It's still not a public hive. Public hives only run DayZ Chern - not private hive maps. It's more likely it is part of the Namalsk hive which has the servers connected, but the servers are still considered private hive.

You still don't have to kill everyone you see. It's your choice. Personally, I always KOS because I love PVP, but if you can find friendlies or join a group, you won't have to kill all other players before they kill you.

If I am in a city, firing a weapon like an M9 SD at a zombie. Anyone within a range of 70m is instantly going to get flagged for combat and know that someone is within the city firing a gun, as opposed to normally you would not know if someone is firing an SD weapon.

http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ for Standalone news generally. Still slated for end of '12 from what I've heard, but it will probably be pretty much the same mod + 2.0 Chenarus with maybe some minor fixes. I wouldn't expect much more beyond that for initial release.

Thus far, I like the new update. I haven't specifically noticed any situation where I knew for certain we (my squad) prevented someone from aborting, but I'm sure the combat system has been working in our favor to prevent those pesky aborters. However, I agree with some people that while the system is a good start, it still has work to be done. For example, I would think that an SD weapon would not trigger combat unless it landed by you, as right now it essentially nulls the entire point of having SD weapons for PVP. Furthermore, it would be a lot better if actions didn't trigger the combat timer. I can't think of any realistic scenarios in which I would want to abort after throwing a can unless I was being shot, which is already covered in the combat system so to me it seems unnecessary to have a trigger on actions to prevent combat logging.

NGG1 has been a reliable server. Hackers are dealt with, active admin team, website/teamspeak to contact them. One of the best servers I've played on.

How will DayZ Standalone handle its servers? Will it be uncontrolled server hosting where anyone can start up their own server company and offer DayZ servers? (DayZ right now) Or will it be controlled server hosting using only companies like Branzone/Multiplay/i3d/etc.? (similar to Battlefield 3) Or will it be where Bohemia Interactive hosts the game servers and we all connect to them (similar to WoW) I've looked online and I haven't found any confirmed answer on this yet.

Nice, but I'm waiting for more of the servers to start running 1.3 before I update. Most of the private hives are still running 1.2.6

This is why I'm praying DayZ standalone isn't stupid and they do servers the right way. Having people being able to rent servers and ban people = bad. Having BI host the servers and manage them = good.

PLAYSTYLE I enjoy bum-rushing snipers on Dobly with a Lee Enflied. It's easy to find and I don't care if I die. Grab the fool's gear - shoot some players with a sniper rifle. Also I enjoy using M4A1 in mid-range urban combat. Generally, find players, kill players, and laugh. A lot. I wouldn't be able to define myself to any one specific playstyle. I enjoy doing it all.
