As old as the internet, almost. Well, it's pretty old. Still funny. In ten thousand years, archaeologist will find a data center with 99.999% of the files corrupted. All they will be able to salvage is this.

Someone is having a hard time transitioning from Minecraft to DayZ it would seem.

Idea for DayZ: New resource 'infection grade'
Bearded McGee replied to Mithos's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Could also be tiered by zones and town/cities. Small towns like Gvozdno could be kept relatively clean of zombies by a group while towns like CHerno/Elektro would be nigh impossible to help the zombie spawn rates go down. -
Idea for DayZ: New resource 'infection grade'
Bearded McGee replied to Mithos's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I can't say I'm behind this. Though, the title made me think about something else. How about a server wide zombie danger level. The more zombies players kill on average per day, the less that spawns. Inversely, if players ignore zombies too much, the spawn rate goes up, a LOT. Making the killing of zombies something more than there-and-then only. The problem would be finding the right balance. -
Derp Dayz (Private, 1.7.2.6 - 96548, Whitelist)
Bearded McGee replied to guidez's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The only advantage might be the lack of scrippters and fresh vehicle spawns. Which might actually make me wonder if it wouldnt be a good deal... 5 doosh is almost enough to make me consider it. I want a fresh start on a map not emptied of vehicles and filled with cheaters. OP, provide more info, will you? -
Thing is, it's overpowered. I'm totally okay with high powered rifles but the whole ranging+zeroing (which often take a few seconds and can be done by a single player) isnt difficult enough. Someone else said it MUCH better than I am right now. Wind, at the very least, should be a factor. Would make sniping harder. Even then, depending on the rifle, accuracy shouldn't be spot on at greater ranges. In Cherno or Elektro, looting anything near a window is a gamble. DayZ should play somewhat like a zombie apocalypse. With group raiding, backstabbing and people being dicks. Now, people kill just to kill. DayZ is fun when few people treat it as Deathmatch.

I found a few clan spots with tents. Also, a good thing to do is to go fully to the left of the map (west) and the go up (north) following the edge of the map. In most servers, if not all, you'll find a great deal of tents there.

How about this Rifles, shotguns, pistols and melee weapons. Have the best weapon magnification in-game not go over 4x. It feels like I'm playing a less fun version of Sniper Elite (as if I'd ever think that was possible.

Yeah, woods are too empty. Deer would be nice. Elks are only present in the far eastern side of Russian while deer are EVERYWHERE. How about aggressive animals like bears and wolves? Rabbits are fine as they are. Boars just mostly ignore players. Make them a bit faster more skittish (better vision and hearing, running away from players along with vehicle and weapon sounds) Goats can be skittish if left alone long enough. Sheep might be spooked but most domesticated variants are, well, sheep. The current 6400 blood per cow is a joke.

Armor values, hats and helmets (standalone, probably)

Hats... 'Tis be a slippery slope, mah frien' -
Okay, but add a funnel toolbelt iem. Make the rain bottle-refilling take 30 seconds?

The Hive already record players using scrippted in weapons. I'm not saying an insta-ban on picking up anything, you dolt. Have you ever seen someone get a CS50, NVG, Ghillie, M9SD, all of their toolbelt items and a Coyote backpack within a day?

Hunting knife taking the place of a pistol/flashlight Baseball bat taking the place of a main weapon; used to knocking out and giving blurry vision. Will not kill zombies but drop them on the ground.

1. Elektro 2. Someone shoot a lee-enfield/AKM round 3. Play Smoke Grenade hot potato 4. Hatchet only, final destination

how do I download dayZ from this website
Bearded McGee replied to A.Williams's topic in New Player Discussion
To be more in line, get Six Updater or DayZ Commander instead. Both will download DayZ, intall the latest patch and let you run it easily. Doing a manual install can be hard (and maddening), I recommend DayZ Commander. -
Someone wrote on my map :S
Bearded McGee replied to DannyFilming's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I find a random camp and I don't take everything (which is often, considering how much shit people leave in their tents), I mark them on the map. -
I like the idea about the bayonet. Would be a "firing mode" and work exactly like the hatchet so it's easy to implement. As for putting/removing parts of a gun, I'd be okay with this, in the standalone. I'd remove the I'd remove the scope from the M4A1 CCO SD M203 I have if I could. Of course, it would take a toolbox or a gunsmith kit to remove/add parts and have them calibrated. Er, toolbox to add/remove and kit to make sure the sight/scope is centered. Would also like to have laser-pointer attachments.

Ideas: Bloodtypes and changes to wildlife, Epi-pen and Matches
Bearded McGee replied to Teos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All in except not knowing your blood type. I know mine and everybody should know theirs. Okay with random blood type but no for not knowing which. Otherwise, totally okay with this. -
I like being able to keep my vehicle, but I hate even more servers where all the vehicles are hoarded and hidden. Heck, I'd implement a weekly vehicle respawn if it were up to me. Vehicles are for transportation, not camping (in both senses). Of course, not all vehicles would respawn. I'd make the bicycles, ATVs and civilian vehicles go back to one of their spawn point each week. Giving fresh players the opportunity to not walk 15km without ever seeing another vehicle.
-
Having maps on different levels would be nice. In order: Road map Touristic map; including some interesting places marked on the map. Topographical map; no points of interest marked but it's pretty much the current DayZ map. Hunting map; a topo map with some points of interest marked, such as hunting cabins and deer stands marked. Military map; Topo map with almost everything marked, <0.5% loot spawn in control towers.

I'd be up for a mass wipe every 2-3 weeks. Along with a vehicle respawn wipe every week for some vehicles (not including buses, Hueys and the two big trucks) so that players can still find bicycles and ATVs and cars and stuff. As of now, you can forget finding anything in most servers. EDIT: Actually, this might be good. Have BattlEye, or something on the Hive record who gets NVG, AS50s and some other crap within less than a day's worth of trouble and ban those.

Arming Bear Traps on Vehicle Seats
Bearded McGee replied to Faceman Peck's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Claymores with a true tripwire system. Meaning, you don't just place them but set and get a wire across to something else. I'd like a way to protect vehicles without making them unusable or too dangerous. Speaking of vehicles, I'm thinking that they should have a reset timer. Unless you play on fresh server or a server which just experienced a huge reset either from hive or host fuck-up, you won't be finding anything. -
[Experiment POLL] % of people with a .50 cal sniper. Lets find out.
Bearded McGee replied to 97ADU Doug's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't have one, but that's because I didn't pick one up the 15 times I came across them. I even came across a tent with a AS50 TWS, which I proceeded to destroy after taking the much more interesting SVD Camo. I have found and kept a M107, but I'm not going to use it. -
Some people are nice people who'd rather not get murders. I got one so far because I had absolutely no choice. If I had had the chance of using a non-lethal approach to incapacitate him, I would have done that.

Simple solution for Graphical Artifacs

I'll be testing this out tomorrow and come to either give someone a beating or some praise.
