    No more global chat?

Apparently I'm the only one who disliked side chat, it really distracts from the game.
  2. I have 2 survivor kills (I am sincerely sorry, but you pointed your enfield at me and I was scared and your friend tried to avenge you) and my buddy has 3 (he's rude xD) but neither of us can hear any kind of heartbeat when we point our guns at each other. I really like the idea of this, as having at least a LITTLE hope that the person you are targeting might be friendly is more than none.
  3. Silly title, valid question. I had a zombie run up, bitch slap me through a wall in a grocery store last night at 11,500 blood, broke my leg and made me pass out for ~45 seconds. I would have died had my friends not been there. Is this "working as intended" (apart from the wall glitch) or are you only supposed to get knocked unconscious / broken legs at lower blood levels?

    Zombie behavior

I think the reason for this is the zombies only spawn when players get near them, and despawn when they leave. If, and I'm not arguing your points because I would love for this to be the case, they wandered all over the map though, most peoples computers would cripple under the number of zombies meandering about.

    How do broken bones work?

Fair enough, if it's working as intended I'm cool with it, I'd just like to know. Not necessarily an answer, but at least we have this now: * [FIXED] Too easy to break legs due to infected (reduced probability of leg damage, reduced amount of leg damage)

    Crossbow Bolts

I want to use the crossbow, I want to so bad. The inventory and difficult retrieval of bolts makes it very impractical though. I concur with your suggestions.

    Try this! Head Tracking (FaceTrackNoIR)

I set this up last night. I have a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, and it works well if I have my overhead light on or it's daytime. I have a few more adjustments to play with tonight after work. For those having issues; I am on Win 7 x64 and got it to work using the following - Uninstall FaceTrackNoIR Install the faceAPI > http://www.faceapi.com/Download/register.php (You have to register first) Install v1.6 FaceTrackNoIR (Make sure you load it up and you can see your face on the left) Close both programs completely Uninstall the faceAPI in Control Panel Right click the FaceTrackNoIR.exe and set it to "Run as Administrator" Right click the ArmA beta exe and set it to "Run as Administrator" Load ArmA, go to settings, controls, controllers and enable the Facetrack Load FaceTrackNoIR, load the ArmA preset, and click "start" You SHOULD at this point get some kind of movement in the game, from here just tweak your settings accordingly. I have some issues where sometimes I have to start ArmA FIRST, if I leave the FaceTrack crap running it screws up, but only with the ArmA beta.

    Loot Despawn

How long does it take for loot that you place on the ground to despawn?
  9. From my understanding the primary difference between silenced ammo and regular is the grain. It would be neat to have a facility (small workbench) say in factories or some other building where you could remove the grain from regular ammo to make it silenced ammo. There would be no going back, unless gunpowder was added as loot (unnecessary IMO). If this was implemented you could essentially remove silenced ammo from all the loot tables and force players to create their own. Open to further suggestions and modification.
  10. Please read the article I link below. I ran some (very basic) tests last night and overclocked my now outdated AMD Phenom II 810 (2.6Ghz). Essentially for every ~200Mhz bump I saw 3-5 FPS boost. I ran this test on Chernarus (not in DayZ) to ensure the FPS I was seeing was only impacted by my computer. I have tried everything setting under the Sun including overclocking my video card, nothing made the impact that overclocking my CPU did. Also, a couple things to keep in mind: - Some server owners (since 1.7.1.4) have been complaining of desync and bandwidth increases. (This is going to affect your gameplay experience) - Zombies are a lot more aware of their surroundings now. That's more scripts running through your CPU. - Your low frames have very little to do with your GPU. My friend on an old 9800GT+ is not having any issues unless there are 80 zombies on the screen. He does however have an i7. If you have an older GPU, it goes without saying you can't be rocking full FSAA/AS / 1080p. - Rocket is optimizing the game with each patch, and introducing things with each patch. Not every machine is going to be able to handle this game the same. I've been dealing with low <20 FPS on most servers since 1.5.8.1. Below is the link to the article: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,687620/ArmA-2-tested-Benchmarks-with-18-CPUs/Practice/ Find your CPU and see where you stack up. I realize this is an outdated article, but the principles still apply.

For those of you with FPS issues...

I noticed this as well, I try to keep as many of the settings that don't make a drastic (5+ FPS) change in framerate on high or very high.

For those of you with FPS issues...

I've tried every combination of every setting in there, and the settings in my Nvidia control panel. It HAS to be my CPU. Your i5 crushes my Phenom II in every sense of the word. Hell my CPU is probably a bottleneck for my 670.

For those of you with FPS issues...

