  1. Hello, Is it possible for me to change the default time it takes for a dead body to despawn? Also is it possible to change the amount of time your character stays in the world before you logout (more than 15 seconds)?

    Despawn time of dead players

I would also be interested in knowing if you could modify this for a community server. I am also looking to see if you can modify the logout timer to make a character stay longer than the 15 seconds until it despawns when you quit.
  3. Is there a launch option parameter or something I can edit to always have DayZ launch in x64? By default DayZ always launches 32 bit for me, many times not asking whether to switch to x64.

    With BETA comes modding

I have been wondering if modding and server hosting willl be available with Experimental 0.63? Or will it come with Stable 0.63? Or will it come soon after initial 0.63 release? As far as I know the Dev's have not said.
  5. Unfortunately no matter how you cut it. Hopping servers is just a bad and unsolvable issue when it comes to PvP fighting. This is why non-hived private servers are going to be servers that will have more realism and less exploited tactics such as server hopping for player advantage reasons.
  6. As someone mentioned in that reddit thread. There is already a huge advantage of people shooting from trees at far distance. Having the eye zoom helps with spotting, without it it would be much harder.

Set Launch to always start x64 bit DayZ?

I guess I forgot about the old school method of just using a shortcut. Thats what I will do. So used to just launching everything from the Steam menu.
  8. I have to say the already reduced zoom I found to be pretty annoying, especially when using ironsights. I was hoping it would return to the full Arma style zoom that was seen in the mod. A complete removal is unacceptable.

Official server "Dayz UK 5-50" closed ?

I am unsure what happened in this instance, however in the past official servers do close sometimes or reset. This should be unacceptable but does happen. Often times the reason is someone buys a server so they simply take an official one down and host it as private.

Set Launch to always start x64 bit DayZ?

Obviously I know this. However I usually start it through the taskbar feature which runs it be x32 by default. I am wondering how to basically always force it to only run x64
  11. That's basically right. I would recommend reading the dev blog explaining why its in the game. See below. I think the Dev's should reread what Jan has to say to figure out why eye zoom should stay in place and why it is realistic. At least as a compensation for monitor size and field of view.
  12. With the patch implementing the new server browser that only shows player count as "Low", "Medium", or "High", the Dev team made an effort to make the game more unpredictable and sort of eliminate people who would loot on servers by themselves and then jump on a full server to PVP. Not only that but they also eliminated the in-game player count screen. So there is no in-game way to tell how many people on the server there are exactly, and this is how it should be for an immersive survival game like this one. There are of course 2 problems, one of which I think can be solved easily as perhaps a server Admin option. Trackers such as DayZSpy or GameTracker use what most multiplayer online games use, they receive information freely from the IP of the server, which broadcasts information such as the player count and their in-game names. Thats why DayZSpy shows your DayZ name and not your steam name. For most games, a player population server count is useful and does not effect the gameplay. But for a game like this it should be disabled, or at least made an option to be disabled so that players would properly be unable to know if they are truly alone. The other problem is of course more difficult, because the decision was made to integrate with the Steam server system. This means that even if you were to disable the above third-party websites from obtaining information, you are still able to see who is on the server by viewing the players in your current session through steam, where the players are identified by their Steam name. Because of steam policies and whatever the agreement might say between Bohemia Interactive and Valve, this may be difficult to disable at this point. These 2 issues severely compromise the developers intention to disable showing any sort of player counts in game. The developers should look into disabling the above options. As it simply just means experienced players who wish to gain an advantage by looting on empty servers will continue to do so with ease, while new players are even more clueless. It also means that once a player finds out about these services, some of the immersion is broken as it is known that many people use these services to track players and server populations, which is an unintentional and bad 'meta-game' within DayZ.
  13. Various permadeath server ideas have been talked about. I can't wait to see any implementation of them once Beta and server hosting comes out.

Q&A with Map Designer Adam Franců

Of course thats possible, but no way we are getting that. Maybe for DayZ 2

Q&A with Map Designer Adam Franců

Adam Franců is the creator of Namalsk and he recently confirmed an updated Namalsk map will be in DayZ SA, most likely as a mod.

Q&A with Map Designer Adam Franců

I know there is a Woods overhaul coming, I've seen the screenshots and its an improvement, but the shrubbery doesn't seem thick enough to really meaningfully hide in. I was wondering if we ever get some more variety in woods area to hide things? As it is now, we all know how we hide barrels or tents and such: we look for those pine trees which provide the best cover. Wouldn't it be nice if there was perhaps more thick bushes or shrubbery low to the ground instead of only this tree as a hiding option? Already you get a lot higher FPS in woods than in cities, so there is room to place some more shrubbery there as far as performance goes.

    Status Report - 29 Mar 2016

The silhouette idea is very good for the game for new players and old players alike since there are so many changes every patch. But this should just be under a separate menu, a crafting menu or whatever you want to call it. How is this going to work in your inventory screen? Inventory should just be showing what you have, otherwise it will get confusing or just plain annoying with silhouettes appearing on your screen while hovering over items or something.

