Good snipe or nefarious hack?

So I'm still rather new to DayZ, and had an interesting occurrence happen to me today.

crawling out of town in daylight, no zombies anywhere near, no health problems, hunger/water/etc.

All of a sudden drop dead.

No gun shots, no other hits... just suddenly dead. You saw others on the server dieing as well, it was somewhat common but not like a mass kill. Does DayZ ever show what killed you? Or how you died? The only message was "Aramova has died" and thats it.

Just curious. Interesting way to end 2 hours crawling around town collecting things.

Well, if your outside the audible range of the gun, chances are you won't hear a bang, at most you'll hear the bullet flying through you, but usually when you take a .50 cal hit, you don't hear anything because your ears are dead.

However, since there were a lot of people dying one by one, it could be a hacker porting around and shooting people, but you can't really know for sure.
