    Zeds aggro/spawn is ridiculous!

Just relax awhile and try adapting. I don't think it was very prudent to wait 24 hours from patch day to come to the forums looking for nerfs :/ To me the changes seem great so far, I just wish they had fixed the retard mode when players run into a tree. Now instead of completely loosing interest the zombies just stand there and wail on you doing zero damage.

    Knocked out.. forever. Help?

Ya, I've been playing on the bmrf servers.

    Knocked out.. forever. Help?

My character has been unconscious on the public hives for 5 months now. The "hour glass" is infinite.

    Main hive anarchy

I wasn't trying to be a dick TBH. I'm always on the look out for decent private hive servers and I don't see any info listed anywhere on BB. I asked about BB because you are advertising them in your signature, I don't think it was to far fetched to presume you might have been talking about them, ya?
  5. DayZ Origins is Hack (safe?)Haven. They are EVERYWHERE on those servers.

    Main hive anarchy

Could you please share with us what is so inherently different about BB from the rest? I can't find a server description anywhere online for BB.
  7. The answer is no, you can't. Even if you remove it from the game itself there are a vast number of ways to increase it outside of the game. That is unless you plan on building computers specific to dayz and marketing them with the game. That being said, DayZ is plenty dark enough. The problem is 99% of the population begs for all full moon nights.
  8. The reason people play dayz like a death match is because there is not enough content to realisticly play it any other way. Theoretically Dayz could develop incredibly intelligent AI, and flood the game with mechanics like getting sick to hinder that style of game play and promote a more collectively friendly atmosphere between strangers. But. That isn't what people play Dayz for in general. Most people fall in love with Dayz for it's introduction of open and vast world player vs player. I don't see anything wrong with that, and I think this should be harnessed as much as possible and incorporated into the long term development. Dayz is like BF 3, but bigger, with no structure, and incentive to not die. That is AMAZING. However, I do see your concern. I see how 95% of private hives are influencing the Dayz population in a manner which promotes more expendable gameplay where killing people becomes the only objective. I think the battles should have meaning behind them. For example, over resources. When you add in to much extra vehicles, hospitals, military grade loot, and stores the gameplay becomes expendable. No one is afraid of dieing, and the gun fights become just killing people for the sake of killing people. This is where I think Dayz could take a page out of the guidwars2 playbook. Specifically dynamic events. It's not enough to just make zombies more efficient at chasing you, or disabling you, or harder hitting. There needs to be a reason behind interacting with zombies, if you have any hope of players whom don't know each other working together. What if the zombie Apocalypse had friendly AI? Like a retired General that knows the location of a weapons stash. Imagine a server wide announcement that the General is offering rewards for anyone who will help escort him to this weapons stash. The location where the general spawns would be completely random, his pathing to the stash would be random, and the location of the stash would be random. Along the way of the escort Zombies from areas relevant to the path of the general to the stash would starting leaving their posts and migrating to areas where they might intercept the general. Upon successfully reaching the stash, a crate could spawn which showed items specific for individual players who looted it with a % chance to give various loot. Maybe you need someone there with X lockpicking skill to open it. Now, this creates a much more rich atmosphere. You aren't just creating additional pve content. There will be bandits along the way to also hinder your mission. It sort of a mix of GW2 and Wasteland, with a zombie Apocalypse flavor. This is just one tiny little example of the possibilities the dev team have available to them for long term development. I really think dynamic events would add the content to this game which it needs. This type of thing adds so much more to the long term viability of the game then focusing on things such as just simply making it easier for a zombie to kill you, or sickness, or broken legs. Instead of focusing on making the game frustrating, how about we focus more on making it fun. I also think that there needs to be skills implemented on characters. When a character dies their skill levels get reduced by a certain %. This is probably the most effective way to insure the game is about surviving, not careless expendable death-matching. Sort of like the BF3 unlock system, but of course developed in a way specifically for the purpose of Dayz from the ground up.

DayZ SA: One Key One Character

This is actually a really good idea. No disconnecting and coming back with a different name. No changing your name in TS to try and infiltrate other squads as your in-game name will eventually lead to being discovered. I don't see any reason supporting not doing it aside from the streamers, and I don't think the game should revolve around people streaming after standalone. It was a great tool to this point.

