[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Skint (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I understand your points and I was wrong. However, I'm still totally against any kind of heatmap due to it being against the mod's core principles. -
I'm hearing a lot of negative feedback.
Skint (DayZ) replied to Shard (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want to be safe, stay on 1.7.1.5. 1.7.2 works and my character and gear survived the switch, but it cannot be guaranteed (I saved most my gear and went in light just in case). I've switched between 1.7.1.5 and 1.7.2 several times today OK. The zeds are hyper sensitive though, so avoid them like a bad smell. I aggroed them in dark, prone, still, 50m away and they weren't even looking at me! Zed's won't be fixed until 1.7.2.2. -
Six Launcher - Easy Install/Update, Find/Join DayZ servers, worldwide network
Skint (DayZ) replied to sickboy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Don't bother with any launcher/updater application, they are more trouble than they are worth. Just do it manually, it is very easy, just a matter of downloading files, extracting, then copy and pasting. If you keep old versions you can rollback when the new updates don't work (I have files back to 1.7.1). Kep yourself in control and you will reduce the impact of any problems. -
[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Skint (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Actually, I have died in middle of nowhere/away from civilisation: shot in woods by Bandit; shot in a Deer Stand; killed by rock glitch; killed by zeds in remote barn. It is actually pretty common. -
Experimental 1.7.2.1 test patch
Skint (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Why isn't important release details like this not on Twitter or a new Forum thread instead of being buried in an old thread like this? C'mon, let us know what is happening with these developments. We need more information regarding these updates with details of what the implications are and explanations of new features/fixes in plain english. Don't just expect everybody to understand the techie stuff and the changelogs are not always easy to decipher. More info, guidelines and warnings please. -
Latest beta patch (94876) not backwards compatible?
Skint (DayZ) replied to 1mpuls3's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I just rolled back to 94700 OK, the above simple method worked for me (I have retail Arma OA). So much for BiS claiming "not able to rollback beta patches". Ha! Also, some more visible warning on this forum about this patch's effect would have been nice. -
Latest beta patch (94876) not backwards compatible?
Skint (DayZ) replied to 1mpuls3's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
From BiS Arma 2 Beta Test Forum: "** this beta is 1.61.xxxxx and not MP compatible with old 1.60 betas" Just checked server list and only about 15-20 had updated. Hopefully the rest will update soon. -

Skint (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info

What was rocket wearing?
Skint (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's unique to rocket (Rocket_DZ in code), not a playable skin, just Dev's privilege. -
Wow, only 1 Bandage and 1 Morphine. Living dangerously mate.

UK 20 & UK 21 - Info & Discussion
Skint (DayZ) replied to frosties's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just a query regarding the server. I connected today (Wed) at 12:30 ish (GMT+1) and my tent had gone. Did you have a problem with the server/reset/hive? EDIT: Connected today (Thurs) and tent (and contents) back again, great news. I see the server updated to the latest beta patch so prob that was cause? -
Server restart - Everything wiped [Cars, tents, etc.]
Skint (DayZ) replied to Energ's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Connected to UK 20 this morning, my tent has gone. Saved in OK last night. Very bad timing as I had just filled it! Hey-ho, back to looting... -
[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Skint (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I can't believe you are actually going ahead with this contentious issue. Can we have a message from Rocket regarding his views on it? -

How to contact server admin?
Skint (DayZ) replied to BobbyBonesJones's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I've wanted to do this too. There should be a notification in the Lobby and the Player List (P) who is an Admin (if connected). -
Appeal to server admins. Re: Server names / name tag settings
Skint (DayZ) replied to SystemiK's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Do away with Reg, Vet, etc, keep it simple and generic like this: DayZ - US 1 Chicago GMT-5 [3P=Y CH=N DM=N NP=N PV=Y WP=Y] (1.7.1.5/93695) Hosted By somebody/Hoster.com I reckon time should be next to server location and version/beta after settings. Keep most important info at the front. -
Server wide map markers?
Skint (DayZ) replied to corruptshadow's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Do you mean black circles with a cross in them? If so, the Arma manual says this (applies to Multiplayer): Map Markers A map marker is a visual aid placed on the Map. Double-click the LMB anywhere on the map to place a map marker in that location. This marker is visible to everyone in the selected chat channel (e.g. placing a map marker while in the Side channel ensures only other players on your side will see it). A marker can be deleted by hovering your mouse cursor over it and pressing Delete. It seems the chat channel determines who can see the markers, so if in a group you should use Direct Channel. I always delete them when I see them! -
hmmm, I wonder where you got the idea.... http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13296

Server Tags Demystified: How To Find The Right Server
Skint (DayZ) replied to howichrgelazer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
A few things: Note on time: "UTC = GMT" - Many servers express time in UTC. Other Difficulty Levels Used: Expert Hardcore Other server options: - Way Points (WP) - see "Germany 4" for example. - Peripheral Vision Markers (could be PV?) - None have this listed, but is on or off on many servers. -

Remember the old saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". -
Was the threat ever zombies?
Skint (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zeds are just a mild irritant, a moving puzzle that you can solve to get what you need. Players have always been the main focus of the mod. It's an experiment in human psychology in a virtual world. Wouldn't have taken a genius to figure out what has happened in that scenario to be honest. Zombies were/are/will be a triviality. -
Arma 2 Beta Patch 93965 - Gear Not Dropped When Swimming!
Skint (DayZ) replied to Skint (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That was in the last one, 93825. -
A Forum in the DayZ section where Rocket can start threads asking for feedback on specific elements of the Mod or feedback on recent patches/hotfixes after we have tested it. Currently there is chaos, as information is spread over several forums (Announcements, General Discussion, Bug Reports, etc.) with differing titles and subjects. Rocket has requested feedback on specific issues in those threads, but the replies get lost in the mire of general rantings. If the Feedback forum had a prescribed format, in a similar style of the Bug Report forum, hopefully it would make gathering information quick and easy. Rocket get's the info he needs and we know where and how to provide it, a win win situation.
