Animals, Survival and Staying Alive.
Bearded McGee replied to Taiphoz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like some of the additions. No all, like the chicken. Raising them? I'd be okay finding a bucket of chicken (that's the actual appellation) but not so much in pens. A chicken can survive little more than a few days in confinement without care. For eggs, how about a 20% chance of finding one on a chicken after you gut it? Personally, I'd like a revamp of the current hunting and cooking systems. When was the last time you went hunting for wabbits? -
Which is hilarious for me. "Shower" translate to "Douche" in French.

we only need 2 things in the next update/patch
Bearded McGee replied to Zach_Novak's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
We already know the Hive record and can track individual players who have obtained scripted weapons. That much can be fixed. If you do a Hive wipe beforehand, you can start handing out player-kill states to whoever pick up on of these weapons. If the hive record a player holding sum G36C, for example, it could hand over a kill ticket to the player's client. It's not so hard. hand out a Hive wide announcement and start punishing whoever breaks the new rules. It's an alpha, built over a game very lax in security. It's not a good reason not to start punishing those who would KNOWINGLY try and destroy the game's balance. Even this late. However, this is only a partial fix, only client (and possible server side, with a lot of modifications) can intercept most scripts. The only TRUE way to fix any sort of DayZ build, would be to release a repackaged version of the Arma2 game with better security features (remove player IG script abilities FROM THE BASE) and with the given game assets to be limited to those used by DayZ. The current DayZ can't be fixed. It got this worse because of a lack of intervention however. -
Taser rounds for the 870 and M1014? Rubber slugs? Rock Salt grains? GOD YES! Taser Round (modelled to work with the Benelli M4 only) -Makes less noise than regular shells -The round travels much slower and become inert after a certain distance is travelled -Will jolt zombies and make them unresponsive for a short while, if you ever chose to waste a shot on them. -Survivor hits will drop on the ground, but not unconscious, only with blurry vision. Incapable of standing up for a a few seconds. -Very rare loot found in urban areas, often near police cruisers and police stations. Rubber 12g Slug -Makes as much noise as a regular shot -Target receive some damage, but no bleeding -Small chance of being knocked out (instant 10sec KO if headshot) -Blurred vision, can't sprint for a minute (can still run) -Rare loot in military areas, found around MP barracks and offices Rock Salt 12g shells, used with double barrelled shotgun (bonus points for yelling about leaving yer daughter alone) -Will give blurry vision. -Give shock status and pain status. -Found in rural areas. -dunno what else.

Actually, the third picture (the first one you designate as a bandit skin) would fit better for a hero. Last one would work great for bandits.

You can't make a makeshift backyard heehaw silencer. You can, however, make a suppresor. And this, people, is surprisingly easy to do. With the curent items present in cherno, the easiest type to create would be to make a muffled-can silencer. Basically, you stuff a soda can with fabric and stick it at the end of a handgun. It will reduce the noise, a bit. It's also make it impossible to use the gun's iron-sights. Bandage + sode can = single use crappy suppressor.

Nope, but nice try.

No thanks for RPG mechanics. I want capabilities to be tied to equipment and skill. Not grinding and dicerolls.