    Memory hacking in Standalone

My honest opinion is that hacking/script using will kill off this game within the first 5 months. There are two reasons for this. First and foremost is the complete lack of attention and later recognition of the issue in the mod. The second reason is directly related to how you saps out there insist that, "Nothing can be done about it", "Hacking will always exist". You people are freaking pathetic. There are secure applications out there all over the world run on billions of devices which very rarely if ever have their security compromised. The reason this is an issue with video games is very easy to understand at it's most basic level. In the video game industry it does not pay to have a secure game. Security in the gaming industry is directly correlated to the amount of money your game makes. So, rather then preempting these security breaches with good practice(and more man hours) they are left to manifest until which time as the user base describes the game as unplayable because of them. Now never forget that for each one player whom stop playing because of a hacker, there is a hacker out there whom bought 5-10 cd keys to hack with. I'm a certified .net engineer and I can tell you with absolute certainty that as soon as the gaming community out there collectively demands secure applications, web services, and data transfer - You will have it. Period. There is plenty of technology and government regulation out there available to developers for making secure applications. Making a secure application should be FIRST AND FOREMOST for any developer out there. If you are a developer and you issue a product riddled with security holes in it to be exploited then you are a failure. Period. For some reason you gaming developers out there are the only development group out there getting a free pass on selling software riddled with security holes for people to exploit. Gee, I wonder why? I wish I could say differently, but I don't think the people backing dayz will invest the necessary funds to keep the code secure and a script free environment. Hopefully in 6 months I will eat my words here and look a fool. I doubt it. Now, if you'll excuse me I need to get back to my work of of developing secure web applications and services. Because If tomorrow there should be a breach of security in one of them, or a database I will be looking for a new profession.
  11. Days+ is great and far more in line then most of these other private hives on how I think the game should be. Unfortunately today's typical Dayz gamer comes from a long history of being spoon fed everything and the inevitable main stream for Dayz mod will be the servers which dump everything all over the map making everything easy and accessible. I'm not talking about the majority of you people here on the forum, I'm more specifically talking about the million+ players that don't visit the forum and simply join the server with the most cars, or the most loot. It is my opinion that the private hives are a double edged sword. They were a great marketing tool in making the game playable by deleting the hackers, and gauging interest in various aspects of the game. While at the same time they are destroying the long term viability of the game by simply flooding as much of everything as they can into the server to see who can cram the most people onto the map. I think ultimately the private hives are destroying the game, and I think Rocket saw this issue early on when he showed some resistance to them. Unfortunately because of the nature of Arma, there really was nothing that could be done, hence he gave in. Reminds me of the old saying, "give an inch, take a mile.". I loved the plus and redux mods, unfortunately there just is never enough people playing them to justify winning the 20 or people over to them that I play with. To me this game had an incredible atmosphere to it before we were dealing with 80+ vehicles on the map and pissing contest to see who can pack more people into the server before it crashes. When I log in now, I feel like I'm logging into what i call expendable gameplay. It has completely ruined what Dayz was for me and I'd rather just go log into something like BF 3 for the type of expendable gameplay these private server are steering this game into. I'm still waiting for standalone though in the hopes the developers will not cave in to what the private servers are doing to the game. I do not hold high hopes though after the behavior I have seen across the board thus far. I think the private hives will be the tool with which BIS and Steam use to leverage rocket into catering the COD/BF3 crowd which wants everything with little to no effort.