How can we fix camping ?

Well I was talking about civilian style loot. Since there are different classes of loot, Military loot is a bit different because there is only a select few places where it can spawn on the map so the military loot still must spawn at these locations. This effect is more pronounced with civilian style loot that can spawn anywhere on the map. Overall its a subtle effect in its current state. It was more evident during an experimental a few months ago when they first started testing this but they since have changed it.
  19. I very much agree with these points especially. There should be more randomization in DayZ in all aspects. After all mother nature is very random and hard to predict in a survival situation. More over spawn points of vehicles should also be in the thousands and be able to appear nearly anywhere in the map. Of course they would still be rare but it would make it so much better because you can't farm them and when you find a vehicle it will be such a delightful surprise. As it is now you pretty much know what areas vehicles can spawn in so you know you won't be surprised with seeing a vehicle. Unless its the rare occasion that someone broke down and left a vehicle in the middle of a town somewhere. I mean it can't be that hard to add a bunch of additional spawn points all around the map for vehicles. Why even have these vehicles in certain sections of the map. Same can be said for items, I understand items are categorized and very rigid right now and that should be the case for things like guns but there should be items, items that are even super rare and might be useful that can be found anywhere on the map. This gives incentive to search every building. As it is now there is pretty much no point to search your average civilian buildings after a few hours of play but this can be fixed easily. This game should be all around randomness in these aspects because thats what creates the best replayability and the best challenge in a survival game.
  20. I also have concerns. I know obviously its a work in progress so you can stop repeating that. However the basic functionality of the inventory is just worse than the original UI. The object in hands location should just stay in the same spot as it is now, its a logical place for that screen to be I think right in the center. I think the basic locations and icons should remain in the same spots. The aesthetic of it and obviously the frames increase is going to be a huge plus. I just hope they don't keep the current NewUI layout is all. Especially the 'item in hands' box being right next to all your inventory. There is just too much information in a small column on the right side of the screen. Anyway I imagine they realize this.

    Best servers for persistent "camp"

I know it is, but go look on the server list you can find a handful trying to do this. Its not like there is a clear icon or something showing its an official server. People make there servers called DayZ NY 5-283 and it looks official. They are up even as we speak.
  22. Komalt

can an 'official' server go private?

Wow what a detailed post by Observer there. Thats the most well thought out and clear laying out of what the problem is with official servers I've seen. One thing I would add is I think server providers should designate a certain amount of servers with a clear designation in there title that they will never go down or switch hands to a private server. There should be at least a small percentage of their servers that are like this, for the benefit of the users. Past few days there have been a handful of topics of users complaining there camp is gone due to these problems. Thats hundreds of hours that people are playing to make these sort of basecamps and it all just disappears, not even because of another player finding it.

How can we fix camping ?

This is so wrong because I myself had a huge camp in fact with many tires and barrels and tires still spawned, everything spawned normally I don't know how you get this impression. One thing that may be throwing you off is the way loot respawns across the map. This was explained in a Dev Blog and even some maps were shown not too long ago of evidence of this in a recent experimental patch. So lets say you are only looting near Stary Sobor, then there will be less loot in Stary Sobor and more loot in places across the map. That is to say less loot will SPAWN in Stary Sobor over time, there will be less and less loot in this area if you continually loot it. I think this could be a reason for your discrepancy.

    Best servers for persistent "camp"

Well the supposed 'official' servers are the ones that are numbered with plain names and region names such as DAL 1-024 or NY 3-293 just as examples these servers are also only on the public hive. Servers that are not 'official' with custom names that say things like 'HIGH LOOT' or 'Dave's server' are servers bought out by someone and probably have active admins. However be careful because some servers try to disguise there name in this way to look official, but its not many and usually they have mistakes in their titles.

How can we fix camping ?

The items that lay on the ground... in regular loot spawns, like in a house or on heli crash sites. That's all thats taken into account, you misunderstood his words. Also this patch it is questionable if M4 or AK101 is in the game, perhaps purposely done to try and catch hackers who might try and spawn them in. But come on your conclusion can't be that on every single server there is someone with a large camp holding alll the M4's and AK101, I play on several servers and played lots of hours and eve nhave camps across many servers some that are low pop., I can assure you this is not the case and things in tents currently do not effect anything about loot. Or if not that then the rarity of these weapons have gone up a lot. The developers can change loot rarity on the fly now, even in between patches so it is up to them. Ihave found FN FALs and AUG but no Stanag magazines or FAL magazines, these items are probably in the game but its just rare this patch. How can you possibly know this without finding said camp that has hoarded heli loot? If you found a camp with several M4's and AK101's maybe you can prove something. You can't just assume things like this. I've extensively been to heli crash sites. A lot of the times theres nothing special. They purposely made things really rare thats it. And I already posted what Eugene Harton said in plain English: " Items in tents/backpacks/player inventories are not part of the calculation!"
