    Survivors(players) vs Bloodsuckers(players)

I already think that while bloodsucker is a fresh wind on Namalks (off all places), it's not really relevant to DayZ.

    Dayz Standalone Random Events suggestion

BRDMs are resistant but not immune. Tires can be blown. Otherwise, the BTR-40 (militia version, no weapons) which is very alike but without a roof (so shots coming from above can kill occupants. Both have windows in the front that are open when the engine is on. As for helicopters, NPC can fly them (heck, NPCs can be told to do anything, go have fun in the vanilla/AO editor). Along, I'd love to see the unarmed HMMWV or the HMMWV Ambulance (lets you heal to 10k?) or the MG Military Offroad make an appearance. The Vodnik (medical or disarmed PK version) could also fill in the niche of the absent amphibious. A lot of vehicles could be brought by making sure the weapons are removed or without ammo (it can be done easily, both).

Real...I mean, REAL heli crash sites for SA

Bringing this from a thread over;how about NPC controlled helicopters doing tours of the map for a limited period of time before flying off? In addition to a few actual, old fashioned, crash-sites, player-input (shooting the bastards out of the sky) would be needed to create more crash sites. Could be a good excuse to bring the odd launcher back into DayZ. The Strela/Igla could do a fine work. Heck, AIs can sometime land disabled helos, so all the better for quick-witted players. I've never liked the concept of spawning heli crash-sites. They are just there from the get-go or they pop in, like that, as time goes on. There's nothing much that would make a helo crash bar getting shot down.

    Making Bases? Ideas and Tools

Electrically working items are possible. Mods have been made in this direction. One of them, my favourite by far if maybe a bit buggy, simulates power-grids wholly. It works as well as a map is made, of course. Chernarus works well it it because pretty much everything is hooked. But the point is that it can be done. As for building materials and building in general, I like the easy pickup-tow-store-place system from Wasteland (they didn't invent it, hold your horses, I know). A bit of reworking and it would work VERY well, I think, with DayZ.

    Dayz Standalone Random Events suggestion

I like the idea of hostile NPCs. I've played a few modified scenarios working with veteran AI but the NPCs were affected by heavy sway (or something). They had trouble hitting stuff but they would flank and ambush pretty effectively. I played on a DayZ server a while ago where a NPC base with some loot spawned somewhere in the north. Heavily fortified with random patrols around. It's too much opposition; Wasteland's level of NPC presence (between 3 and 10) is pretty good and makes more sense. Say, throughout the map, a dozen or so camps are placed at random at server start. In forests, hills and even in a city. The camp would consist of a few NPCs with some mid-high tier weapons (with the odd high-end equipment) based on a single bunker building and maybe a tent or two. Maybe a broken down, rare, vehicle nearby. How about a weaponless BRDM2 or a MTVR? Said NPCs would be neutral/hostile to players. They would hold fire unless you approached them too much or shot toward them. Along with this, to help nearby players to find them, they would ALSO engage zombies. With limited ammo, they could easily be overrun if placed near a town. Otherwise, the odd forest zombie (as it has been suggested in parts many times before (random wild zombies)) would stumble upon them. So, as the server age grew, more and most NPC camps would get wiped out. As for events, I can see a way to work around the general notification. Unlike the current crash-site system, FLYING helicopters manned by NPCs (who have the special gear) would fly around in the sky, airborne from an unknown location. To get the stuff, you would need to shoot them down. Hey, here's a good reason to bring the Strela or the Igla into DayZ. Heck, the C130j could also do flybys and either crash on its own (the explosion is loud, can be heard from 4 or 5 kilometres out) or be shot down (you need a lot of firepower for that). Randomised events can also happen, as long as the notification is limited to a specific range or if the events are dynamic. Say a NPC controlled convoy start at some extremity of the map, drive to a location or scout around (and engage zombies) for a limited time and then goes back somewhere to despawn. Throwing ideas, this is what I have so far.

    SA Rag Doll Physics?

I'll reiterate, Arma 2 already have ragdoll. Why it's not used? No idea but it's there a'ight.

    SA Rag Doll Physics?

Arma 2 already support ragdoll physics, so I'd say yes.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

It indeed is, but we're deviating. In any case, we can't fix human nature. There's no way to fix everything. If not hackers, some admins will come to ruin the day. As for the SA, I'm waiting on it anxiously. In the meantime, there's Taviana and Namalsk just went into high gear recently so I have to play that again.

    More Servers in Asia

The 10FPS is raising a red flag here. That's no usually affected (and if to any extent, not by much anymore) by the server or your PING. What kind of hardware are you using? Desyncs are more of an issue than PING, also. Which is itself more dependant on the quality of the connection than the 'width or speed.

    Bad player story

Well, I got my first ban from a server the other day for "cheating/hacking". Killing an admin four times in a row (as he teleport back to us with full gear to try to take us out) is apparently cheating/hacking. Was sorta mad. Had four tents in two locations and a few vehicles (along with dozens of different guns) Then, got banned from the next server not two hours later. Turns out the admin was mad I stole his apache. Yes, I wrote it right and you've read it likeso.
  11. The FAA does? Well, it's a shame. In any case, I follow the more complete and more often update EASA. And Autorotation is a term valid for one thing and one thing only. Too bad you got all high and mighty about this. This is not a pissing contest, don't know you want it to be.