Rewards for survival (Open for suggestions!)
Bearded McGee replied to -Atlas-'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
More advanced player skins would probably be the best reward. It's cosmetic and telling of a player's worth at staying alive. With a fixed humanity status, the game would give you better tiers of clothing for your type of survivor. At day 2 (or total, in-game play time), you rank up. Then, day 5. Day 10. So, when a player completes 48 hours alive as a survivor, he gets a new skin. And then at 120 hours, another tier of skin. 240 hours in he gets the best skin. Same thing for "heroes", at 48 hours played being a "hero", he gets a better skin... Again, same with bandits. Accumulated time would not cross. For example, player A spent 24 hours as a survivor and then obtained the basic bandit skin. Then at a total play time of 72 hours, he would switch to bandit skin tier 2. As long as it's purely cosmetic, i'd be okay with this. -
Suggestion how to make the different servers better
Bearded McGee replied to daniel7000's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've mentioned this before, but I'd set a Far-West server if I could. I'd pay to host a server, right now, on a non-buggy build of DayZ with Far-West settings. Revolver, m1911, Double-B Boomsticks/sawn-offs, winchesters (and other lever actions like the Volcanic pistol), lever action shotguns, carbines, Withworth rifles with a crappy 5 time scope, no zeroing and no drop-notches, Lee-Enfields, no GPS (only map and compass, no waypoints, no range-finders, only binoculars, no NVGs and dynamite sticks. -
One character name ~ DayZ standalone
Bearded McGee replied to CerebralZombie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm only partially okay with this. Being able to switch name (many of us look back in shame at our early usernames) while still being able to be tracked would be ideal. For example, having an account name (or ID) and a player name (visible IG). On lobby, you could see both the ID and IG name while only the player's name would be visible in game. In case of dubious behaviour, the ID would be the thing to hand over to the authorities for a case to be built. Along with that, maybe have it so users keep a history of the names they used, visible and accessible by anyone. To limit exploitative players, implementing a limited number of player rename over a set period of time, say once a week. -
Reminds me of the walker pack from the Walking Dead. Have some of the zombies have good loot and now you also have a reason to actually HUNT down zombie roamers. Imagine being north of Olsha, in the woods with a small group of friends. There is NO zombie spawn points anywhere near so you feel sorta safe. than, all of a sudden, BRAAAAAINS Holy crap, you just got blindsided, at night, by a few dozen zombies. In the ensuing fight, you lost two friends to the undead. On the plus side, one of the zombie had a nice M240B with a belt box.and a PDW SD with three mags. Awesome night.

All players with vehicles are hackers?
Bearded McGee replied to CrimsonRisk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's two type of players I hate. People who steal the vehicles I've painstakingly repaired and hidden in a bush out of the way. And People who hide vehicles out of the way and leave them there. Heck, even worse are the people who hold not one, but MANY vehicles. Even the frikkin' bikes are hidden in bushes. Now, if there was a few bikes per townlet, it would be okay. But you can forget about ever finding one. Only once did I find a vehicle in a "legitimate" way. it was the car that had been stolen from me a day prior (all of my stuff was still in it). It was hidden, badly, in a bush near the road west of where I had been killed. Surely enough, I found the camp a north-east from the UAZ. There was a quad, a bus and a bike. Damaged the quad's engine, stole the bike (and dropped it a bit further south in a bush) and placed my three bear-traps around the bus, one directly near the entry-door. Illegitimately, I've asked around for the cords of old bicycles a few times. I prefer ridding a bike. Really, I'd up the bike spawn rate by a few factor and have them respawn every few server restarts so new players actually have a chance of finding one. -
The old snipers are to powerful thread. (with a solution)
Bearded McGee replied to mtls44555's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Currently, sniping is OP for two reasons. First; abundance of one-hit kill snipers (which shouldnt even be in). The AS50 and his cus, the M107 are everywhere. Only once did I ever get shot at by anything but one of those two. Second, how easy it is to use one and how hard (read, impossible) to counter. Cherno and Elektro are simply too dangerous to visit, ever. Whats that, you actually went and scouted the hills and sniper-perches? Think again, some guy just server hopped into his favourite spot. You're dead. This guy puts it down better than anyone else could -
I've been thinking about how suits and clothing should affect the zombie's ability to detect a player. A player in civilian clothing would get a bit of a bonus to stealth while a player in a ghillie would get a big up in how much visible they are if they are in an urban setting. Camo clothing would be the middle ground. A guy clad in black cloth would ba harder for a zombie to spot if he's crawling across a street. A bush crawling across a street would stand out MORE than simply zooming across.

I'm not huge on PVP and I stay away from other players mostly. Tried the AKM only once. Stat-wise, I can see why some people would think it a bit OP for non-kitten-sniping PVP. AKM mags are sorta rare though. OT; In the first place, the first thing you should do when encountering another player and all you have a Makarov is run and/or scream friendly. If you lost in a firefight while using the AKM in its effective range, it was either to a lack of skill or a lack of luck. Neither can be fixed.
-
7 AKM hits... Not even half (2-3). You need 6-8 body shots with the Makarov to kill another player (unless you get a headshot in there) Guns are already powerful enough. With knock-outs, breaking bones and blurry vision, it's hard NOT to kill someone. You want to play something else than PVP? Head north.

