amishterminator 9 Posted June 14, 2012 The blood meter is a good idea but is way too unbalanced. You bleed too easily and bleed out too fast. I dont think a zombie scratching at you would inflict a wound big enough to bleed to death from. Also, there is no blood clotting or blood regeneration. Your blood meter should slowly refill since the body naturally makes blood. Also, falling short distances shouldnt make you bleed. Earlier today I fell off a staircase about 5-6 stairs up and I bled to death after falling unconcious (sp?). Unless you smash your face against the ground (and I landed on my feet) then theres no way you would be bleeding. I realize this mod isnt a final product but this is something the developers should've done automatically.
Cyan-Eyed 3 Posted June 14, 2012 Agreed.Slow blood regeneration after not being hit for a while and not losing blood from falling a small height need to be added.
Weis 0 Posted June 14, 2012 I know rocket cares about realism, and I think this would be fairly easy to add, so all we can do now is hope he agrees.
deepfried 95 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm not so sure and I really don't think we want regenerating health. One of the main compelling aspects of the game is survival, if you can regain health by just hiding under a bush for a while then 90% of that mechanic is gone.Anyway, as it is its still very easy to stay at full health or get to full health, provided you have the precious matches of course :)However I do agree that zombie attacks should be less likely to cause bleeding, though perhaps more out right damaging to compensate. amishterminator 9 Posted June 14, 2012 I just died from a zombie who basically knocked me out, made me bleed, and broke a bone in one hit and I bled out from like 6k blood because i was unconcious for so long. I lost so much nice stuff too.
Officious (DayZ) 4 Posted June 14, 2012 Even moderate lacerations to large muscles (upper arm, thigh, calves) bleed lots. I know this from some of the people I've patched up. Additionally think about your major veins and arteries and how quickly you'd bleed out from those being ruptured. Now, a zombie isn't likely to scratch you and nothing else during the attack, It's trying to kill you with all it's might it has no limits. IMO a zombie hitting you (obviously using a chance to hit and chance to do X damage system) would cause severe bleeding.
Sonblade (DayZ) 11 Posted June 14, 2012 Maybe have blood regen fully (from one) after 3 full days. This would be (roughly) 170 Blood regained per hour.

Yeah, you bleed a lot if arteries and major veins are opened but I can only imagine that from a very well placed bite.
Oliva 2 Posted June 14, 2012 I think the problem here is that the bleed is automatically affected by damage. You fall, you get hurt, you bleed. this way.Really, should be there other ways to make it better... I don't think it's easy, but hell, they could really do it to make shit real.

Yeah, you bleed a lot if arteries and major veins are opened but I can only imagine that from a very well placed bite.Well considering your whole body is covered in veins and arteries close to 65% of which are right up against the inside layer of your skin I'd say a zombie with outgrown sharp nails, razor teeth and no care if it gets hurt while attacking you could do quite bit of damage. I.E. If you cut open the artery right above the inside of your elbow you could bleed out within 10-15 minutes. As opposed to common knowledge not every cut or bleeding wound will clot. Only if the blood is moving slow enough through the wound will the platelets to be able to grab hold and start forming a clot around the hole or opening. So in retrospect think of it like this. There are three types of veins through out your body 1. Arteries 2. veins 3. capillaries. Capillaries being extremely small and with roughly no force pushing the blood can clot extremely quickly if exposed and are the closest to the outside of your skin. Veins are the next largest and its a big jump with an average pumping power the blood with clot if veins are exposed but only after 10-15 minutes maybe 7-8 if pressure had been applied. Arteries however pump blood through extremely in extremely strong burst and if are exposed or cut open will not clot unattended only if pressure is applied at the wound and above the wound where the blood it is being fed is coming from will the flow be slow enough for clotting to occur. The most abundant areas with arteries in your bodies are your arms, legs, neck, head, right side of your upper chest, and lower pelvic region. All extremely exposed to attack.(severity of the wound obviously changes how long it takes and certain arteries can't be stopped from bleeding out if cut or lacerated, such as the jugular in your neck. You will bleed out in 2-3 minutes if cut there.)
