switch296 20 Posted June 15, 2012 Me and the rest of my clan are looking for a perfect spot to save our vehicles and possibly tents if we run out of room, but the thing is that a perfect spot on this map simply does not exist, there is always a chance someone will find it.If we ride a huge way out of the map into where no grass or trees load, will our vehicles and tents save properly? I'm talking 10-30km out of the map.Any info would be appreciated
Kobra (DayZ) 0 Posted June 15, 2012 Hey, good question, me and my buddies are always moving bases etc because we lose vehicles due to server reset, so I personally wouldnt go out that far because lets face it, those cars wont be there for long to help you. so you wont go out to the tents much once you have lost the cars which makes that base unreachable. just my 2 cents but also if you are looking to team up with 3-6 moore trust worthy guys then add me on steam kushaholic
switch296 20 Posted June 15, 2012 Hey Kobra,I've actually never even once lost a vehicle permanently to server resets/crashes and I've owned over 10+ vehicles for an extended amount of time in DayZWhat I have found is that sometimes after a crash/reset, all vehicles (more likely) or a specific vehicle (seems to happen lots with trucks) will not spawn. But that does not mean they are gone. They do indeed come back, usually next reset/crash but sometimes it has taken up to 3.I've never experienced a server actually "eating" a car permanently even once, so go check where you had vehicles disappear before and you might be surprised to find them again. salty (DayZ) 39 Posted June 15, 2012 For now, yes. It's a pretty lame thing to do though, and not really in the spirit of the game.
Wired 1 Posted June 15, 2012 What, to go out into uncharted land and place a tent? sounds legit.
switch296 20 Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks for the answer Salty.I kind of get where you are coming from but then on the other hand, I feel like until Rocket adds something like camo nets/camo paint (or perhaps allow us to use the hatchet to chop down tree branches and such to place over them?) for parked vehicles to hide them better that something like this is kind of necessary if we want to keep our hard earned vehicles safe.It is basically completely impossible to keep the vehicles safe on the current map because of how good people are now at finding bases - I've met people who have every decent tree clump that you can park vehicles in on the map basically memorised and find vehicles quite reguarly.. there is people who do grid searches with clans all across the northern/western parts of the map just to find bases and because of this it is almost pointless to keep vehicles because of how quickly they can be stolen. The game goes for realism and in real life in a situation where I would want to hide a vehicle, it would be completely hidden from view and have tree branches and such all over it.. unfortunately we can't do that in DayZ though.. not yet. salty (DayZ) 39 Posted June 15, 2012 *snip*No problem. Some form of prevention may be in the works, so always keep an eye on the latest patch notes. I'd hate to see your camp to disappear overnight. :OAs long as you're actively driving your vehicles on the map I can't be too upset with your methods. Vehicles are meant to be driven, not stowed away 30km off map, after all.
