  1. You ever seen anyone eat a leather jacket? Exactly.
  2. Whoa whoa whoa, what about Johnny Cage dick-punching? Headbutts are all fine and dandy, but without an uppercut to the nuts melee combat will be lacking. Big time.
  3. Bullpup rifles would be highly valued in SA if there was a difference in weapon handling and/or ballistics between different lengths of guns. As it stands (ArmA-wise) the differences would be purely superficial. I'd still say add them. More variety is welcomed. @ Kryah. What makes you think repairing a bullpup layout rifle would be any more/less complicated than repairing any other gun? Basically any gun is too complicated for your average Joe to tinker with. (plenty of small parts etc.) By your "hi-tech" definition we'd be restricted to sticks and stones.
  4. The zeds are too predictable and easy to handle, that's for damn sure. But whether beefing up their strength is a surefire way to encourage cooperation is debatable. It's always going to be up to the individual how they react in any given situation. Ideally, the wandering zeds in SA will get the drop on players every now and then, as opposed to being exactly where you expect them to be, doing exactly what you'd expect them to do. What Chris said about the competitive nature of DayZ is right, but giving folks opportunities and reasons to help each other out is more likely to encourage teamwork than doing nothing.
  5. And there are going to be clothes as items in SA too.So you could rip up your shirt to save your pal's life, or take the bandanna off the guy you were just fighting so you can quickly bandage your wounds.
  6. This would be a welcome addition, and would fit nicely with the "whatever is necessary"-survival nature of DayZ. I'd also like to see the ability to cauterize wounds at a campfire or hobo-barrel, to stop bleeding in a dire emergency or to destroy tissue and stop the spread of infection (if it comes to that).
  7. "You Can Leave Your Hat On" *sexy dance time*
  8. That'll make for a serious case of 1 step forward 32 steps back.
  9. What I'm saying is, if they only wanted to farm some cash, instead of taking the development path we're seeing now they would have gone with the plan to simply release "DayZMod+" in December. The fact that the devs themselves are telling us there's still a long way to go with regards to development shows they're up to more than just tempting folks to turn out their pockets. EDIT: Reworded
  10. Aren't those just the ArmA3 animations? [EDIT]Just watched the whole video again closely. Didn't see any "new" animations in it.[/EDIT] Just a couple things though. 1.Bohemia have already turned a HUGE profit with the DayZ name. So any speculation regarding them upping sticks and legging it doesn't ring alarm bells TBH.2.Rocket never stated his supposed desire to follow a "kickstarter model". We've had this discussion before. Remember?
  11. Lovely stuff. Big thanks to everyone for their continued hard work. Especially Matt for forwarding the good news (Cheers dude). Best o' luck to the boss man with his big hill. I'm away for a lie down. The high altitude is making me a bit wobbly.
  12. Honestly, NVGs are more common than Day/Night cycles nowadays. I say remove any and all starter gear. Flashlight, bandage, backpack. The whole lot. It'd work better with the lighting fixed, it does get pretty hard to see sometimes, but I far prefer a challenging experience to a "loot 'em up, shoot 'em up" one.
  13. The main defining feature of "playing a role" is that your character's skills limit what you can and can not do. It's basically the antithesis of DayZ's free-for-all sandbox survival.
  14. I'm sure we've been over this. There's ~12 pints of blood in your body, one pint of blood in a blood-bag, it takes ~1 hour to transfuse 1 pint of blood. It'd be nice to make it more life-like, but going for total realism would mean there's effectively zero chance of a player ever recovering from serious injury within reasonable play-time. Concessions have to be made if folk are going to survive any length of time. Personally, I'd go for brutal "You're shot, you're fucked" rules, but most folks aren't keen.
  15. Wut?I understand the urge to create a character you can relate to and become fond of, but the absolute freedom is what makes DayZ great. Specifying a backstory and profession would only be adding restrictions.
  16. @Daz, It's hardly what I'd call "heated" in here. I do, however, find myself questioning roykingtree's superior experience of 14 year old girls (not my area of expertise)
  17. Why do you ask?Did I hurt your feelings? Awwww. The very fact that we get the information that we do should leave you feeling grateful, not entitled. Don't, for the love of fuck, start defending the attitude we've seen, that folks feel they're OWED a report. Everyone will want to crawl up Matt's ass for the next wee whiley, but they'll be back badmouthing the dev-team as soon as the novelty of this MINI-update wears off. I guarantee it.
  18. Combine a funnel with a hunting knife?Sounds like fun. Needs a 98% chance of failure + bleeding.

    Standalone Map

You guys go gather some wood into a pile. I'll be back with some petrol and matches.
  20. I'm not having a go at you, just pointing out the futility of your statements. If you want to carry on trying be a smart arse, you're more than welcome to split hairs. :D All I'm saying is the pedantism is totally unnecessary, considering everyone is well aware of the cannibal masses to which they refer when they use either term. It's a shame "tomato / tomato" doesn't translate well into text form.
  21. If that's what it takes to tickle your funny-bone, I'd be afraid to play peek-a-boo incase you piss yourself.

    Standalone Map

OP has literally nothing to do with the choice of map. The map is the play-area, not wheel-boat/patient-zero/car armour.
  23. Misinformation? You're joking, right? Both shambler zeds and 28 dayZ later "infected" are works of fiction, based on factual events (which themselves are surrounded in mystery and fiction) So in fact, you yourself are misinformed and spreading misinformation. Also, in your comparison, you fail to take into account the running undead zombies of recent "Remake of the Dead" movies. Undead Eat to fill endless hunger (or some unknown urge) Killed through damage to the brain/full-body dismemberment Mindless rage Run because THEY ARE FICTIONAL, MADE-UP, no set-in-stone rules exist. Only preconceptions and artistic license. ^_^ You can think I'm wrong if you like. Honestly, arguing the point is just stupid and immature.
  24. The folks who stamped their feet and cried for an update should be building a fort out of beans fit to be used as actual accomodation. We likely won't hear form them until they feel the need to complain again. Edited by nobody, ever.
  25. When's the next update? The communication is atrocious! I just shit myself!!! But seriously, it's nice to have a little snippet of information now and then, as long as its not just done to placate the wild masses. This post has not been edited.
