'Trust no-one' - is that really good advice?
fathairybeast replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I used to lonewolf on public servers I almost never had any issues (other than hackers). I know this is the exception to the rule but about 80% of my interactions with other players was positive. I think that there is a lot to be said about who you allow to see you, how you position yourself when you see other players, what you say, where you meet them, etc. I usually hung around low population servers in quiet areas so whenever I ran into another survivor they were usually doing the same thing as myself: just getting by, doing their own thing. A lot of these guys blitz into cherno on a 30+ pop server (where one bad apple puts everyone in the city on guard) and then complain about getting shot when they sprint into a store looking at another player down the barrel of their gun... doesn't make sense to me. Or rather, it makes perfect sense why they end up getting killed on sight. -
Well there's your problem. Click on my sig, if you don't want to go to the trouble then you have to deal with hackers or shitty hives.

Nein, I'm not enough of a tool to put ads on such a shitty video, fucking youtube "matched' the ad since I used the jaws theme. Anyways, this big mil-sim clan is on our server and likes to grief so I like to return the favor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF5ShccjQrc

i hear you doug. but keep in mind it is a Weapons+ server... that's the idea behind a weapons+ server. The whitelisted servers are not like that.

When you get tired of hackers and Private Hives that disappear after 2 weeks come join Balota Buddies. I kept bouncing around on different public servers and shit private hives until I landed at Balota Buddies.

I'll never forget the day you tugged at my heartstrings as George Smith. -
I had the same issue and had to concoct my own method of solving it. Step 1: Go to Start>RUN Step 2: Type "regedit" & hit enter Step 3: Right click on "HKEY_Local_Machine" select find and search for "wow6432node" Step 4: Right click on "wow6432node" select find and search for "Bohemia Interactive Studio" Step 5: Expand the "Bohemia Interactive Studio" folder and you will see "Arma 2" & "ArmA 2 OA" folders. Step 6: Right click on the "ArmA 2 OA folder and rename to whatever, put a "1" at the end. Just so its different than what is originally was. Step 7: Right click on "Bohemia Interactive Studio" folder Select New>Key Step 8: Rename folder created to "ArmA 2 OA" Step 9: Right click on the new folder created and select New>Binary Value Step 10: Rename the new file created to "KEY" Step 11: Download Key Changer at http:www.cng-concepts.net/files/arma2oa_keychanger.rar Step 12: Run the .exe downloaded and enter your CD key with no dashes. You can find your Steam CD key by right clicking on ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead in the steam library>View CD key Step 13: After you enter your CD key hit enter 2x, until it closes. ( credit for that part goes to Dragonx2x Then battleye wouldn't initialize. So I went to the Bohemia Interactive folder in program files (x86) and deleted it (edit: deleted the Battleye folder, not the Bohemia Interactive folder). I then went to the arma 2 OA folder, Battleye setup, and ran the battleye setup for OA. At this point I had to reinstall OA Beta in my library on steam I ran Operation Arrowhead (not the beta) via steam to make sure battleye initialization was complete happy dayz, all was well.

Our clan was given a contract to make a mil-sim group's life a living hell. This is step 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF-oo5QI68M

Broken windows = leaking fuel. Fact: You can make it from Polana to NWAF on 3 jerry cans. I have seen it happen. (edit: in a huey).

Ask your questions and I shall answer them :)

Are you the Darryl Dixon that play on US 46? ...I suppose I could just ask the Darryl on our Teamspeak... -
It would be fun for a little while, I'm sure. But once you get your bearings in the game you'll find the zombies are a bit of a joke... What makes Dayz a rush is the PVP aspect, whether or not you kill people. Because eventually you'll have to go into a town looking for supplies and you'll bump into a player who doesn't want your company.

1. I think it's worth going up North because, well, it's not worth going up North - There's no reason to go up North if all you're interested in is gearing up (military spawn is completely removed). But as a result not many people are going to head up that far, making it perfect for setting up camp and remaining hidden. 2. All the vehicles I found were at standard spawn points. 3. High value residentials, barns, etc. Ignore military spawns. 4. All military weaponry is removed, so a CZ550 is pretty swingin'.

I tried a non-pvp server once.... was bored to tears.

Balota buddies has servers based in AU, UK, and the US. I'm one of those guys whose sigs you can click to get there.

US46 is part of the Balota Buddies community. Although there are some added modifications, none of it is so much that it negatively impacts gameplay. There is a supermarket added into a few towns, there are barracks at NEAF (nice alternate to the cluster that occurs at NWAF), there is a suicide prevention center at Kamenka (a supermarket and a couple of military/medical tents to dissuade suicidal tendencies). If you're interested click on my sig.

Pilot looking for a clan
fathairybeast replied to FatherSarge (DayZ)'s topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Join Balota Buddies. BB is not a clan it's private hive community however - We have dozens of independent clans running on our servers, one of which is composed of exclusively pilots. Most of them are real-life military pilots so they take their job seriously. They run joint ops with some of the more organized infantry clans. -
are hackers still rampant?
fathairybeast replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you join balota buddies' whitelisted servers you won't have any issues. -
Looking to join clan because of hackers
fathairybeast replied to masterkron's topic in New Player Discussion
Being in a clan has nothing to do with server stability / security. Find a good, solid private hive community.