What CPU do you have Cpt. Obvious? I can barely crack 60 FPS when out in a field with nothing around me in the REGULAR game. I have an Nvidia 670. Also another thing I forgot to mention, ensure that you put the 'Video Memory' setting to 'Default'. Anything other than that will restrict it to 512MB or less.
  14. TL;DR: Still having FPS issues, can anyone maybe even a developer answer why I have issues and my friend doesn't on the same server? EDIT: I was playing 1.7.1.1 last night. I was having fewer issues with 1.7.1, but almost every single 1.7.1.1 server gave me less than 5 FPS. So I bought ArmA II on May 15 specifically for DayZ. I've been playing almost daily since then. Somewhere around the 1.5.8.1 patch there was a huge FPS issue that was introduced, and then corrected a short time later. It's been off and on for the most part but I am still having FPS issues ever since that patch. My buddy who plays with me has NEVER experienced these issues on any server, EVER. I've also seen a considerable decline in the number of people complaining about FPS issues here on the forums which is starting to make me think something is wrong with my system. I server hopped for over 30 minutes last night and probably tried at least 15 different servers. Only two of those had good FPS, but I got kicked off of them after just a minute for the BattleEYE error #16. I have a pretty strong system, and I've tried 3, yes 3 video cards in my system and none of them have any impact whatsoever on my FPS. At least for me it is DIRECTLY related to the server I'm on. It just, at least to me, makes absolutely no sense why a server issue would cause problems ONLY on specific clients. My buddy running a considerably older 9800GT is having no issues. I'm half considering digging my old 8800GT out of closet and trying that. But given the other cards having no impact I haven't tried that yet. I also do play other games and it would be a hassle to switch cards every time I want to play DayZ. Is anyone still experiencing FPS issues?
  15. Interesting, I wonder what could possibly affect that? I have noticed a couple times that if I'm having decent FPS (~20-30) and die, when I reconnect my FPS will be unplayable (~5). Anyone have any clue what could cause this?

    Stockpiling Versions?

I'm implying you would have to keep them when you download them. I don't know where to get older versions.
  17. infekt3d

    Stockpiling Versions?

I just keep a separate folder with each version in it. If I want to roll back, I copy and paste into the directory. Don't overwrite / delete the files if you think you might have issues.

Updates but says im in 1.6

I'm getting this as well, same place I've always downloaded from. It's asking for a username and pass. WTF.

    Chernarus on Google maps

If you zoom out a bit the whole area that makes up the chunk of land NW of the river looks like the map, Cherno off to the west of Elektro, and a few other cities.
  20. I'm eagerly awaiting a summer sale of this as well. I have 2 friends that said they'd buy it as soon as it goes on sale, and that would probably mean 5-6 more very soon after that. They're all winding down from Diablo (finally) but don't wanna spend $30 on a game right now.
  21. DISCLAIMER: I do not do any of the things I mention below, but I have seen them take place. They are cheap and I only bring them up because for the 413th time, they need to be. I for one cannot wait until this is implemented, I'm happy with 5 seconds, it'll keep those split second decisions people make to ALT-F4 to a minimum. However I would prefer that this time get increased in the future. 30 second I think would be good, 2 minutes is too long to punish players for having a shitty connection, but 30 seconds isn't so bad. 5 Seconds is going to effectively eliminate players from DCing during MOST firefights and will probably keep MOST people from trailing zombies off into the woods. A couple of things to think about here that 30 seconds would fix that 5 won't. 1) Long range firefights. All I have to do is make myself invisible for 5 seconds and I'm saved. Hide in a bush, behind a building, in some tall grass, whatever. The reason for this is the other party doesn't instantly get some notification; "Hey this asshole is trying to DC on you, kill him now while he can't defend himself!" They are still trying to stay under cover to avoid fire, perhaps flank the DCer, he may lose sight and then waste 3 minutes chasing someone that isn't even in the game any more. 2) Server hopping - I'm not saying 30s will stop server hopping, but it would mitigate it greatly. No longer would you want to log out at the barracks and swap servers to loot. If you were going to server hop at the LEAST you'd be smart to move into a bush and hide. This will increase your on-server time and therefor reduce the overall quantity of people rapidly changing servers 3) Speed runs - (Scenario) Lets say I run into Zelenogorsk, just full sprint right into the store with 5-10 zombies in tow, because the zombies are slow, I could gather what I needed and sprint out the back door, now I can just run off into the woods, wait for the zombies to all get near me, and ALT-F4. Quickly log back in and zombies are gone. 5 seconds isn't long enough to die from even 10 zombies smacking you. Unless each hit resets that counter (which would be very nice, if it doesn't already) than this will stay a viable method for cheap people to continue being cheap. I'll caveat #3 by saying it would be nice if the zombies didn't INSTANTLY disappear the millisecond that someone DC's in the area.
