As it is with many Dayz servers. Though I'm pretty sure the server I play on is "vanilla" 2017 and it does not give you anything other than a backpack to begin with.

Not sure about patch notes list but here's a starter: -no canned drinks. water bottles only. -you can eat zeds, although it will make you sick. -you can eat other players -it seems as though your chance of infection by zombie melee is increased -modified skins (player, vehicle, backpacks, tents) -no military loot. airfields/barracks are relatively worthless -gyrochopper -zeds spawn everywhere. even in the woods. -you spawn without any items. not even bandages.

If your intention is simply to survive then engaging other players should be your last priority. Unless you're some kind of pvp god. Even the best player killers inevitably shorten their life expectancy by shooting - if for no other reason than the fact that it aggros other players within earshot. All things being equal (i.e., no hackers to tele-kill me) I can survive virtually indefinitely if I'm stealthy and avoid PvP. It's when other players are involved that the length of time I spend alive changes dramatically. If you're interested in finding buddies then advertise for a partner. Find one you like and travel together. Alternate oversight/infil so neither of you gets bored but you always have someone watching over you.

The first item on Phooey's list doesn't apply to PvP. If you take it slow you're just a slower moving target. Unless you're sniping.

1. Confirmed on all the servers I've ever played on. 2. Never heard of a limit, though I'd imagine it would cap at some ridiculously negative number. 3. Usually your skin won't change from the bandit skin unless you die. That's how it works with the hero skin, anyways. Once you die your new humanity-based skin should pop in. 4. In the community I'm a part of I've seen people with less than -100,000 humanity. So yes.

You're clearly whitelisting with some shit outfits. Go for balota buddies. Incredibly high rep private hive community (2000+ members) that includes many of the admins/moderators here on the forums. The admins don't take getting killed personally, shit, some kid was bragging on the BB forums the other day how he murdered the creator of the community on one of the australian servers. Steak and Potatoes is the US head admin and, for some odd reason, loves getting killed by other players. BB has multiple servers: vanilla, weapons +, Namalsk, Celle, 2017. Whitelisted/private hive or public. Aus, UK, and US servers. Get whitelisted for one, get whitelested for all. It's not an issue with Dayz, it's an issue with the servers you're choosing.