A quick tip for any weapon suggestions and Theater mode

You dense moth- You know what? Not worth it. So, Fraps?

The bike and the boat (fuel-less transportation)

Great ideas. I was a bit annoyed when I found a few rowboats but figured out they were static. What beach? Also, coconuts are rather low in nutrients. Can be good to satisfy thirst. But, the milk in a mild laxative.

    Ambient reminders of social collapse.

Well, if radios are brought in, an emergency frequency (the last/first) could keep on looping an emergency broadcast. Otherwise, some location specifics looping instructions could be nice. In Taviana, on one side of the bridge (at leats on the .eu version), there's a siren blaring continuously. I'm guessing it's a simple soundfile (and I know localized soundfiles tied to objects are already present, placeable and customizable) so it could easily be done.

    Vehicle Cover

Ah, I thought you meant using vehicle as cover during a firefight... Well, if they had not the absolute propensity to blow up after a few makarov rounds, it would be nice. About your topic, I'd welcome some sort of overhead netting. Terrain in Arma 2/DayZ is really lacking though. Deep valleys, cliffsides, plateaus, ravines and windings are never implemented anywhere. Panthera and Taviana have some too-steep hills but still, everything follow a smooth terrain line. Too bubbly, not blocky enough. it makes hiding material harder.
  16. To add a bit about autorotation (because it is SERIOUSLY something many should practice) It saved my life in DayZ maybe three times. I don't like bailing so I often crashed with the damn thing. Now, I'll bail if I must but I saved the whole damn thing a few times.

    Wishlist of new weapons.

Bring in more low tech weapons. Hunting weapons; bolt action, little to no semi-auto. Shotguns everywhere, birdshot and buckshot should be the standard shell type found, slug should be a rarity. More pistols. I want a hand cannon! A Mateba Autorevolver even more. Better throwing system could bring in the ability to pick up more stuff to use as a blunt weapon and throw them. I've been hit by a brick once, it almost killed me. Eschew NATO weapons and any military grade weapons of any sort over a dirt-cheap half broken AK-47/AK-74. AK-101 and above should be rare-drop crash site loot. The AN-94 is used by the FSB (main successor to KGB) so it could make sense to find some in some government sponsored hidden labs if any are ever showcased. Ideally, I'd make melee weapons the average weapon. Makeshi(f)t most usually. Taking firearms to the backseat.

    DayZ without Zombies

    Dinosaurs, birds (Hitchcock anyone?) and robots are the only acceptable substitutes for zombies. Heck, why not bring in the revised versions of dinosaurs? Did you guys know that a lot (if not most) had feather(y) protrusions throughout (or early) in their life cycle? Some of the recent remodelling make them even scarier (they are still debated, it's in no way the final model). It works as long as a dev doesnt get into his head that having dinosaurs in modern day post-apocalyptic anywhere deserve a backstory. 'Why is the land filled with dinosaurs' will the oblivious and priority-lacking children ask. Well, if they insist, there's only one good answer;
  19. Few great points. Mainly, making flight more difficult. Which is always a plus. More people crashing = More helo respawning Higher skill requirement = Designated pilot Still, lets not make it too difficult. If I recall, there are skill levels in TOH that dictate how complicated flying is. Either keep it at a mid level or have it dependant on the server setting (difficulty). Heck, this is the same discourse some people are having concerning snipers/marksman rifles/optics. Make them less reliable/more realistic/accurate. By the easy mean of modelling windage into the ballistic. Calculating drop or just zeroing is too easy. Also, it's more fun for everyone when an ambush fails because the first shot(s) fell off because of wind. P.S. You used the word autorotation... It does no mean what you think it means. Autorotation is one of the few things that are modelled (to some extent) in Arma 2 and then DayZ. Look it up.
  20. Was all interested, then I saw the '24/7 Daylight' part. Nighttime is fun. Dusk and Dawn even moreso.

    Gotta loves me some aircraft...

The Osprey too, same map and same place too. 6 hours later, a dozen pickups and drops later, crash into a hill. Doesn't die. We all survived the impact but one eventually bleed out. Me and the remainder are low on blood. A makarov wielding, helicopter destroying, bambi motherf- could have killed us. Problem is, we had crashed near a bandit camp. (Southern castle, near Smuggler's). They had seen us crash. They were coming. My friend pin them down for a bit and I circle a bit around. Get behind a rock in the desert with my trusty Remington and a bagload of slugs. 4 kills later, we make our way to the lands of Grey and Pink.
  22. Key words; "long term plans". So, expect community maps Soon™ after the SA's release.

    Input and Standalone

There's a maximum speed at which a mouse can track. Past that, the only way to have more effective DPI (the feeling of) is to have accelerating software. Otherwise, buy a better mouse. Also, some software can let you program quick manoeuvres for instant 180 degree transition. P.S. Get an all-surface laser mouse and get rid of the mousepad. I have half my desk dedicated to my mouse.
  24. Although I am afflicted with a great case of real life cranked up gamma and brightness (always fun to have a damaged iris), I wish I had some. Oh boy, the things I would have done with a pair 15 years ago...
