    Is anyone friendly anymore?

    I used to try and be friendly but I got shot too many times. I then moved on to avoiding people; if I saw someone I'd let them go and I'd change where I was going. Now I kill on sight most of the time. I still try to be a good guy though.. just before starting weapons were removed I saw some guy running to the woods I was in who had obviously just started. I was hoping he'd just go by and I wouldn't have to kill him but sure enough he tried to hide behind a tree and looked my way. If only he hadn't seen me he'd have lived

    Is 3rd person really going away?

    I can manage without 3rd person view, but I like using it when I'm just running through the countryside etc, just to have something to look at.

    If you're near steep hills, lead the zombies down them. Sometimes they can't handle them and just die... no idea why I can run down them and they can't, but hey :D
  4. I know what you mean OP :P I finally found a DMR in my first deerstand on my current life. My friend and I always see DMR mags everywhere and never the gun itself, so much so that it became kind of a joke to us... now I've finally found one I really don't want to die!

    Ammo count isn't accurate after reconnect.

    My clips have always refilled after logging out and in again. I've never used this specifically to increase my ammo as I believe this to be exploitative, but when I log off at night with a half empty mag it's full again the next day.

Six Updater is a horrendous program imho. Click "download dayz" on the main website and just download the raw files from US or SWE mirrors.

    They're not actually dead. So that helps. Think 28 Days/Weeks Later - "Infected" not rotten corpses. if they are not actually dead they are not actually zombies. That's why they are called infected. And being a zombie really has nothing to do with being dead. A zombie is a dead person who has come back to life. The people in 28 Days Later were infected with the 'rage virus', which reduces them to animalistic rage. Not once was the word 'zombie' used in those two films. DayZ is a zombie survival mod, so the 'infected' here have died and come back to life.

  9. Date/Time: 19/06/2012 21:40 GMT and earlier What happened: I noticed that when I picked up a tool, primary weapon ammo would be dropped from my active inventory. Notably it only seems to be ammo that cannot be used in the gun you're holding, e.g. I picked up a toolbox and lost my DMR mags; I was armed with an M1014. Earlier the same thing happened trying to pick up matches. Sometimes this results in unrecoverable items as the dropped ones simply disappear. EDIT: Also just dropped some DMR mags (my primary was AK74) when I went to pick up a G17, so it would appear trying to pick up tools/secondary weapons causes this. Where you were: Once in a supermarket; dropped mags were recoverable presumably due to flat floor. Once on a hill; mags were unrecoverable. What you were doing: Picking up a tool Current installed version: 1.7.1.4 Server(s) you were on: EU39 (? not sure.. doubt it's relevant)

    My point is that it shouldn't happen anyway :P Tools don't take up the same slot that primary weapon ammo does, so why drop primary weapon ammo?

    To the baby's moaning

    I enjoy the game and I think zombies DID need increased agro range, but not as much as they've been given now. When your only realistic stealth option inside 50m is prone crawling, this is just not fun. I've resorted to running and gunning down groups of zombies that I need to get past, which I'm sure is not what Rocket had in mind for the mod.

    Yeah' date=' I know this stuff, but my issue is with picking up tools and losing my ammo, which shouldn't really happen because tools occupy a different inventory area. Just wanted to be clear.. What's the most effective way to contact them? Sorry, this is not the same thing I'm talking about in the OP. I believe a hatchet counts as a primary weapon now, so picking an axe up would have a chance to delete your primary weapon. In the OP I was talking about picking up tools (map, matches, toolbox etc) causing primary weapon ammo to be dropped.

    ZOMBIE AGGRO RANGE IS TOO DAMN HIGH!

    I agree now that it's too high. I think it needed to be increased a little bit, but not as much as it has. I think the idea was to make players use more stealth, but now that I get agro from crouch walking at 75m or something I just don't want to even try stealth - I just run in and shoot them.
  15. I'm still going to play, but I agree, the agro range of zeds is a little too much right now. I can avoid them, yes, but nobody wants to crawl prone for hundreds of metres; it's not tense and it's not fun. Similarly, crouch walking is far too easily detected as you said, and when they inevitably see you it's not frustrating because it happens too much... it's just plain boring. They needed to be able to detect you a bit more because avoiding them was too easy around the ~1.6 versions, but I feel this is too much. On a side note, I noticed that my visibility when crouch running is exactly the same as when I'm crouch walking; only my audibility changes. Is this new or is it a bug?
  16. I do think agro ranges need to be toned down a bit, but I only played 1.7.1 and I believe their sight is locked to body direction again in 1.7.1.1 so that is fine. Also, going back to 1.7.0 would mean getting the starting makarov back, which I am against

  18. Upside 1: It's more challenging and fun for people who get the mod. Upside 2: When people are killed, they can't just rush back and try for instant revenge. Upside 3: It forces people to get into the feeling of the mod more. When I started a new life with the makarov, I didn't afraid of anything, I'd just run about trying to kill people until I got some gear, because if I died, hey, I'd get my gun back. Now I have to try and survive from the very start.

    It's not close to impossible. I found it just as possible as when I had a gun to start with. It's not even hard to find a gun. Yes, zombies agro more easily, but you can also lose them now... that's huge
