First Run to NWAF; Tips?

Recommended Posts

I mainly go this route as a preference because im not ever running in the open until I cross from the north east to north west corner of the airfield even then there is a wall you can put to your left so anyone on the airfiled wont have eyes on. Other than exposure from woods to hangers as you go loot and back out it is very hard to track you because your in quickly and out quickly.

When looting - do NOT sit a room for over a minute and a half. You should be in and out of a room in 1 minute or less.

Why? Server hoppers.

Very true, if you see someone connect, watch your butt cause they might be near... NWAF is popular...

I'd say we should get on and escort him ;) but then he won't have the adrenaline rush he deserves for his first visit

Well I already have all the hunting/meat cooking supplies, and I also have a map. But, I am missing a compass- is this that important? I know the southern half of the map very well, so will this be a major thing if I don't have one?

It'll be more fun if your alone your first time :) it is a rush! Especially on a decent population server. If the map works and shows you position there is no need for a compass... or if you can atleast figure out where your at if it doesn't show you position. Can always watch clouds... they move east to west I believe

Oh, fine ;). Alright, sounds like I'm good to go. Will be forgetting about visiting Zeleno and will just be straight-up running NW until I reach the aforementioned road. From there... We'll see! I'll give you guys updates as I go along.

If you're going in trough the west I would consider getting to Lopatino and follow the road going east, that way you would enter it behind the snipers if there are any. When you get there go to the barracks if you don't find anything good, check the fire house very quickly and GTFO torwards whatever place you're going, if you don't find too much good loot I would go to stary and check the military tents.

Good luck man! Hope an asshole doesn't hack you :)

Alright guys... I've already passed Northern Berezino, heading in a direction just North of Zeleno now. So far, so good. Food and Water meters are currently orangeish.

If you can, I'd advise having a nearby tent and a reliable server you plan to return to. If the airfield isn't picked clean, it can be loaded to the brim with goodies, and you'll need to often make multiple trips. Keep what you want, trade off what you don't want/need off in the trading section.

Do that, you'll have good folks on your contact list, and get whatever else your raid wont getcha. Who knows, might be the first step to getting into a good crew too.

On the water/food situation I usually carry 2 waterbottles and maybe 2 or 3 cans of food, usually don't run out. When raiding the arifield everyone sais take it slow but I personally do it rather quickly but always scanning as i'm running, never run in the open for very long.

My first trip to NWAF was a mess but i can still provide some information.

As you can see on the map the airport got 2 major loot sides.

The eastern barracks with one addional minor military spawn and the western barracks, atc tower, firestation and several hangars.

make sure you get vision of the places you want to loot outside of zombie spawn range first, you can avoid camping players this way or at least be aware that someone is there (i go all paranoid if i see zombs there and leave directly =) i cant handle stress that well).

in my opinion you have to approach each side from the woods and sneak your way in. Never cross the airfield directly (died so many times doing this).

when you enter the barracks i suggest you loot everything in there as fast as possible while lying on the ground all the time. too many windows in this building and you cant even see well enought through these windows to tell if players are coming. acctually the first time in there i got so frightened that i didnt left the building cause i thought someone was aiming at the entrance. BE CALM! in there.

If you plan on visiting the ATC tower - well let me tell you that the entrance is blocked by some structure - it is a bit tricky to enter. i usually go prone and got in with holding L-SHIFT... it some works best for me.

Successefully or not i always left the airport as fast as possible ;)

Ah silenced weapons help alot too. You feel more stealthy with them less paranoid :D

I usually approach going towards one of the two barracks, depending on where I'm coming from. scan the area carefully for zeds (aka signs of other players) before you get too close. and remember that works both ways. players will be looking for you to spawn zeds as well. so if for example you go to the SW barracks, and anyone else is in the airfield, they might see your zeds and know you're in that area. for that reason I try to get in the barracks, and then immediately head back out outside the wall. now comes the issue of how to get to the other barracks. I think it should go without saying that it's a bad idea to cross the runway. around the north side is the safer route

when I find something good, I usually don't take any more chances and get the frick out of there. I would avoid the hangers. they're way too dangerous. the pavement all around them makes a lot of noise, and the zeds can run inside the hangers. the last thing you want at the NWAF is a trail of zeds

like a few people have said, if it looks too dangerous, don't risk it. if it's obvious there's players there, be careful to not get close to any buildings where zeds are gonna spawn and give away your location. if it's really bad, take the opportunity to scan the surrounding fields for crashed heli's and come back later

ok get a map, go down to the left corner of the map and run the tree line past all the villages on the way and stock up till you get to lopatino, then head across to the south west barracks easy, if you don't have a map look up in the sky for moving clouds as they only move east and work that as a compass, easy.

Oh, yes. Wonderful. Make it to Rogovo and I end up teleporting yet fucking again to the coast with absolutely zero loot when the server restarted. This has happened to me twice in two days. Ridiculous, this is starting to get old >.>
