Erstad (DayZ) 0 Posted October 10, 2012 So about a moth ago, I bought a Vilayer server for my clan. I have come to regret this many times since.- Problem #1 - Day #1 - Uptime in seconds: 0So, the first time I was going to try the server (one day after buying it), it did not work at all. I couldn't even log into the ACP Control Panel. After waiting for answer on my support ticket for over a day, I was told that the name I had chosen for the server broke the server. I was told that it would be up in an hour. I decided to wait until the next day to fire it up. Here comes problem #2.- Problem #2 - Day #2 - Uptime in seconds: 0So, I woke up the next day to fire the server up. Logged into the ACP Control Panel, and was greeted by Server Status: UNKNOWN. After waiting for 2 days, trying to install mods/updates to no avail, I submitted yet another ticket. While waiting for my ticket, I logged into Vilayers teamspeak, hoping to get some help there. After 3 - 4 hours, someone finally came along and told me that they had major problems with servers because they were moving them all to new machines (or something like that). The answer I got from my ticket confirmed this, and I was also given a month of free servertime. "Good!", I thought.- Problem #3 - Day #4 - Uptime in seconds: 0By now, I really believed that my server would be up. I logged into ACP, and my hopes rose further; Server Status now said STOPPED. I installed mods and updates, and fired up the server.Server Status changed to RUNNING.The problem was that I was unable to find it in DayZ Commander, and in Remote Connect. So, I opened up the ACP, refreshed it, and wouldn't you know? Server Status had changed back to STOPPED."Well fuck", I though. So, I sent in yet another ticket and logged into their TeamSpeak once again. After waiting for 4 more hours, someone from Vilayer came online and said they would help me out. After 30 minutes, I got an answer on my ticket, saying that my server needed to be installed again, and that it would take an hour or so. I was satisfied, and went to bed.18 hours later, I logged in to the ACP again.- Problem #4 - Day #5 - Uptime in seconds: 0Guess what was waiting for me in the ACP? A big red Server Status: UNKNOWN. Yeah, that's right, I was back to the first problem again. So I submitted yet another ticket, and got my ass back on TeamSpeak. After more hours of waiting, I got help. The server install had failed again, and needed to be restarted. This this time it actually worked! I was so happy, playing with my friends, killing zombies and all that. But the problems did not stop there.- Problem # 5 - Day #17 - Uptime in days: 11So, after 11 days of glorious uptime, I decided to update the server and install a new map. That was a mistake. You see, while I was doing that, Vilayer was installing a new update, and for some reason, they thought that giving their customers a heads-up was a bed idea.So my server broke again, and went down. This time it was up and running in 4 - 5 hours. I installed new maps, and played for a while. Some hours later I decided that it was time for a reset of the server, because I got the chance to test Gotcha Anti-Hack (great tool, btw). I sent in a ticket, and after 2 hours someone from Vilayer started the installation. I went to bed.- Problem #6 - Day #18 - Uptime in days: 11 and 1/2When I woke up, I tried to log into ACP. Well, that was apparently not acceptable. Now, my username and password was all of the sudden incorrect, and after trying to retrieve password, it was clear that my account no longer existed. So, I submitted yet another ticket and got on TeamSpeak. More waiting. WHOOPWHOOP!!!This time, someone actually answered my ticket before anyone on TeamSpeak helped me. The server re-install had failed yet again, and had been restarted. And since this takes an hour, I decided to share this with you all.Has anyone else experienced something like this? I mean, this can't be right... Ok, I did get one month free, but still...And to anyone who are considering Vilayer as host; do it at your own risk.* Note that the timeline and uptime may not be 100% correct. jimbouk1977 0 Posted October 12, 2012 Sounds like all these crappy host are using resales from other data centers to me either that or they have no clue on how to host Game Servers or should i say Arma 2 Oa servers.Had the same exact isues with another company of late but not with DayZ they have now gone Belly up so watch your money & always pay with a bank card as Paypal do not refun or even look into it with a Digital Service so be warned. alot of small / Crap GSP's are going under at present. HarunDanyal 49 Posted October 12, 2012 My only problem with Vilayer so far, is that I can't access the .rpt for Fallujah or Utes via any FTP program. This makes it very hard to monitor the server in the way most efficient for me.
avid_gamer 132 Posted October 13, 2012 You can access these files in your ACP. Simply go to your file manager/DayzFallujah folder/Battleye folder... there you will find all of the RTP files for each map you have run.

They use only top of the line best that money can buy equipment. They also limit to 6 or less DayZ servers on a box that other providers put 10 or 12 instances on.Just ask any of the hundreds and hundreds of server owners that use ViLayer currently. They will tell you that ViLayer is the best ... bar none.Look on DayZ commander or in your ingame server browser and count the amount of servers running.

In regards to DayZ im having so ,many issues, mainly with spawning in of helis and loot. As far as the MC server goes no problems at all.We have decided to try there Dedicated Servers, and I have to say Vilayer offer some of the best Spec around at almost half the cost of comparable dedicated servers in Australia. So i give them thumbs up for equipment and thumbs down for support.Cheers
K69 (DayZ) 2 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) I've had a Vilayer server for 2 months and what can I say, it's been emotional....if frustration is an emotion. Once the server was up and running it was very good, the trouble comes from the constant updates that appear from nowhere with no warning! You just get things setup the way you like them and BOOM! "This update fixes vehicles joined together when they spawn" But we've never had that problem (installs update anyway)... ahhh, now we do! Did you like setting the time on your server? Well FU! we're taking that away for no good reason! Every fix just seems to generate another problem for someone somewhere else. It's a computer version of the old lady who swallowed a fly!I'll give you an example. Yesterday there was an update to 4.2 (fixes this, updates that) YOU MUST UNINSTALL YOUR MOD BEFORE RUNNING THIS UPDATE! Well ok, except once you've uninstalled the mod, the message for the update is... UNABLE TO UPDATE AT THIS TIME! (this continued all day)Fine, I'll just reinstall my mod and wait til they sort it.... YOU CANNOT INSTALL ANY MODS UNTIL YOU HAVE UPDATED TO 4.2.No one on TS to help or give advise no answer to the ticket.... ARRRGGGHHH!TODAY.... new update (to be fair, they'd fixed the server over night.... except there was something stopping us from joining) ANOTHER update to 4.5 along with an unfathomable email telling us about the 4.2 update and how we should DL some files from them and then overwrite the files on our client Arma! Not going to happen Vilayer!! Edited November 9, 2012 by K69
Bacon Surfboard 61 Posted November 10, 2012 Same as OP. They advertise 24/7 support which is a flat out lie. The server has been up two days and down with "unknown" for 4. Multiple run arounds with the staff, tickets being closed with no resolution, no feedback, promises that it's currently being re-installed since they broke it ETA 2 hours, still dead 36 hours later and the staff are now non-responsive.I get that hardware/software fails, i own and run my own personal servers elsewhere but the communications and up front honesty at Vilayer is dreadful. Will be cancelling account shortly just been nothing but a waste of a week.
