Actually, that's not a half-bad idea. Maybe when a player attaches a scope, set the cross hairs at some random point off center. The player would then have to zero the scope by firing it at a target a known distance away and adjusting the elevation and windage manually. It would certainly cut down on the sniper-fests. Not sure what the OP is going on about. M4 parts don't fit on the Mosin which doesn't fit on the SKS etc etc. And newer NATO weapons use standard Picatinny accessory rails anyhow. So I would think if they put M4s, M16s, SA80s and so on and so forth, most modern attachments would fit most modern weapons.

Proper Evisceration & Decapitation Would Be Nice

Speakin of Australian, mate... The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel. It'll take ya 10 minutes to hack through it with this. If you're lucky...you can hack through your ankle in 5... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2x8RhadlpA -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
bfisher replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Meh...keep at it. -
Fire? It rains like every 5 minutes in Chernarus.
-
It does unless you want to have it so it takes 3 days to die of thirst and a month to die of hunger. I don't see why people want a 24 hour day/night cycle. Who plays this for days straight?
-
Can't wait!! 3100 new objects to glitch through!
-
Do any of those games feature 250 sq km maps? Who cares what the graphics look like if the devs can't crack the very difficult AI problem of having zombies wander aimlessly until they detect a player, and then charge straight at them without passing through other objects?

What do you think full modding support will do to DayZ
bfisher replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
Maybe they could mod DayZ Standalone into a zombie survival game like someone did with ArmA II? -
I found a green pepper today.

DayZ isn't about "meeting people". It's about long hours of lonely wandering through the wilderness, occasionally punctuated by excitement and terror, followed by relief or rage.

Where do you get attacked as a new spawn the most?
bfisher replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I've been hanging out along the road around Kamy and Sol. Not really intending to kill anyone. Just looking to meet people and see what happens. What happens is these crazy gearless noospawn keep doing crazy shit! I was talking to one guy with a shotgun on his back and he all of a sudden tried to knock me out with his fists. My SKS punches harder. Unfortunately, the commotion attracted the attention of two more passers-by and they were carrying long rifles. So playing it safe, I had to quickly dispatch them. Switching to pistol to finish off the wounded, all of a sudden I'm attacked by a fourth player with an ax! So now I have to put him down as well! What the heck is wrong with people?! -
To be honest, the "idea" of the SA is very cool, as is much of what has already been implemented. I like being able to enter nearly any building and the ability to coble together whatever character you like from whatever scraps you find. I also like how (theoretically) there is more interaction with the environment in that your equipment and clothes can wear out or get damaged, you can drink from ponds, collect rainwater, eat berries, can get sick from rotten fruit (which may be better than starving), you get wet (and can presumably eventually get sick)so on and so forth. Basically just staying alive should be a constant chore if there weren't zombies or psychotic players. That said, it still feels very much like a work in progress (ergo "alpha"). A lot of stuff from the mod doesn't exist yet - vehicles, tents and other storage, road flares, throwing shit, variety of weapons, hunting and fire building, and of course, zombies. And there's a lot of stuff they've talked about that was never in the Mod that probably needs to be in the SA to make it a more interesting game (base building, more map, whatever). Even the eating and drinking dynamic lacks that sense of urgency you used to have in the Mod where you felt like you really needed to constantly find food soon or die. Now it feels like once I stuff my face or fill up at the nearest pond, I'm basically set. So overall, my opinion is that the SA is off to a decent enough start, but still needs a lot of work.

Sorry. I'm just legitimately confused and frustrated about people who complain about getting killed by other players.

Solving problem of kill on sight - Vehicles.
bfisher replied to Outroduce's topic in General Discussion
Vehicles would discourage KoS? That's so cute! In the mod, vehicles were routinely used to: a) Run over people b) Rapidly assault places like the NWAF or Cherno c) Pick up new spawns on the coast, drive them to the middle of nowhere and either kill them or make them fight to the death. Or sometimes they'd just hit a rock and explode. -
I'm so sick of these whiny babies. It's a survival game. Not a dress up your character and collect a bunch of shit game. Your pissed off because you get killed by bands of well armed, well organized bandits? Well who do you think you should be killed by? No one? How do you not notice you're being stalked by six people? I don't understand how people don't get the PvP KoS aspect of this game. Literally the first thing I ever heard about this game was that other players would kill you for beans or sport. The first video I watched consisted of a gang of bandits driving some bambis into the woods and making them fight to the death. It's a core part of the game. What do people want to do? Collect hats?

Solving problem of kill on sight - Vehicles.

This is what would happen in the mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNzfgl_H5vA -
How were they "blasting music". I know Rocket had discussed being able to play radios awhile back, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been implemented.

This may come as a shock, but firearms are exported all over the world. I'm sure you can find an M4 in the Eastern Europe just as you can find an AK in the USA.

Top o' the mornin' to ya guvna'! Catch any game out in the moors?

Dayz has just become a little more interesting...
bfisher replied to drewsta's topic in General Discussion
I had noticed that too. After spending a week living off collected rainwater in the attic of a factory in Electro, I decided to skip town. I was a bit surprised when I got cornered by 5 zombies in a firehouse and had to put them down with one of my pistolas. I don't think they are particularly threatening though. And the fact that they still warp through buildings and just stand there waiting does take some of the immersion out of the game. So it feels less like avoiding zombies and more like avoiding zombie spawning traps. -
Boring? I've spent the past week boarded up in the attic of a factory in Electro I Am Legend style. It's got few entry points, good cover, I've got plenty of food, a commanding view of the surrounding town with my SKS and now I can catch rainwater in my water bottle.

It might be worthwhile in the game to go looting in the rain if everyone else is hunkered down. IMHO, weather effects is one of the things that will make this game great for the people who like what the game is supposed to be. The only people who will hate it are the KoS kiddies who want to grab a sniper rifle and turn it into Call of Duty. I means Chernarus looks like the sort of place where survival was a challenge BEFORE the zombie apocalypse. Dealing with weather, staying dry, hydrated, fed, keeping your equipment in order, not getting sick or injured should be a struggle if there wasn't a single other player or zombie around. And I don't mean in a "OMG I opened a door and my legs broke!" sort of way.

I never seem to find full or nearly full servers anymore. So where is everyone? They all seem like they have around a dozen players. I'm in the Northeastern USA FWIW.
