Agreed. I'm on an FX 8120 (8 core) overclocked to 4.1GHz and worst case scenario (60 people on server, fighting in elektro) I will hover around 19 fps. That is with 'High' settings, not maxed out, post processing disabled and antialiasing turned on low. I've played on a laptop with 2.3 GHz dual core and HD 3000 Integrated graphics but it wasn't fun.

Your ability to engage them when they pulled around to the flank is what saved that fight, I think. I didn't know where they were until I heard them returning fire. That was short, sweet, and fun.

Ditch playwithsix and download dayz commander. Install dayz via dayzcommander and make sure it's updated. Word of mouth has it that you have to run both Arma II and Operation Arrowhead single player (at least once) before running Dayz.

I prefer first person but I don't use it in firefights because the opponent will have an advantage if they're using 3rd person (which they more than likely are). Should have added that option in the poll.

Stay out of major cities. More players = more zombies = more lag. Edit:That probably doesn't make sense. You're just more likely to encounter other players in large cities... and the zombies they spawned.

I wish the 8350 had been out when I did my homebuild. And extra 1 GHz for $20 (compared to my 8120). I'm assuming the 8350 is AM3+ so it's probably compatible with my mobo, that'll have to be my next upgrade.

I'm a little curious how Windows Movie Maker packages their HD 1080p files because they come out beautiful and relatively small. I recently switched to Premiere CS6 and it looks like shit unless I'm willing to crank up the file size to the digital equivalent of my anus. I'll do some experiments with Premiere later today and I'll let you know what I find.

Fires shouldn't give you that much trouble. Something is occurring that shouldn't be occurring. Try placing your fire somewhere else. Is it just fires that are causing you problems or are other menus doing the same?