Dude, if English isn't your first language, just goddamn say it. Stop putting your foot in your mouth. People are trying VERY HARD not to be absolute jerks, but I can tell you, it's frikkin' hard.

Why not remove the glitchy dead guys until the standalone?
Bearded McGee replied to M8EO's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If he can actually FIX the problem, all the better. But, to remove the faulty models would have taken a few hours of "coding" and little more than a hotfix. Artifacting could have been fixed in a day or two. But, for the sake of keeping scripted dead bodies (which you can't interact with), some players have had to put up with being unable to properly visit some zones in the game. Keep this in mind. -
"Ppl sayz I'm trollu but r nawt!" Oh boy. "I have an awesome idea" This never goes well. "i havent actualy played the alpha dayz but ive seen all the sniper vids on youtube and the game is amazing really intense and only for great players but dont say i dont know what im talking about because i do ok" GOOD LORD

I second this. People make come as being arrogant when they nitpick on your spelling, grammar and syntax but you must not take it as a personal attack. Especially not by replying in an off-topic manner to your own topic to try and "show them who's boss". It's something to make a typo or to misspell a certain word repeatedly, it's another altogether to write lik dat and expect people to try and figure out the quirks and specifics of what amounts to your own personal language. So, to be on topic: ->Zombie spray; No ->Customizable vehicles (pimping); might be cool (note that "being cool" can often be detrimental to your survival, hence, contrary to the direction DayZ and the coming standalone might try to take) ->More store specific loot like hunting gear or military surplus shops; Good idea. Needs balance (you need to learn about loot tables). ->Military convoy "crash sites"; so, the equivalent of an helicopter crash site but low-med level military grade loot? Cool. ->Player customization screen; considering you think it would be more fun to play dress-up OUTSIDE of the game itself, I'd shoot down your idea if it ever came up on the board (and I had a say into what goes and what gets cut away) ->Kevlar and armor vests don't work the way you think. Look into them and come talk again. ->Better melee system; knocking out zombies instead of being lethal (and loud) or simply pushing them pack (without affecting them). Sort of a good idea. It really changes how DayZ/The Standalone would play. No objection but not in favor. ->Zombie hungry, zombie heard sound, sound mean food, food mean zombie no hungry no more... run away from food? I suggest you read into zombie logic. Check you local library and ask where the Undead section is. P.S. Did someone ever tell you how horrid your phrasing itself is?

Remove Thermal Abilities From Weapons
Bearded McGee replied to magicflute's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty much this. In fact, I'd go as far as to say DayZ would be MUCH more fun if there were no other sniper than the CZ 550 and maybe the M14 AIM, and no advanced ARs. DayZ Far West server: Revolver, Winchester, DB Shotgun, Lever action shotguns, Lee Enfield only. -
At night, one shot'd By a AS50 At day, one shot'd By an AS50 Guess which's which?

How do people feel about tents? (not about the bugs)
Bearded McGee replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How's this, limit to ONE tent per user. Reduce the total number of items to 25 and have a disparate 3 slots for weapons. For a maximum of 28 items including weapons. Right now, it's 50. And tents, if they don't decide to screw you on a server restart, can be dupped easily (even more than anything else) -
I just got the CRAP scared right out of me! I was just coming back to my camp from a little raid on the NEAF and Berezino. Finally found some ammo for my m249 and I was able to stuck up on beans and pepsi to last a few days at least. So, I'm walking on a woodland path when I hear a motor engine, so I duck and wait for him to pass. Thing is, he's probably a hacker. He stopped RIGHT in front of me, got off and was aiming in my general direction. See, I'm usually the kind of friendly person who ask first, shoot second (often get shot between the two) but this guy was suspicious. Why would he stop here? He knew I was there and had it in for me. So, I'm prone and I got my m249 trained on him, so when he looked toward me I had no choice so I opened up. The guy just took fifty shot and didnt die! He was rubbing it in too, when the smoke cleared, he was saluting. Not knowing what to do, I just froze. The hacker took off in the woods and tried to troll me by shooting around me, single shots, and missing perfectly. Must have been my silhouette patterened unto the trees behind me . I know he could have killed me at anytime, so I had nothing to lose and frankly, I was tired of walking. So, I put 20L of gas in his ATV and hightailed the f- out of there! TL;DR: A hacker took me by surprise and gave me his ATV for reasons unknown.
