  1. http://www.dayzoverlay.com/report/ It's a work in progress; refinements are on the way. Reports are submitted to the selected GSP, who will receive an email like this: Those already using DayZ Overlay will see a link to this appear on the /standalone page soon, alongside the DayZ bug report link. Feedback welcomed!
  2. OP feels that you should all pay for your own server, run it the way you want (including as a rapid reset loot farm), and remove players at will. People who join his server are referred to as moochers who don't contribute to the community. It's all in the post history. Strange little man...

A tool to simplify reporting dodgy servers

It's not official in the sense that it is endorsed by BIS or the GSPs, but it is 'officially' up and running, and successfully submitting reports. :)

Bordering on trolling now. I am respectfully requesting that you write this off as something that doesn't interest you, and move on.

The point is that not everyone is the same as you. People are using this, so it's convenient for some. I'm not going to spend my day in this thread trying to sell it to you...

That's fine, man. Whatever reporting process you're happy with, go for it.

It allows you to report by entering the bare minimum information. Any less content than this, and the GSP cannot action the report. What makes it simpler: Players can remember one easy url, bring it up in the steam overlay browser, and submit a report quickly and without leaving the game. I know that logging into your email, finding the right email address, and typing a report up manually is not all that hard. But in reality, most people will "do it later" rather stop playing to mess around writing an email... and then never do it. Make a process simpler and more accessible, even by a little bit, and more people will use it. :)

It's all there to see if you click it :p But to answer anyway: - GSP name - Server IP and port - Violation you are reporting - Your name (optional) - Your email (mandatory... you can fake this if you want, but reports with fake addresses may be ignored by GSP) Disclosure: It is necessary for me to see what is submitted, to prevent spam and abuse. But I have no interest in gathering anyone's personal information.

In a nutshell, the web form generates an email which is sent to the selected GSP's support address.

lol @ your post history. Server admin who runs loot farms, kicks players, and attacks people who report people like him. Stay golden, son.

Thanks for the relocate, Mos1ey :-)

The message content is completely up to the user, so they can say what they like really. I considered check boxes instead (no kill server / clan only / loot farm / etc), but I think that would be just as open to false reporting. Rest assured that GSPs are far more interested in keeping you running than shutting you down. It would probably take multiple verified reports AND pressure from BIS for anything to happen to your server.

I do wonder how many they really get. A lot of people will call these servers out online, but I'd bet only a fraction actually write up an email. I hope I can help to turn that around, and put a bit more pressure on the GSPs.

Can I play DayZ with (Arma 3 only)

^ No argument with any of this, but if OP is low on funds, $6 for access to DayZ mod is pretty unbeatable. https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly
  15. Chernarus+. You've probably read about the new apartment complexes around Cherno, a few additional military bases, some new roads and WIP towns in the far north, etc. But this doesn't do justice to what has been done with Chernarus. Every square inch of the map has been tweaked to feel more authentic, from the foliage in wooded areas to the shadows & debris in towns. There are subtle terrain changes, little dirt roads, bridges, signs, huts, ponds... a million little things that make the world feel more authentic and immersive. You can really see that someone with passion for their creation has been given the opportunity to fulfill their original vision, or something far closer to it. There's my $30 right there. Fabulous. In terms of gameplay, the new health and medical treatment system is a big highlight.

    Who else?

Yep, loving the sprint. Now just let us run up shallow inclines and stairs!
  17. Hey all, I would have preferred just to bump my existing thread for this, but now we have a new section for the SA, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ A year ago a made a little site to run in the Steam browser, which gives you access to handy DayZ resources without having to alt-tab out of the game. You can read the original thread here. Today I've added a new page of resources for the standalone: http://www.dayzoverlay.com/standalone/ Currently included: izurvive.com Chernarus+ map with squad markers (if the metagame is your bag :-p)Blood compatibility chart. Use for good or evil.Personal notepad. Type and save notes in the browser. Log your journey! Build your sh*tlist!DayZ wiki & forum linksBug tracker link for expedited alpher feedbackin' It will no doubt evolve as the alpha does - pretty sure we'll see some cool resources being made by the community as the crafting & medical systems are developed further. If you have any suggestions or feedback, hit me here or via the social links on the site. Peace & beans... unless I need your beans.

    Why no zombie kids?

Controversy, controversy everywhere. Personally I'd love to see them. Wrote some stuff on reddit about it a while back: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/zr4bg/children/

what plays dayz mod or SA on a laptop?

Clevo Horize P150HMA, now 2.5 years old. Intel Core i7-2720QM AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB 8GB RAM Mod performance is 60fps+ outside cities, server allowing of course. Generally only vanilla or DayZero servers achieve this. Standalone performance is in the mid 30s - I'm sure I can tweak another 10fps out of it, I just have to spend some time experimenting.

    DayZ Kickstarter

Well I'm going to go against the grain and say... why not? It's nice that a lot of youtubers have access to a friend, family member, or their own ability to make a song. But not everyone does. Paying talent for their time should not be such a horrifying concept. And it's only a tiny amount. Hope you reach your goal OP.
  21. I posted this to /r/dayz last night, and I've had a fantastic response so far. Hopefully some folk here find it just as useful. Backstory: I've had the dayzdb.com map set as my Steam browser home page for a few months. It's been very handy, but there are a heap of other DayZ resources that are nice to have available too. Steam's lack of browser bookmarking makes life a little difficult, so I created my own little page of links. The result: www.dayzoverlay.com The actual overlay page is here: http://www.dayzoverlay.com/mod/ You can set it as your browser homepage via Steam menu -> Settings -> In Game tab. There are some Google text ads at the bottom, which I was encouraged to add. No fan of ads, me, but hopefully they'll cover hosting & Mountain Dew costs. I put the least intrusive ones in that I could. I will keep developing it, to cater to any different resources that arrive for the standalone, and perhaps even pages customised to some of the different communities out there. Taking suggestions and criticism of course! This is nothing without the hard work of the DayZ community, who have put so much effort into all these resources. A big thanks to all of you. Enjoy. :-)
  22. New page added for Epoch: http://www.dayzoverlay.com/epoch/ As always, you can fire requests at me. There are plenty of mods I haven't covered, so if I know there's demand for one, I will look into adding it.
  23. I've added a new quick reference guide to scoped rifles (and HE rounds B)). http://www.dayzoverlay.com/scopes/ Screenshot: I ended up throwing this together myself, based on a heap of guides done by others, along with some of my own testing. There always seems to be a bit of difference and debate around ready reckoners like this, so I've just had to go with the numbers I believe to be correct. It's already been added to the vanilla mod & dayzero overlays. [edit] Some corrections are required (thanks reddit). I'll do some updates on the weekend.
  24. *bump* I did some updates to DayZ Overlay on the weekend. There are now special overlays for DayZero and Origins. Hope these are of use to someone! I'm also looking for some advice. The ammo chart is out of date (albeit still useful) and I'd like to expand on the mildots link with a more comprehensive guide to ranging & sniping. Preferably in the form of nice tables/graphics that I could incorporate into a single quick-reference page. Will trade beans and non-creepy love for any suggestions.
