I seem to have two characters?

Hi all, a couple of weeks back I died and respawned back in as usual, foraged around and picked up some kit. A day or two later I started the game and instead of spawning in as the existing character I ended up on the beach with nothing. Thinking it was just a glitch I carried on with the fresh spawn and looted new kit, etc. Now randomly when I start the game I spawn in as either the new character or the old one.

Id rather only play as one character so does anyone know a fix for this issue? Each of these characters have died since then and respawned but I always seem to have two characters on the go at the same time, this make sense?

Btw, it's the same profile I'm playing with and I only have 1 steam account.

You must have joined a private hive servers. It means your character will be saved on this server but won't be shared with official ones or other private hive servers. basically if you join back a official server you will find your other character back. If you use dayz commander it is easy to filter servers so you play only with one character. Hope I've been clear.

You are swapping between private, and official servers. Official ones will be listed in the arma 2 server list, under mission, as "DayZ". Private hives will usually be listed as "DayZ Chernarus".

Ahh, that explains it. I have been joining servers with both DayZ and DayZChernarus thinking it's the same thing, doh!
