combat mechanisms are not game breaking stuff. no need to spend workforce on this until at least beta.
-
Also, please define combat logging. Because, i'm sure players with different playing styles (from the survivalist who tries to avoid all contact to the bandit camping in Elektro/Balota/Cherno) will have different takes on what is or isn't fair game.
-
Really? The few times i've tried fighting zeds with bare hands, it was taking forever to put them down. And the ArmA engine is HORRIBLE when it comes to melee fighting :/
-
Are you kidding me ? Sure you can move around freely (open world), but the amount of things you can do... 99% of the activities consist in shooting guns and driving various vehicles. Even older games like GTA offer more varied gameplay... ps: Minecraft IS a sandbox game.
-
Same goes for people who use teamspeak or other 3rd party communication software... Last i checked, survivors weren't supposed to communicate if they aren't in shouting range. (which is shorter than shooting range ;) )

DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.

I thought DayZ was a sandbox game ? You know... in the sense that can play it any way you like and do lots of different stuff. Well... it seems that there are some 8 year old bullies in the sandbox and they won't let the other kids play in THEIR sandbox... -
Yeah... I played the mod about the whole 2012 year. But I know nothing about DayZ... As for not knowing 'how to play it'... I'm told all the time that it's a sandbox game. I thought there was no right way to play in a sandbox...

This is a setting where STUFF PERIODICALLY SPAWNS IN KNOWN PLACES. Hell, even PEOPLE RESPAWN !!! This is not real life. Don't talk about realism...
-
And if he has no melee weapon ? :)
-
Make humanity reset on respawn. This way each avatar is unique and you can choose to roleplay it anyway you like. Each spawn is different. This is not the same person coming back again and again...
-
And what's the point of killing bambi ? You're already geared up. What does he have that you don't ?
-
It would only be boring because there is nothing to work forward to. No objective. Just a bunch of loonies fighting for guns and vehicles. In this situation, in real life, my main concern wouldn't be to get a gun. I'd push north, east or west. Anything but staying in this stupid place...
-
I can't modify the environment. This is not a sandbox game. I'll concede it's an open world though. :)
-
Agreed. I mean, people keep saying this is a sandbox game. Time to prove it! ps: it's NOT a sandbox game
-
:D Don't forget this one, from Rat Race, "I'm prairie dogging it."
-
Sure. Say you have about 30 different spawn locations all over the map (in forests primarily i guess, it's not about spawning in barracks or AC towers). I don't like the odds of getting a spawn location that will allow me to MAYBE have revenge. Killer will be long gone by the time I make it back...
-
Yeah... and that's why most veteran players run like hell to Balota (or the nearest fire station) on respawn, never mind the zeds or the bandits waiting for them. After all they have the proverbial 'nothing to lose' mindset. If they're killed, they'll respawn minutes later... Day #1 in DayZ is a JOKE. People should be scared. They're not. Fail.
-
Sorry but that background story is trash. Almost a month into the game and people keep being washed along the shores of Chernarus ? What is it ? Groundhog Day ?
-
When people commit SUICIDE in a SURVIVAL game... something's wrong...
-
no it's not.
-
Instead of tents, i'd like the ability to bury stuff into the ground. Unless you're right on the spot, you see nothing. I don't need a tent to hide a few bins and drinks.
-
What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?
Fabik replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Map is much too big for a majority of players. -
## hour player lock / Gear locked to server!
Fabik replied to WarAndRuin's topic in General Discussion
1 server <=> 1 character wanna play on another server ? have another character. -
^ this I've been wanting this ever since i started playing the mod. Even without containers, hiding small stuff should be easy. Dig a hole, put your beans inside said hole, cover hole. Done. Just have to remember the exact spot. :P
-
What, exactly, is the point of this game?
Fabik replied to Zascha-Geriko's topic in General Discussion
Minecraft = sandbox DayZ =/= sandbox Give me a shovel to dig holes and an axe that can actually chop trees, and that will be a step in the right direction. edit: the Lego analogy is a good one. DayZ is like a Lego box where all you'd have are characters, a few tools (mostly weapons) and... NO BUILDING BLOCKS !!! The scope of what you can imagine with that stuff is really narrow.
