Are tents savable now on 2.6???
Bearded McGee replied to Bonehead3535's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Uncalled and downright presumptuous. -
Find a map, a compass and a townsign. Residential building are everywhere, you should find the basic fast. I found a ghillie, a tent, a knife, matches, an ax, a compass, a map and a watch within my first 40 minutes on my first (and only) Lingor play. otherwise, just find a roadsign and use an online map. I have a whole lot of problem with the brushing sound which always sound like it comes from behind you, on your right. Sounds like footsteps. I've stayed many times atop a building thinking I had heard a player walking outside and beloow me.

It's either a bug, a feature or both because Rocket decide to include half-updates in actual updates. When the Debug monitor is present, the HUD icons wont update, which you should have realized since moving around would show you being invisible and noiseless to zeds. EDIT: Might be that he doesnt use Steam or any program that lets you take screenies. Windowed mode being the only way he can take screenshots

Why would you do that?

>be a wookie bandit sitting on a hill near Cherno >Aiming down, looking for potential player targets >Spot one >Suddenly, screeee Congrats, you just reenacted Jurassic Park's best scene. Seriously, it wouldn't work in Dayz. But, I'd play a jurrasicDay mod. Slow zombie are easy. there's only so much a player can do again a pack of Compsos [Compsognathus] Look at it, tell me you wouldn't enjoy getting ripped to shreads by a few dozen of those.

Returning NPC population to secured towns
Bearded McGee replied to Optimist (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm all in for safe havens of sorts. A few points should be modified out of your idea, however, OP. No better loot out of a safe haven but WORSE loot. You don't want players sitting in the haven. You want loot to be significantly reduced in town, forcing players to venture out. Also, realistically, there's only so much that can be salvaged out of a town before supplies run dry. No NPCs; keep the haven and interactions player driven. Players fills in the role of NPCs by setting up shops, trading and giving taxi rides for a price. Imagine an economy based on ammunition? Basically a Metro 2033 type meta. Never totally free of zombies; You should never be able to get a zone free of Zeds. Reduce the spawn rates a lot or create some sort of haven mechanic. Say you got a small town like Olsha zombie-free, then every so an then, you get a few groups of zeds making for the town by the road and surrounding forest. I covered some of those point more extensively in another thread; http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/87515-dynamic-zombies-spawn-rates/ Incidentally, my idea is not to create an actual haven mechanic but dynamic zombies spawn rates, leaving for the POSSIBILITY of player driven safe-zones. -
town takeovers (i dont know if already suggested)
Bearded McGee replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Restoring a town to being Zed free might not be so bad. Having NPCs spawn in and Getting better loot out of it? No. If anything, WORSE loot should be what you get out of it. Balance and sense being the motivator behind said mechanic. -
town takeovers (i dont know if already suggested)
Bearded McGee replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to be able to set up groups, in-game. as long as the cues are minimal, it could be useful to a point. Say, pointing at a group member would give your a little Interdiction sign over your crosshair as long as you are within a certain distance from them. You know, the ( / ) symbol. The same one you see over an empty water bottle. As for town takeovers, not in the way you describe it. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/87515-dynamic-zombies-spawn-rates/ Here's a better way. -
Not more, better. Current quantities could be kept but we need something that brings the hunting of smaller and more agile animals to be more rewarding. Of course, it would be ideal to change the behaviour of some of the beasts. Goats and lambs could be more skittish, boars definitely need a speed boost and much more easily spooked. Rabbits are fine, on the other hand.

I've seen a private server having player placed camps (inverted half-cylinders) and camo nets. So, it's definitely possible. Someone want to pull out the video from youtube?

NEED SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH!
Bearded McGee replied to cdogmac1212's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Preferred server location? US, UK, EU, AUS? Last time I tried to date someone in DayZ, the big muscular and manly player had forgotten to tell me he played AUS servers and prefered to be on top. Unhappy with this, we never were able to hook up properly. (though it was a fun one-nighter) -

Bearded McGee replied to Bonehead3535's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Someone came across your tent while ridding a bicycle. Good thing for him, he was thinking about building a bird-house too. -
I don't see the point of this. If it's for in-game make believe, wut. I've stuck up someone before with an empty AKM. Worked better than a plastic gun.

I thought about this too. I would definitely change how the game is played.

melee combat (i dont know if already suggested)
Bearded McGee replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I went through the whole post. it boils down to "QTE Everywhere". No. -
melee combat (i dont know if already suggested)
Bearded McGee replied to apache25's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
QTE melee, in anyway, shape or form is a big no-no on my list (and pretty much everybody's) of things that are a big no-no. So, no. You played too much Uncharted. EDIT: WOE IS THE LAND OF THE LIVING, FOR MINE SOUL IS QUAKING IN WHITE FURY! BEHOLD THE FIERY GATES OF HELL, THY COME AND THY ARE NOT WORTH THINE WEIGH IN LEAD. -
Group Spawning and basic starting weapon.
Bearded McGee replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You seem the misunderstand what makes up most of DayZ playerbase. People will kill you for no other reason than no reasons. People will rob you blind, tell you to run away and shoot you in the back. People spawned with a revolver in older versions. Didnt help anybody and gave new players the wrong idea (my first instinct was to shoot zombies, you should know how this went) When you spawn, you know where you are. Decide on a meet-up location beforehand. -
This would turn the current DayZ on its head. A similar mechanic from the get-go one the standalone would push it beyond expectations. The bigger issue, with either a modification of the curretn DayZ or the standalone would be balance. Like I said, if we get a little town zombie-free-ish it would UP the rates everywhere else. And it would make the loot spawn crappy in the zone. The player population would balance out with the zombie extermination and the number of free zones. To a point, getting more zones to drop the spawn rate would be impossible. --- This could lead to groups of players trying to destroy other safe zones to be able to create their own. --- If we make the UP gradient greater to it's equivalent down in the safe zones, a few zones free would make everywhere else HELL to be in. The ratio of bandits right now is offset a great deal by the availability of end-level gear and the pointlessness of actually being a bandit.

The People's Free City of Berezino [Safe-Zone]
Bearded McGee replied to puppetworx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't want zones devoid of zombies. No true safezones. In the current system, they can't work. In the event that a group of player would get the town running and friendly, bandits would soon congregate there. Remember that the current build of DayZ encourages "banditry" for the sake of killing. ... Woa, I ended up writing so much. Gonna split it unto a new thread actually. ... -
The 1.7.2.5 doesn't save hueys. It's even described in the DayZ wiki page about the huey.

WHAT IF: Region's Zombie Spawn was linked to Humanity?
Bearded McGee replied to bbilbo1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Great idea. I'm thinking, though, that only having one modifier of zombie spawn rates could be, er, not enough. Another modifier could be the average zombie population ratio to the average number of zombies killed during the last 24 hours. The more players work toward clearing up a town, the fewer zombies would spawn in the near future. Making so that an organized cleansing of a small town could leave it relatively zed free. As long as there's a minimum modifier, never allowing Zed spawn rates to fall under a certain ratio, this could work. -
Beats the hell out of being killed outright.

No, in ANY way, PVP should always be possible. Think EVE Online, except in starter systems, PVP is enabled EVERYWHERE. I'm okay for having different types of geared servers, but PVP should always be available. I'm thinking maybe servers with equipment restrictions. PVP right now is boring (and rageful) for a few reasons; OP sniping (add wind and remove one-hit-kill-at-any-range snipers) and mil-equipment duping being the core problems.
