages its use. Though, at least, going by this suggestion, you wouldn't be able to top yourself if you didn't have a gun and at least one bullet.

    Voice Chat

I'm sure voice level detection is sophisticated enough nowadays to allow for different audible ranges. It's just unfortunate that not everyone lives in a soundproof bubble. The dogs or the hoover getting you killed would be a right pisser.
  7. Sorry to butt in, but I think you should keep this discussion the way it is (disagreements and all) and let people come to their own conclusions. I'm sure everyone has their own vision of how such a system would perform and IMO differing views are far more useful when exploring new ideas. No need to take it too seriously or go back to the drawing board just yet. I like where this is heading.
  8. Well, yeah. That's the point this topic is trying to make, but folks seem to be dead set against it for some reason. I don't get it.
  9. You can map whatever you want to whatever you want. I won't be double mouswheeling anything, Not with this piece of crap, sticky bastard of a thing.
  10. It wouldn't even have to be a keymapping. If it can be done from the gear menu, in my mind that better simulates the action of turning safety off or selecting a fire mode. Mapped controls are actions which your avatar performs, the gear menu is a combination of interactions with clothing, items and weapons.

    suggestion: Caves?

Chernarus never struck me as a very limestoney area. Any caves wouldn't necessarily be massive underground expanses. Mines, on the other hand, could be anywhere. I'm all for adding more to explore and get lost in, but I don't want to see things haphazardly thrown in just to prove that it can be done.
  12. With a couple of acoustics and a decent mic we can entertain the post-apocalypse 24/7. (or maybe 12/7) (or 4/5?) (occasionally)DJ-Chabowski and his incomprehensible accent. ;)
  13. I understand the thought behind the suggestion, but I feel that cooperation can be better encouraged by use of equipment. Skills and abilities don't give anyone the freedom to be equally effective in multiple areas if they choose to swap professions. Any evolution in skill granted by repetition of a task is only going to throw advantages to people who are willing to "grind" levels or "farm" xp. It's already happening with people exploiting blood-bags and makarov bullets to get hero skins. KC Pr3lLoX's suggestion had a good way of potentially encouraging teamwork and general player interaction in his topic here. Even though I don't think that was the intention.
  14. Hardly hateful responses over there. I wouldn't let it cause you any lack of sleep anywayz.People often struggle to see past their own noses. Some people just don't take logic in their coffee. If the system is fine the way it is, why would anyone ever bother making a new one?

    Barricades

Can you freeroam Undead Nightmare online? Could just do that instead.
  16. Beliving that the tried and tested method is the ONLY way to do anything is the reason there are 15 "new" CoD games every year.Sure the "proven" method is one way to do it, but cheap parlour tricks, such as NPC missions, are no substitute for proper ingenuity when it comes to problem solving and extending playability. If anything, implementation of NPCs should be a last resort, when all else fails.
  17. Ummmmm, there are already cars. What makes you think a trolley or wheelbarrow would be harder to implement in game than any vehicle? The function of them would be the balancing feature. They make a lot of noise, but you'd need them if you want to move huge items. (ammo box/engine block for example)

    Blind firing

You're right, zeds would never DREAM of going after the first person they see..... :huh:I'm hanging my head in shame for my stupidity.
  19. What's the bets they end up with the pacific tree frog "ribbit" noise? :PI would be VERY impressed if they sampled native (to a real-life parallel location) wildlife, as opposed to just using the old Hollywood sound effects like everyone else does.
  20. To be fair, at this stage DayZ should be considered unfinished. (because it is) The fact is, without more wildlife, Chernarus isn't going to ever feel properly alive. Implementation of a proper food-chain (of sorts) is a way for us to bring about one thing that's pretty much vital to the survival experience: A natural feeling world.
  21. Well, just taking this topic as a rough cross-section, it's 6 to 2 in favour. 75% Think it's a good idea.EDIT: If you REALLY want to find out, you could make a poll. "Do you want DayZ to be improved? Yes or No."

    Blind firing

If you want a method for supression, just fire one round and wait for zeds to show up. I wouldn't mind having blindfire added, but it's not exactly a necessity.
  23. I don't understand how you can call it "too realistic" to add such a basic feature. As for whether you want to chamber a round or not, Anything which allows for a little bit of gear management, where more options will let you set everything to your preference, is good IMO.Of course it wouldn't be necessary to make use these options unless, like I said before, there's a chance of accidental discharge. I think it could add more risks, and create a better overall atmosphere in the process.
  24. You make your own fun. Same as you take joy in accomplishing challenges which you set for yourself. If everything was simple, happy-go-lucky and fun, there wouldn't be the same sense of achievement.
  25. Clumzy has it right. "Prevention is the best medicine" after all. I'd prefer proper repercussions for injury, to encourage more care and less reckless behaviour.
