  1. I like that approach, sounds fun! Like team deathmatch with more than two teams. And in clans you can also expect a better atmosphere and cooperation, people still shoot each other, and likely throw fits once in a while :) But it's much more friendly than on open servers where some people just flip out entirely. Although I do believe it's somewhat against the original idea of the mod, I believe Rocket wants (wanted?) us to play in a more "open" way (my thoughts below). Care to elaborate as to why? I like the idea of the official hive in that it opens up for interaction with more people, not at the same time but logging in two days in a row can very well mean playing with ~80 different people. This is how I believe Rocket intended it to be, more players interacting, forming temperary bonds, separating and meeting up again later. I really like the idea of this, but it is difficult with the current mod limitations as you simply can't expect people to "play according to the rules" unless there are strict regulations. Standalone should be able to handle this better... who knows... True, but you also have a smaller "community" and not as much ineraction with unknown players. As I've said, I like the idea of both open and private servers. And of course, the perfect blend would be my choice if available. So let's hope standalone does that ok? :)
  2. Shite, that snake is in deep shit now. The rat is going into berzerk mode, just look at his eyes! And Byrg, I'm gonna have a look at that animal thing tonight, not making any promises though...

Why is the M14 so overlooked?

This is actually true in normal ArmAII as well. Many people ignore the M14 in favor of the plethora of other weapons available. But I've always liked it, for the same reasons already stated I guess. I've always preferred semi-automatic over fully automatic for some reason.
  4. So, first look at the game. I didn't get to do much but it was fun, the zombies were annoying and felt like something I at least want to avoid. But still not impossible to get rid of if discovered, might be too easy to loose them, but it was getting dark I guess. Found some loot, most of it from Ryan who was nice enough to get killed by zombies right in front of me ;) - Sorry mate, had no weapons so couldn't help you out. Got that wonderfully mixed feeling of "Oh no he's going to die and I can't help him!" and "Oooh he's going to die and drop all his gear!" :D I kept the Enfield over an FN FAL because there were just one mag, but I get the feeling that was a mistake. Got lots of ammo for the Enfield though... So far haven't killed anything, Let's see what my next player encounter leads to... :P
  5. Lol, the install and connection to the server went completely flawless, not a single hick-up :) Only problem now is setting my controls back to what I'm used to and getting the mic running. Edit: Ok so the mic isn't working at the moment, playing a little without it tonight.
  6. Downloading and installing as I type. We'll see if I manage to get everything in the right places. You may expect a DayZ supernewbie on your server tonight! :P Let's see if I got things right: 1 - Spend 15 minutes creating a character and staring at loading screens. 2 - Spawn on the island. 3 - Run full speed to a house and find a weapon. 4 - Shoot like crazy to draw some Z attention. 5 - Die like a man! 6 - Repeat from step 2 That's right no?
  7. So hackers are a big issue in DayZ. And DayZ is all about the players choosing how to play. Isn't there anyone out there who has made it their mission to grief the heck out of any hacker they see? I mean there are people trying to be serious and helping newbs or playing as medics. I get the feeling someone should have thought of using hacks just to hack the hackers? Of course, it's punishable by banning so pretty risky for someone who actually cares about the game but still, anyone thought about it? Maybe finding the hackers when they are online is too difficult and not worth the effort? Just thinking out loud here...

Middle age men who play Dayz

Haha, I'm always impressed when seeing these old machines and hearing people talk about playing on them :) I started out with a NES system, but I probably could have started with something slightly older if I just had been introduced to it. I got seriously hooked on the NES and wasted looooads of hours on that thing. My childhood is basically NES and LEGO, best toys ever! :) I'm far from middle age though, closing in on thirty now. But on the other hand, if someone presents some statistics on average age for the video gaming community I'd probably be old... All those 5 year olds really push the average age down...
  9. Heh, I started thinking of getting into DayZ - specifically this server - last week and immediately they release a new version of DayZ and you update to another server software. Causing all sorts of wierd results... Is it a sign? ;)

    Dinosaurs !!!

Not suitable for DayZ at all, zombies and dinosaurs don't mix. But as a separate mod for ArmAII? Hell yeah! :) Give it a similar setup as DayZ but with dinosaurs instead of zombies. So, DayD? ... ;)
