I posted this one to reddit the other day. Three of us were up on Green Mountain, with a Hilux and a pushbike. I jumped on the pushy and rolled out ahead of them. I was steaming down the dirt track, when I inexplicably came off the bike, losing half my health and breaking a bone. Completely baffled, I patched myself up as the lads pulled up behind me laughing. It turned out they'd ploughed into a zombie on the way down the hill, sending it flying. They watched as it soared gracefully through the air, and hit me square in the back of the head as I rode. I know a good number of players who will destroy any stashed vehicles they find, just so they respawn and become available to other players. As for the rest of your gear being untouched, maybe they just did't need it.

I dig that the aim is to build an actual community, by making sure everyone is involved in TS and the forums. But the extra steps make it it too easy to put off until later, and then maybe forget to do it at all. Not criticising, lust laying my laziness bare for all to see. -

Driving along with a friend. Some guys are on the side of the road, and they open up on us. I plough into them, they go flying and both die. They were the admins :D It got better. I had taken some hits, and my mate had been killed in the process. I headed for the coast to get him, passing out periodically. When I found him in Komarovo, I jumped out so he could bloodbag me. Unfortunately one of the admins had spawned there too... he saw us, ran in unarmed, stole the vehicle and returned to his crew - running me over in the process. It was good, fair gameplay, and it was hilarious. -

Err, bit of a 'typo' there? :P DZC puts a little cloud icon in the server descriptions of private ("unofficial") servers. You can filter them out using the options on the left ("Hide unofficial"). Sometimes I find that I need to do a full rescan after changing this option. As a side note, I wish there was an option to hide official servers. -

Not true man! I have VON turned down, I don't hear Side voice, I do hear Direct voice. I haven't tested it with Vehicle voice. -

I like it on dedicated PVP servers, it makes for a fun atmosphere. (When it's only used for text, of course.) For immersive survival style gameplay though, it's not so good. These tips are always worth reposting: In audio settings, turn down VON. You won't hear idiots talking on sidechat any more, but you will still hear Direct voice. In control mappings, delete Caps Lock from Push To Talk, and reassign it to Talk On Direct. That way you won't accidentally broadcast your voice across the server, and you can talk to locals + type global without the need to fiddle with channel switching. -

Thanks for the comments, all :) Minor tweaks today: Prettied up the thumbnails and page layout a little, and massaged the ammo chart so it's a bit friendlier to view in the Steam browser. Weird! Some reading seems to suggest (although it's pretty thin information) that Steam will close the overlay if it thinks there are stability issues with the game. Apparently it can do this if there are heavy CPU spikes. Does this happen in all games or just Arma/Dayz? How's the load on your CPU?Another long shot, make sure you're not opted in to Steam betas. This caused all sorts of nasty issues for me the other day (crash when joining chat room, etc). -

Apparently you do need a key changer if you buy from GOG and want to play online. Something to do with them not having unique key generation built into their backend, because they are a DRM free store. It's all above board, just weird. But yeah, GOG support is where Flizz should be asking. I bet there are a ton of threads in their forums answering this.

It's a Necessary Evil :-pThink of it this way; they have to design features around fair gameplay, not hackers. Allowing combat logging just because it protects you from hackers is not something you want to see on a feature list. The hacking issue must be dealt with by other means. As players, we can deal with it by finding better servers. Thanks to all who have worked on this! -

In my experience, the chance seems to be something like 1 in 40 (just going by how often it happens to me, vs how often I'm taking on zeds). Or maybe it's 1 in 50 or 100, I dunno. But the threat is always there, so it's never safe to assume you can get close to them and patch up any damage later.
