Gear (still) doesn't save after logging off

So, over the last week or so I've been having this issue where no matter how long I've had a collection of gear, when I log out and log back in it doesn't stick. Case in point, the adventures of today: I log in, find that I have newspawn gear despite having been completely loaded out before I logged. Fine, I loot Vybor and get some degree of geared up again. I play for another 30 minutes, log out, and come back later to find that I'm back to the crossbow I picked up in Vybor and dropped 2 minutes later, and nothing else.

This problem persists across every server I try, and through a complete uninstall/reinstall of ArmaII/OA/DayZ. My character is typically in the same location I was when I logged out, and recently I learned that my worn ghillie suit stays with me, but the gear reverts to some random, typically barren state.

Help?

Update: Someone suggested that if BattlEye detects a hacked weapon in your gear you can be permanently corrupted, even if you haven't been scripting anything. Is there any truth to this?
