DayZ Is Officially Ruined(Player Wise)
Parasprite replied to daniels's topic in New Player Discussion
No cities up north? I wouldn't say that just yet... -
If ballistics are anything like Arma 2's ballistics, and that was indeed 800m+, the bullet may have lost a lot of its power (IIRC Arma 2's 7.62x51 rifles lose almost half of their raw damage at around the 800m mark, and if it's a similar deal with the Mosin then I'm guessing it will be considerably less powerful than a close range FNX. This is on the assumption that a helmet can bounce a .45 bullet, which I've seen mixed evidence for; it's probably also range related for .45 rounds). On the other hand bullets can't penetrate characters in Arma 2 (unless Dean & co seriously changed things), so I would put it down to desync.

Third person view removal from SA discussion
Parasprite replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
If we must have 3rd person because of babbies, seperate hives is fine with me I guess. -
No thanks. I avoided nameplate servers like the plague for a reason (and the few times I did play them ranked pretty highly on my list of absurd/stupid DayZ experiences).

Weapon damage is great, huge improvement over the peashooter guns of the mod. If you want a small degree of protection, get a ballistic vest when it's implemented.

Looks like a soviet officer to me.

I think he means the Guy Fawkes mask.

Dayz - The engine of disconnected unresponsive controls
Parasprite replied to Zacharybinx34's topic in General Discussion
The weighty movement is one of the main things I like about Arma 2. I can't stand the snappy movement of most mainstream shooters. -
Things are pretty much the same. Same bugs, same exploits. No harm in giving it a go, but I would wait for standalone to get some polishing and content then buy that rather than invest a significant amount of time into the mod.

Dean Hall's revenge.

So is this the beginning of the end for the Dayz mod?
Parasprite replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haven't bought standalone yet (waiting for it to get some more content and the most game breaking bugs worked out), but I don't see myself playing DayZ mod again. Non-vanilla versions have been nice as content additions (the feature additions have always been tacked on and half working, with few exceptions), but they're not the standalone killers some people trumpet them as. DayZ mod reached its limits a long time ago, and the standalone is just getting started. As far as Arma 3 DayZ goes... blech. I've wanted to love Arma 3 like Arma 2, bought it back in Alpha, but I can't. The gun mechanics and animations don't feel right, the only thing I really enjoy in Arma 3 is the vehicles because of the huge amount of care and detail they have. -
Strictly use an actual name + other identity details for Standalone (Regarding Usernames)
Parasprite replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Eugh, no "real names", please. Personal issues aside, the only thing that could work for this would be a whitelist - which would either be absolutely enormous to cover various nationalities or too damn small. On the other hand, I would just drop any form of identification immediately and start calling myself whatever I wanted. -
Daily Events on PvE server.

It's the zombies, man! They're the real bandits! -
Will Sniper Rifles be nerfed in the standalone?
Parasprite replied to VibroKnife's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No artifical balancing, please. This is Arma, not Battlefield. If something is too powerful, then either a mechanic should be introduced (one which makes sense from a realism standpoint) or the weapon should have its rarity increased. Or removed entirely (which would make zero sense in this case, regardless of balance). -
sneaking past a bandit is like shaving

I suggest a human sacrificial offering. -
What Event Turned You Into A Bandit?

I found an Enfield with 3 clips in a barn. -
Want to know why banditry is rampant?

Just practicing for cows. -
Government agents.

It's a combination of easymode servers + your average player being experienced with the game and cynical. Even people new to the game are hostile, having known what they were going into. DayZ will never go back to having the same feel as before.

What's your reason to KOS?

Where have you found your NVG's?
Parasprite replied to hemp0325's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In a tent 100 meters from where I spawned in Kamenka. -
It's a server setting.
-
Cherno gives you the highest chance of finding one, but it's not somewhere I would go if I were fully geared. Berezino has a large amount of residental spawns and is relatively safe, provided you have a buddy on overwatch to save you from the hatchet.

If you're afraid of people thinking you're a bandit, just keep your civilian clothing and wear it in urban areas and other locations where a ghillie suit wouldn't help much anyway.

I would like to see this happen, with a stat seperate from hunger which determines how fast you regain blood (a well fed character who doesn't go long stretches without eating would regain blood faster than someone who waits until the hunger meter is blinking).
