Lags after a while

Recommended Posts

-----------------------------SOLVED---------------------------------

Hello everybody,

I have been trying to play DayZ for three weeks, but I have one big problem - so many lags. First of all, here are my specs:

My notebook's specs are:

  • Intel Core i7-620M (2 cores)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • nVidia NVS 3100M (512 MB) - latest drivers installed
  • game is installed on SSD (Samsung 830)
  • Win 7 (64-bit)

in-game settings:

  • 1024x768
  • Graphics memory: default
  • everything else is set on the lowest or disabled

windows settings:

I have changed config files:

  • shadingQuality=0;
  • shadowQuality=0;
  • mouseSmoothing=1;
  • viewDistance=800.37439

  • GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
  • GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

I have Arma2 Free and Arma2 OA. I have installed latest updates and versions, but I have problems from the beginning - across different updates and versions.

The problem itself is this:When I start playing, everything is ridiculously fast, but after like 5 minutes it starts lagging (FPS drop down to like 3). It starts slowly, but after a while the game itself is unplayable. The fix is to Alt+Tab to windows, wait for 30 seconds and then Alt+Tab back to game. After that, everything is fast for a while.

For me it seems, like the memory is full and by doing Alt+Tab I release it and I can play again (for a short period).

My tests:

  • It is propably not the graphics problem - tried different settings and my friend have integrated graphics (Intel HD) and he is playing on medium settings.
  • It is not server problem - tried different servers, different versions (Lingor, Panthera)
  • It is not RAM modules itself (switched them - had another 4GB)
  • Tried -winxp launch parameter - doesn't help at all

Please give me suggestions for solution, because it is really frustrating to Alt+Tab every 5 minutes.

Thank you

Karlos

I'm having the exact same problem. I have tried several things to no avail. :(

I read a similar issue regarding CPU throttling here:

http://www.google.co...ltPhBfj0Lvovz7g

With the lag gradually increasing in the first 3 - 7 minutes it would appear to be overheating related.. but alas..

Looking at Throttle stop it appears that the CPU isn't being throttled. I'm leaning towards it being a RAM issue, with the FPS dramatically increasing when I tab out and in, or relaunching the game.

So I have just find the solution - my NB was overheating, so I just took off keyboard, let the air get in and so far I have played 4 hours with 0 lags.