  12. Piss poor customer relations to imply a release date for a certain month and then not even update on that implication throughout that entire month. I don't give a flying crap if DayZ gets released today tomorrow or 3 years from now. But lets not play **** **** to gain unwarranted attention at the cost of your own reputation. These are the "games" we have all grown extraordinarily tired of over the last decade. We haven't put in hundreds of hours each and untold time promoting to be jerked around like three year olds on "what Santa means". Let me know when I can start taking the developers seriously and I might start promoting the game again.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Defeat the point for who? Not your average gamer, that's for sure. Someone is going to release a dayz-like mod for arma III, and I will certainly try it.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Then why are you even here? People generally don't like being lied to. There is nothing childish about being upset because the developers were like hint hint December. Now that it's December it's all hush hush and December is almost over. They could release it tomorrow and it was still a bad move to hype a million people into believing it would be released in December and then have no update about release 3/4 of the way through the month. I myself had planned on giving this game to 5 people for Christmas. That Dean lead me to believe it would be released in December and then to make no official announcement on it right up until Christmas is just plain ignorant when taking into consideration the past unmet promises of a Christmas release dates for video games. It's not like we are breaking new ground here in releasing a video game, this is 2012! Honesty is always the best policy. The moral of the story here is don't inject unrealistic information into social networks for the sole purpose of unwarranted hype at the cost of respect from your dedicated players.
  15. I would have to say this is probably the best private hive in North America at the moment. I'm more of a "purist" oriented player, and right now I'm still choosing this server over any of the others. It's that good: Hackers are dealt with almost immediately on what seems like a 24/7 basis. I don't know how they do it! Player feedback greatly dictates server direction Virtually 0 hardware or server connectivity lag issues. When I lag it's almost always a problem on my own end. Player conduct is monitored, blatant disrespect and/or childish behavior is not tolerated. There are great people on all three servers to interact with and form an alliance with....or not... ;) No hassle white listing which is instant. This is a dream for people like me responsible for white listing groups of people. Admins and moderators available at all hours to help with issues such as lost items or other random game related issues. Hosted Teamspeak for you and your friends, possibly your own passworded channel if you are nice!
  16. Tried bringing some people over to try out this server but we get stuck on waiting for character to create. There is only 14 people in the server too :o I'll try bringing them back tomorrow night if things are running more smoothly then.
  17. Please do explain what exactly you are taking issue with out of these posts I have made in your thread: All valid questions here. I don't see what your issue is with me wanting to know this information. What is wrong with being surprised that your server doesn't have stmovment incorporated into it? All it does is fix blatant issues with player movement. I guarantee 90% of your members were also surprised to find you haven't implemented it, whether they voiced it or they didn't. My first night playing on your server I noticed it was clear as day for my entire session. Is it so far fetched to suggest it might be a full moon every night on your server like so many others? Would you feel better if I gave you a pat on the back and told you I think it was a good decision to make it that way if in fact you did make it that way? Is that what this is all about? I need to compliment you with every comment I make regardless if it is for or against you? At this point I think the only person trolling here is you. I have a crew of over 20 people I have been solely responsible for when it comes to what server we call home. So when these other servers start pulling the special treatment for donator card, the 60 extra building crap, the 160 vehicle retardation I need to come scour the forums and start looking for a server that can please all of these people. I like your purist idea. The anti-combat logging feature is pure genius. The flip vehicle thing is just amazing for ATV buffs like myself. No smoke at the chopper crashes is a great way to give people on the ground a way to compete with choppers. Your idea of what the weapon loot tables should look like is a great way to discourage people from camping and sniping places like Elektro.....etc...etc Now, there is your pat on the back. Can we be friends now?
  18. This is my first night playing in this server and I can see almost clear as day. Does it get dark at all? If it's full moon every night I don't see any purpose for a power grid.
  19. Nothing personal dude, relax. I'm just not looking forward to having to fight my way through doorways again, I haven't had to do it since playing public hives months ago.
  20. Ouch, this server doesn't have stmovment? :/ Isn't it a stand alone mod? should only take a few seconds to include it.
  21. A few questions if I may: Roughly how many land vehicles are there? How many choppers? Are there issues with them repairing, damaging upon server restart, or leaking fuel? Any added buildings? Do tents move upon server restart? Thanks
  22. How long does it usually take to get white listed here? I was just reading back some pages and I see people have been waiting a week or more? :o
  23. I got it to work by checking the override for dayz file path and changing it to: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZRedux Now looking for whitelist, IGN = Sternzy Your Inbox is full :)
  24. Yes sir I downloaded the mod from there, and I have the parameter set in commander.
